what's interesting about the gba improvement that it's not a rom hack, but rather a proof-of-concept. and it's made by stealth, one of the people who worked on sonic mania
the original GBA game being official is so crazy to me still. at best it looks like a mediocre bootleg also i love NES improvement ngl, and the original bootleg of that was pretty charming in it's own right, also very impressive for a console that was outdated and very limited when the bootleg came (1994)

In the bootleg version the first level is spring yard Zone
The improvement hack fixes that.
you can also use level select to access green hill or patch the rom
