The Best of the Tucson Monsoon

- In 3 years of chasing and documenting the monsoon in southern Arizona, I've had the chance to film extraordinary sequences in and around Tucson. These are some of my best timelapse clips from Vail, Marana, Picture Rocks, A Mountain, and Marsh Station. Chasing storms here might not yield incredible images of supercells and tornadoes found on the plains, but Tucson skies offer a magnificently colored palette that bring chasers from all over the world to see firsthand.

Gorgeous. But made me cry.Born and lived their for 40 yrs. I miss it. Nothing like a storm there. Creosote smells good, even the dirt after one.when riding, I had to make sure I was on the right side of the riverbed each day because of flash floods.A thunderhead would start building behind the Rincons, then 3 pm it let loose. Each day through
out monsoon season.
Stunning! Praise be to God for monsoon storms and the beauty of our home, Tucson!
Thank you!
@@LoriGraceAz Music is perfect!
Amazing!!! Beautiful Tucson 😍
Sheer perfection and artistry . How I miss Tucson
I retired here.
This deserves a lot more attention. Beautifully magnificent.
Much appreciated!
How have I not seen this before? Incredible footage!
Unreal, majestic, scary...👀👍🧡🌌
Nice! I live in Indiana & haven't vacationed in AZ since 2017. You really captured the essence of the desert & mountain scenery around Tucson. I experienced one monsoon & it was awesome. Good work!
Thank you!
Even the lightning has a purpose. I’ve heard/read that it puts nitrogen into rain so that it is a kind of natural fertilizer.
Beautiful video and music!
I love watching storms roll in from gates pass and the trail at the end of Magee and Oracle. There is no place like Tucson for a good monsoon storm.
I love me monsoon!
Excellent work!
What a beautiful video 👍
Stunning!
B-E-A-U-TIFUL!!! good job!!
Beautiful Lori!
How does this only have 1500 views? D: This is so fantastic. I miss the nature in that part of the world.
Thank you so much ! I guess my channel still needs to mature or something. I worked my tail off to create this!
@@LoriGraceAz Oh, I definitely wasn't trying to criticize :) It just seems like the kind of thing that would pop up more for people's feeds. It's nice :)
@@kaiateya I didn't take it as a criticism. I have yet to figure out how to increase my reach here compared to Instagram or Twitter. Thank you!
Thank you for posting these. Born/Raised in Tucson. In NC now. When I get homesick I watch this channel
Oh wow, I'm honored that you can feel a little sense of home watching my videos. Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you!
Beautiful 😍
So colorful! Some nice lightning as well. Hope the monsoon will be better this year.
Thank you! Me too! This year has to be better!
The supercell is the most beautiful storm!
So scary, yet so beautiful! Thank you for this great exposition. We are about to experience our first Monsoon this year here in Tucson🤞
So good!
Absolutely stunning! I am in awe. Thank you.
Bravo!!
My buddy's a lawyer in Tucson and he's made a small fortune repping homeowners whose "brand new roofs and windows" failed the monsoon test.
that tornado warning storm flew directly over my house. Got some fantastic pics and a great amount of monsoon rain that day. Nicely done.
Damn, girl. Just damn. Thanks for sharing. The thing I remember most about Tucson from my visits is the smell of the desert. Very unique, like nothing else I've encountered. Watching this, I can almost smell the scrub brush, the hot sand, the cactus flowers. Again, thank you. (Lacewing Photography)
Thanks so much!
We need some monsoons here in Phoenix
Hopefully you got some now. This has been the best monsoon season we’ve had in years down here in Tucson.
powerful!
Absolutely stunning, Lori! Great job putting this together!
Thanks, Devin!
Wow Lori, that’s one of the best videos I’ve ever seen!!
Your editing work was sensational!!
Incredible
Thank you!
Wow! Incredible footage, amazing work.
Thank you!
Beautiful! I miss the scent of Tucson after the rain.
Very nice collection and presentation. I would like to have seen some footage in Tucson, but seeing the microbursts and how they act is amazing. I grew up in Tucson and I truly miss the storms. I don't, however, miss the heat!
Stunningly epic Lori! Loved every sec. Congratulations.
Thanks Steve! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice, Lori. The images are both yin and yang, and the time lapse shows their power. I remember rain so thick one couldn't see the back fence. I used to love how the temperature would drop twenty-five degrees after a storm, the streets would turn into rivers, and then those lovely fragrances of sage and creosote would fill the air as the water drained into the sand.
Thank you! You described the visuals and smells of the monsoon perfectly!
I'm just waiting in the comments here for TheClairebear to show up. Its only a matter of time before she sees this masterpiece. Stop skipping meals Claire!
Not sure who The Clairbear is, but thank you!
Very nice! I'm a big fan of time-lapse weather videos. Care to share your gear setup?
Thanks! I currently run with a Sony a7RIII and a7SIII for my two main timelapse cameras. I also run with an a7III as a third, as well as the Sony a1 for lightning, timelapse, portraits, weddings, just about everything lol. Lenses are the Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM, Sony 12-24 f/2.8 GM, Sony 24mm f/1.4, Sony 35mm f/1.4, Sony 50mm f/1.2 and Sony 200-600 f/5.6 to 6.3. And the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8
Amazing work! Few people understand the time and energy it takes to collect timelapse footage for years to finally render / publish it. Great job-subbed!
Thank you! Yeah, these take forever to compile and are usually only appreciated by a few.
@@LoriGraceAz I can empathize!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
beautiful!
Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful, thanks for sharing! Hopefully you're out there again capturing more stunning shot you can share with us. This year's monsoon looks very active so far.
Thanks! I'm out there everyday when storms are firing !
@@LoriGraceAz,I really enjoy thunderstorms as well. Being in North Carolina we definitely get our fair share of them but with such thick tree canopies photographing them is a tall order, besides they're so precipitation loaded. Anyways, enjoy the chase in wide open Arizona.
Great shots, Lori!!
Thanks, Sean!
