Just finished the 40 mi loop last week. Cherry creek crossing was dry as a bone. We went clockswise from Crabtree. Was so incredible. Good video. Emigrant is so beautiful.

Sean Alicea 40 miles-wow that is great. The deeper you get into Emigrant, the better it is. Good for you!

AJ, other than the basic stuff (safety, water, map, etc), I would just say have fun. This is a great area that is much less hiked than others, especially once you get over five miles in, and the scenery is just gorgeous. Have a great hike!

Did you run into anyone along the way? How many groups do they allow at once?

Typically I only run into a few people when I am out there. They do not have a quota, as far as I know, and you can usually pick up your permit (at a ranger station)on the day of your hike. It is much less busy than Yosemite, but has some incredible views and gorgeous granite. Happy hiking.

We left from Crabtree Trailhead, just south of Pinecrest Lake. If you are going, have a great hike.
