    • @Andrew-cs1td
      @Andrew-cs1td Год назад +24

      I had Jones 4/5, only had Gus winning round 3. Jones may not have landed the most strikes in round 1 and 2, but he landed the heaviest/most impactful strikes in those rounds. And Gus' takedown was a nothing-burger, no damage little control time not worth a score imo.

    • @Live4happiness
      @Live4happiness Год назад +60

      @@Andrew-cs1td Jones lost round 1, the number one criteria for judging is damage and Jones was split open by the end of the round. His legs kicks and blocked attacks aren't damaging enough to win him the round when the striking is this close. I had it 48 47 for Jones

    • @Andrew-cs1td
      @Andrew-cs1td Год назад +11

      @@Live4happiness You're saying that a glancing punch that opened a small cut was more damage than that spinning elbow? I don't think I agree. Gus hit him maybe 2 clean times the entire round. Could go either way I guess, but I gave r1 to Jones, more pressure, heavier shots.

    • @mikedangerdoes
      @mikedangerdoes Год назад +18

      @@Andrew-cs1td It's a funny interpretation but opening a cut above the eye could result in a stoppage. So, in that way, it does contribute more towards ending the fight than a heavy shot. I wouldn't necessarily judge it that way, but I can see how that argument might be made.

      Round 1: Gus
      I just rewatched and gave round 1 to Gus 100%. He caused cut damage, got a takedown, and got poked in the eye. It was still close. Jones landed great kicks. The takedown was huge, but Gus didn't accumulate any ground time at all.
      Round 2 John but can go either way. GUS was Building confidence. His hands were quicker and defending take downs was amazing. But Jones head kicks and leg kicks landed alot.
      Round 3 Gus again. Still close but Gus gets it.
      Leg kicks are starting to slow Gus mobility, but he still out striking Jones.
      Round 4 Jones
      Damn Gus had it the entire Round til that big spinning elbow landed flush and Jones won the round with the last minute. Without the Jones fury, Gus would have taken this round as well as the fight. Jones elbows are landing flush.
      Round 5 Jones
      Great heart and courage by Gus, but Jones completed the task while exhausted. This was the closest Jones ever came to a loss.
      Decision Jones, but my heart wanted Gus.
      I am happy either way. I think Gus had a better overall fight, but Jones had the bigger highlights. Plus, there is a human factor of when something big happens at the end it favors the recent momentum. Kinda a recency bias psychological thinking sort of thing.
      But what about that jaw of Gus. He can take a punch. I feel if Gus limited damage to his legs and had better mobility late in the fight then he would have won. He damn near had round 4 til Jones landed an fury from reaching deep down inside. Jones is the best fighter I ever seen. I'm happy he is back.

They didn't do anything either them and the other guy got up almost straight away so they basically contributed nothing. I'd also say that whilst Gustafson had a higher volume of strikes to start with, he did almost no damage with any of them. Jones was only really in danger of getting a doctor's stoppage from that cut, whereas Gustafson was running for his life a multiple points throughout the fight. That should count for something.
