JFB Here! right so this is from the elimination which I won. due to not having anytime to make this being non stop on tour, since I found out I was in the world final I had zero time to make another 15mins for the final final.. I spent most my time in the hotel room trying to make another routine. but ended up using 10mins of this at the beggining and then changed up the last 5mins... on the night I was randomly selected to go 1st, b4 there was a full crowd and the extra 5 mins I changed up was not enough to impress the judges, plus there was a some mistakes.... I totally think that other djs deserved to win this and Puffy is Awsome! He played awesome tunes, won the crowd and is a really nice dude! This comp was so much fun to be in and I've learnt so much.. Im very lucky and have been living off only djing for 15 years + I would love to win a world championship one day but only if its deserved... for now just entering and being involved has made me happy & better! thanks :)

We live in a generation were skills don't matter anymore :/ JFB has the whole package, scratches, blends, word play, tone play, creativity and I think he had great crowd interaction.

JBF is a monster no doubts, but i belive every competition has its own rules, thats why 3styles rules are diffrent from the DMC, 3style has always been about the crowd from day

Pretty sure most of yall that say JFB won never actually partied in the Caribbean...this is djing yes, but also as a dj, you must consider the crowd and not put ALL of your focus on what you doing in your routine, take a little time to hold a vibe with your crowd, you're playing for and with the people...you're not djing for yourself. It's a party competition..not just to impress who is listening but to keep the party on the same page as your music.
Deejay Kas Matik It's an international Dj Competition though, you can't expect that every Dj from all over the globe has partied in the place the finals are held and what you seem to be suggesting is the equivalent of home field advantage in sports when it should be a level playing field for all competitors. Also it's judged by a panel of judges, not the crowd, so you're really trying to get your set done as clean as possible for them more than anything.
Without the crowd, who are you entertaining? ..you see if it were just to perform for judges, he wouldn't have won now would he? So don't say the crowd isn't a very important factor.
Deejay Kas Matik The type of Dj'ing you're talking about where a dj will read the crowd and respond to their vibe, it's an art form, I agree and important/essential if you play clubs, but it isn't what happens in a battle format where you have a 15 minute time limit. Everybody works out their routines meticulously and practices them until they're perfect well before the day of the competition. There wasn't any extra skill used by the winner, it just so happened his preselected music was preferred in the country the finals were held in. I think that's bullshit, personally, but there's always been contentious decisions in battles and always will be. I won't lose any sleep over it.
In the Caribbean there's a thing called sound clash, which is exactly where Red Bull Competition got it's concept from. It's also the same exact thing you stated in your first two lines. It's not a club thing..it's a culture thing.....dj's or sound systems lose their reps if they can't "hype" the crowd in a certain time limit.
Well said, no doubt this guys skills on mixing and scratching is one of the best I've heard, however puffy played almost every genre, he had the soca and reggae card to pull and had dubplates (Google is your friend if you don't know what that is). he also used words from one song to go to another e.g Hov to replace Hoe, then he got the ODB give me that money going into bitch better have my money from Rihanna, there was a bunch more. Listen to puffy's set more than once and you will catch the genius in it.
DJ Puffy may have "won" but this guy killed it and got the popular vote! I'm an instant JFB fan!!!

A few days ago I saw a review by DJ BYTE in one of his DJ clinics about this competition about which they said that Dj Puffy took it from the street...in my humble opinion I don't think even the judges were prepared for the set so elaborate of JFB because none of the judges does what JFB does on his sets....they were afraid to raise the level so much that they preferred the one that according to them moved people the most....what I hear is that in their 15 min in the silence you can hear the people make crazy... 6 years later I still believe that it was stolen... that's why I think it no longer competed in this format... coincidence... after these dates it was of falling is competition

Dejay Venom not talking about taste in music i'm talking about technical skill a lot what he's doing is going over there head.
A lot of difficult skills scratches were used but if they don't compliment the transitions and tracks the performance sort of misses the whole point. That DMC routine won't translate to a crowd like that, it was good but wrong time and place.
JFB is sick! His only problem was no crowd engagement! This set is awesome!

This set was much better than Puffy's. Indeed this is overall the best set. So precise skills, the music is funky, the scratches are sharp. This is a 11/10 set🔥

focused more on scratching than moving and engaging the crowd ..this aint dmc ,,eyes fulltime on the dj set ,,not engaging the crowd at all

dj puffy engaged the crowd more and played more globally known and different genre of more music with skill honestly think that's why he won its mainly for entertainment.

I give at most half a fuck about technical and difficult bullshit if it disrupts the flow of the music. This might actually the best "turntablism set" I've heard so far because everything was on point. Even when there was a (really tiny) hickup in the beat juggling, the timing was fucking tight. Almost like he mixed to a click track, insane shit.
JFB would've smashed DMC this year.....

Once a DJ hits a certain level they will be followed because of their style. It's then a responsibility of the venue to choose the right DJ for the night. This is what JFB does. Why would he change it? He wont be DJing before a Justin Beiber concert will he won't go down well, perhaps a Prodigy one though.
In terms of this competition he wasn't best suited for the criteria being judged, more about the crowd getting into it depends on the crowd who aren't into his musical taste so much. Perhaps a few beers and drugs then they may make more noise I mean come on...a little woolly really.
For me though there is not another DJ better at working the crowd and using DMC skills in their set making sure the music still flows whilst including the technical stuff, but then I like the music he plays.

Hace unos días vi una crítica de DJ BYTE en una de sus clínicas de Dj acerca de esta competencia de la cual decían que Dj Puffy se la llevó de calle....en mi humilde opinión creo que ni los Jueces estaban preparados para el set tan elaborado de JFB porque ninguno de los jueces hace lo que JFB hace en sus set....les dio miedo elevar tanto el nivel que prefirieron el que según ellos movió más la gente....a lo que escucho es que en sus 15 min en los silencios se escucha la gente enardecida....6 años después sigo creyendo que se la robaron....por eso.creo que ya no compitió en este formato.. casualidad....después de estás fechas fue de cayendo está competencia

I'm trinidadian Barbados is my neighbor an I was rooting for puffy but even he knows he,s no match for trayze and this english dj that's on his technical skills is no match for them puffy knows what to play I give him that.
