First Impressions of Hulhumale, Maldives - Artificial Island 🇲🇻

- A very action-packed raw 2023 Maldives Vlog. After my family left the country, this was the start of my solo expedition of the islands. I took two ferries to travel from Airport Island to Male, and then from Male to Hulhumale, the city often known as "Emergency Island". I explore the streets of this fascinating city that didn't even exist till I was a child and was reclaimed from the sea not too long ago, try out some local food and show you what it's like.

Fun fact : airport to male or airport to hulhumale is connected via a free way. You can take a taxi or bus.
To be clear, I said it in a previous video, but Hulhumale was built in response to two things 1) overcrowding in Male 2) rising sea levels.

The place seems pretty cool no traffic no pollution unlike other south east asian countries.
I took a taxi to Hulumale from the airport...and i travelled between Hulumale and Male also using taxis via the Avas taxi app...
The concept is good. Raw videos are the real version of a travel blog. Make more raw videos like this on regular basis.🙂
You could also travel between hulhule (airport) and male, and Hulhumale and Male' on the bridge on a car
Sometimes I think someone has mixed the color blue in the sea and obviously I love it.

12:50 It was mainly because a young child was once trampled (killed) by falling rocks because there was not enough site safety. Ever since then there was very strict site safety rules.

You could have taken a direct bus from the air to HMLE instead of coming to MLE and to HMLE . There is bridge from MLE to HMLE which also connects from airport to HMLE

btw you did not have to take the ferry, all three islands of Hulhule(airport), Male and Hulhumale are all connected by a bridge, all you needed was a taxi instead, water taxi is just as good I guess!
But I wanted to save and see the ferry system :p

Fun fact:Malé in dhivehi translates to l “mor e blood” or “lots of blood” because during the olden days it used to be a battleground.

the story I was told was about how the shores of Malé were always stained with fish blood from cutting

It used to be a place where fishes we're cut down before arriving to the locals home islands
noooooooooo- its about dead fish. male comes from the word "maha leyy". "maha" is huvadhoo(a local language of the south of maldives) for fish. "ley" is for blood. they called it that because fisherman used to go there to cut fish so often that the water around the island turned red...
