You missed a huge idol.... TV. If you don't think that it's an idol, I'm gonna tell you that it is. I know because all your sittin' down furniture is facing it.... And most everything is trash that's on it. Another idol is your games on your phone....people spend more time on their games than they do with God. There are idols everywhere..... My children, keep yourself from idols..... An idol is anything we place before God.... My God is a jealous God.... Make Him first in your life and everything else will pale in comparison... He's truly irresistible.

So can I put God in first place and love him more than anything but also watch TV or Play video games at the same time? I pray multiple times a day and read the Bible multiple times a day as well and I only watch TV or play video games when iv already read the Bible a bunch and have taken care of all my responsibilities and there is nothing else to do. I just want to make sure.

Just don't obsessed over things, people, love, money etc. It becomes a possession into idolizing. If this happens pray to Jesus to rebuke these feelings and in time you will come to understand the maturity of it all. Praying is everything!

Great! An idol is anything that we place ahead of God. Americans are so addicted to idols to the point where God is not first in their lives. So lets not point a finger at the primitives who worshiped idols of stone, wood and gold. Today many are guilty of idol worship.

Behind the search for every idol lies the yearning for completion. To seek a special person or a thing to "add" to you to make yourself complete can only mean that you believe some form is missing, and by finding this, you will achieve completion in a form that you like. This is the purpose of an idol, that you will not look beyond it to the source of the belief that you are incomplete.

What are some things that have to do with God that can become an idol in our hearts? At what point does a hobby become an idol? At what point can liking a specific celebrity become idolatry? I'm a Johnny Cash and an Elvis fan. I like their Gospel music and I don't know if I've crossed the line into idolatry.
With the Johnny Cash and Elvis part were these men Godly men meaning did they live by the bible and is the same for that/those celebrities you follow, do u have time for these people rather than for God(reading bible, praying, fasting) and do u learn, believe and like what they say becos God is the only one that u should learn believe and like all that he said, saying and will say. For the hobby part can u leave it for God for even a week/a month if not then its an idol. I can go furture into details with scriptures if interested but here's a link that can help for the meantime

God can reveal to anyone what is an idol, but the question is will you believe God ? An idol is a false god.... The star spangled is an idol of heaven and the bald eagle is an idol of the earth.... The idols of stone, wood, silver, and gold, were replaced with idols of the flag.... The nation's idols are in the flags, and the flags are high and lifted up on a flag pole, and those who are serving the flag are serving idols.... The god of the US is the star spangled of heaven and the bald eagle of the earth.... The god of Israel is the star remphan of heaven Acts7:43.... Israel calls it the star of David.... The god of Mexico is the eagle and serpent of the earth.... The god of Japan is the sun of heaven.... The god of Canada is the leaf of the maple tree of the earth.... Idol worship is of the heart and mind, through the pledge of allegiance to the flag, and anthem....God is not against those serving in the military, but against those serving idols.... When the king of Babylon the great played the national anthem, at the sound of music the Babylonians worship the gold image.... Today, when the US plays the national anthem, at the sound of music the US citizens stand on their feet to sing "old Glory" to the star spangled of heaven.... When you pledge allegiance to the flag, or sing the anthem, you are pledging allegiance to the star spangled of heaven and the bald eagle of the earth.... To avoid serving idols and the mark of the beast, we must believe what God said in Ex.20:1-5, and De.4:15-19.
I like your thinking and points but how did u get the idea that God the Father is not against those in fighting war or those making war?

And certainly cannot hear your prayers. Thou shalt have no other gods before the LORD, neither shall you make craven images and worship them, for I the LORD God is a jealous God and a consuming fire.

No,Jesus is not an idol! Jesus is the truth the resurrection and the life, the word of God made flesh and one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords and on that day your knee will bow too and you too will confess that Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords unfortunately at that time it will be too late. So I hope between now and then you have a change of heart before it is to late.
RJ Bene, I agree with jon Doe. The 1st Commandment is you shall have no Gods before me. The 2nd is you shall not make any idols. The OT is really clear about God Almighty being one and there are no partners associated with God. But Christians worship Jesus who was a MAN! That is 100% idol worshipping and a complete violation of your own doctrine. Jesus said worship my God and your God, but you ignore that. Jesus said there is no one good except God, and yet you worship Jesus. Jesus prayed to God and yet you pray to Jesus. Christianity is idol worshipping.

You are right. Every christian that has the cross has an idol. Every christain that prays to Jesus as like the Catholics do is worshipping Jesus, which Jesus Himself said "pray to my Father", "ask of my Father".
We are to say "in Jesus name let your will be done. Amen" at the end of our prayers because its only through Jesus that we can get to the Father but its up to the Father to grant the prayer or request not Jesus so praying to Jesus to grant your request/answer is wrong. Hope I am clear in explanation.
