Jackie Mitto with Ghetto Organ not really funky or Acid Jazz, more Ragga....
Jackie Mitto d great one. This sends me back to Jones Town part of Kingston. Yes, where I first saw him as a child alongside King Stitch and Daddy Hugh Roy. Jah know.
I was next door neighbours with the great Jackie’s daughter - Krystal ❤️

It is true! and I love this song!
What is it with people just repeating the info that was all in the upload anyway?
@@frazermcewen7252 👊🏻🤣
One of the best grooves ever recorded.
This is exactly what my blood pressure needs☺️👍🏻
This is actually "Loving You" by Jackie Mittoo and the Soul Vendors. Dawn Penn used it for "You Don't Love Me" and then later in "No No No" (basically the same song). "Ghetto Organ" is a different, but also great, Jackie Mittoo song.
Thank you for the clarification. I had just tried down loading from Napster and it was a completely different song.
ghetto organ, much better title!!
First I am hearing of the Soul Vendors born in Kingston 12 never heard this name. Just doing research and met up on this. Wow!
I want this song to play everytime i enter my home!
Talk about it.
Walk-up music every life occasion!
Pretty damn good. You wouldn't think an elderly Welsh woman like me would have such taste, would you? Well, music quality shows....
4 minutes of pure forget your troubles music
"You Don't Love Me" is a blues standard recorded by American blues musician Willie Cobbs in 1960. It is Cobbs' best-known song and features a guitar figure and melody that has appealed to musicians in several genres. Although it became a regional hit when it was released in Memphis, Tennessee, copyright issues prevented its further promotion and national chart success. Derived from an earlier song by Bo Diddley, it has inspired many popular adaptations, including "Shimmy Shimmy Walk" by the Megatons and "You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)" by Jamaican singer Dawn Penn (1967). This version was recorded in 1972.
Thank you for enlightenment King
Thank's Mr. Wikipedia. You don't believe Me: Sonny & Cher version 1965

very smooth only took me 30 years to find Jackie.
having trouble . not only did this guy play on half the records you like from1965=1980 with a style you cant touch.... he put this out. Jackie mittoo is not to be underestimated in any fashion. think Rolando Alphonso. ..... this was a genuinely original .... AND enjoyable, sorta mellow, yet gnarly, all at the same time. this guy was on his own and still is. Hammond players who aren't jimmy smith take notes.
you don't luuuuuuuuv me and I know nowwww

+Larry hoover -Dawn Penn
Estúpido.
+Larry hoover dawn penn but there is a better version with rapper eve
eve is complete shit compared to the Dawn version.
Classical Jamaican Rock steady music. Jackie Mittoo tuff.
Sounds like my late husband on drums, Winston Grennan. Amongst his many tells, are the metronome steady beat and heavy foot on the bass drum. This riddim was released in a couple dozen versions. Jackie Mitoo ever pleases! Its only too bad on this take, the bassie had fallen out of tune.
+ehites RIP late hubby! Hard tune.
I don't know. I love that it is not all perfectly in tune. Isn't that the great joy of tracks from this period? That they are not all perfect, sanitised and dull. If it is your late husband +ehites, I bet you are so proud of him. What a drummer. I enjoyed this paper here if it is of interest to you: yorkspace.library.yorku.ca/xmlui/bitstream/handle/10315/30656/Cyrus__Karen__A_E_2015_PhD.pdf

Great to see a Jackie Mittoo recording getting so many millions of views!
No probs.
This version does sound older, more vintage.
Even Dawn Penns was not the original, she covered a Willie Cobbs blues song.
Peace.
Jackie, easily the coolest person who ever lived.

This would have to be one of the songs on the sound track of my life! From 1970's Jamaica till now...Da song ya tough!

Dawn Penn's "No No No" used with perfection by the late very great keyboard maestro himself; respect bredda One of Studio One's finest riddims
This is the original. Dawn Penn Asked him for permission to record her song to his rhythm.
can you tell me more about this track? The track listed as Ghetto Organ on Macka Fat (1970) is different than this one. Is there another version of the album or does the song go by another name? Thanks for your help.
sugary, silky smooth Jamaican instrumental music.
This song and a nice joint could unite north and south Korea
I was today years old when I found Jackie Mittoo. I would love to make a classic like this!
I was today years old when I found this guy today also 😁👍
the original beat
This must have inspired dawn penn "no no no" . They don't make music like this anymore. It humbles me.
calibomber209 "this must have?" its the damn same beat :D dont be too shy to speak it out: Dawn Penn took this jewel and made a lovely ring of it. Edit: i'm too stupid to read - Penn released '67 and covered Willie Cobbs, so it says it the description. Sorry mate :>

Wow, first time consciously hearing this artist. I'm very impressed.

3mil views on awesome music. That's what I like to see.
Facts
amen
I think I have the history of this song more or less straight. Cowritten and first recorded by Bo Diddley. Next notable version was by Willie Cobbs which I believe was the version that was heard in Jamaica in the early 60s as it sounds more like the basis for thethe Rock Steady classic by Dawn Penn. Penn's version is THE definitive one. Sampled many times by hip hop artists and the basis for Jackie Mittoos version here and covered by many Jamaicans artists at the time and in the years since.
Oh man. I always LOVE coming across dusty, old-school gems like this. Love it!
