One episode that should be mention is "Beware the Grey Ghost" which in my opinion is just a great tribute to Batman mythology as "Legends of the Dark Knight". The episode has Batman dealing with a criminal who is using the same methods as villain from tv show "The Gray Ghost", which Batman used to watch when he was a kid. In order to uncover the villain's next target, Batman would have to team up with Simon Trent, the actor who played the Grey Ghost (voiced by no other than the 60's Batman himself, the great late Adam West).
Besides a great exploration of Batman childhood, the episode is a great tribute to 60's Batman. It's normal many people think that Adam West Batman is a bad adaptation of the character because is cheesy and campy instead of dark and mature, but they usually forget that if wasn't for the show popularity, Batman would probably not have become the icon that he is today. This episode perfectly represent this by having Adam West's character be Batman's childhood hero and how Batman helps him realize that his life playing the Grey Ghost it was much more important than he thinks. The best moment in the episode (and one my favorite in the whole series) is when Batman shows Simon his Grey Ghost collection, resulting in Simon saying "So it wasn't all for nothing". Truly a very emotional episode and really shows how Bruce Timm and Paul Dini are truly Batman fans.
I agree with everything you've said, really enjoyed the episode with the late Adam West. It was a really well executed tribute.
Harley playing Amazing Grace whist the coffin containing Sid the Squid is sinking into the vat of acid is one of the best scenes of the whole run😅

Heart of Ice is probably what me and my family should watch this Christmas. Also, Michael Ansara died of Alzheimer’s disease in 2013 and was buried next to his son, Matthew.
His last moment as Mr. Freeze was in Batman Beyond, where he sacrificed himself in a cave in to save Batman (Terry McGinnis). Mr. Freeze may have been a villain, but he died a hero.
Also, I want to give a shout-out to The New Batman Adventures episode Growing Pains. In that episode, Robin (Tim Drake) finds a girlfriend in the form of Annie, who has amnesia. However, as Batman and Robin fight Annie’s abusive “father”, she tells Tim the truth: she was actually a part of Clayface, who had survived his death in the BTAS episode Mudslide, and she gained her own free will while on a scouting mission.
This breaks Robin’s heart, but he still tries everything he can to save her, until he’s pinned down by Clayface himself. This leads to Annie sacrificing herself to save Robin, being killed in the process. And her death is so emotional, as she KISSED ROBIN WHEN THEY FIRST MET, and Annie & Tim actually got to know each other.
Add that to even CLAYFACE HIMSELF admitting he can’t bring her back, and then Robin actually starts to try and KILL HIM. WITH GASOLINE. Batman prevents Robin from doing so, and they escape an explosion which knocks out Clayface.
The ending to the episode is what makes it noteworthy of a mention or probably even tie with Heart of Ice. Robin watches in sadness as the unconscious Clayface is carried into the police van, thinking of Annie. Batman comforts him by saying “Sometimes, there are no happy endings.” Robin nods, and a police officer asks the boy wonder if there’s anything else he wants to add to Clayface’s list of charges. What Robin responds with? “Yeah… murder.”
After saying that, a DEPRESSED ROBIN walks off into the sunset, leaving Batman at Ace Chemicals to see to Clayface getting to Arkham Asylum. I haven’t seen the episode yet, but I’m planning on doing so soon.
Yeah it was sad to hear of Michael Ansara's passing. Might have to give that episode a watch this month too, just tremendous writing and performances.
Great call on that episode too, must admit I haven't watched that one in a long time, might have to rectify that.
