Fun fact - the racing version of this car won 13/26 races and won the 1999 BTCC (British touring car) championship. It was based on this car, so I would say it's track oriented!
I really miss my P10 touring. It was a brilliantly competent and easy to push car. Suspension in the front is essentially the same set-up on the rear of the 300zx, and Gave the car really good supple feeling up front, and a stiff rear which helped it tri-pod and rotate into and through corners on throttle lift.
Nissan built this for touring car racing. In 1999 they won the British touring car championship, winning 13 of the 26 races (beating Volvo, Honda, Vauxhall, Renault, Ford). They are a very capable car. Churchi42, thanks for letting Misha drive the car! DEFINITELY go with the SR20VE instead of the DE-T, the revs will be great for a family car - come - track car!
Hello Misha, the Nissan Primera has several engine platforms: SR20de, SR20det, SR20ve Neo VVL, here in Chile 🇨🇱 they get several horsepower, the Nissan Primera was used in the BTCC, greetings and how happy it makes me to see that not everything is super cars. 😁
I purchased a 98 Primera as an emergency second car around 2005, it was in avarage condition. I was planning on keeping it till the end of year when MOT was due. I enjoyed driving it so much I decided to only get rid of it if it need something expensive spending on it. It went for another 5 years before finnaly losing drive when giving it a boot full out of a side street. Not sure what went, the gear box was still connected and changing gears ok. Maybe diff or drive shaft failure. I felt a bit upset leaving the poor old girl on the side of the road.
100% driveshaft snapped. They had a rubber weight on the middle of the shafts, it was thought they were supposed to reduce vibrations. A very common failure, water could get in behind the weight and slowly rust away the shaft. Almost all failures were behind that weight. A popular mod was to cut the weight off and repaint the shaft. They were great handling cars. It's a shame they never offered the SR20VE in them.
Love this video. Enthusiasm from owner. Genuine interest hearing about the car from the driver and feedback. And incredible driving skills too. Thanks for posting
Nostalgia! I remember driving one of these in the early 90s and it was one my favourite fwd sedans at the time. There was just something about the way it drove.
I enjoyed that one a lot. Owner who knows his stuff/car and relatable because I know Primera from a friends father back then. Over 180 at Schwedenkreuz was really impressive to be honest! Must have felt really stable for you Misha.
My dad had one of those. I remember when I was a teenager I was always super excited when he drove with me on the Autobahn or curvy mountain roads. 150HP doesn't sound like a lot, but back then it was still faster than what average people were driving at that time (and the speedometer was far ahead of the real speed it was able to do. lol). Watching this clip brought back some of the memories I had with my dad. Thank you for this !!!
Had one of these. 97 Primera GT. Cold air Induction kit, custom manifold, straight through exhaust, springs and dampers modded. Was fantastic. One of the best handling FWD cars of that era, at least. Had really long legs for motorway cruising too. Miss that car. It was a LOT louder than this one! Lol. I paid £500 for that car!! Regarding the SR20DET, it's fairly easy to get a US SR20DET and get it fitted because they were offered in a few cars there, mounted the same way and in a FWD car. I've had a turbo converted 350Z, but I still remember the Primera fondly!
Well, when Nissan developed the Primera P11 chassis they spent a lot of hours on the Nürburgring, so it paid off... I owned a GT many years ago, fantastic car and very fun to drive.
To the owner: In regards to the future braking mods, the US Sentra had a Brembo option from 2004 to 2006, also in the same 4x114.3 pattern. You might be able to use those without any modifications. Of course you would have to check the caliper bolt spacing and offset of the disc. Great car!
My brother had a Primara 2.0 with 150hp. Lowered with old scool screw adjustments, 17" wheels and good tires and a freaking wooden steering wheel. Was a hoot to drive on small roads, really well driving car.
The infinity G20, Corolla XRS, Mazda protégé, Chevy cobalt, focus, we’re all super under rated. Everyone wanted a civic but they are missing out on some great cars. The protégé in particular was such an amazing chassis.
My first proper car was a green metallic '97 Primera P11 1.6, in 2008. I went on that car with lower sport suspension, an Isotta exhaust and an open K&N cold air intake...so full ricer mode :D That car was extremely loud and slow, but it was my own car and I still have nice memories when I think of it.
Loved this review and great to see other old school followers getting their cars showcased. The owner's passion is amazing. I hope you do more low horse power momentum cars.
Owner is totally into his car and car model! Not gonna lie, the Primera was on the list , almost bought a former race car and wanted to build a SR20DET daily sleeper look back in the 00's😛
13:11 not for track. in uk had a racing series, BTCC British Touring Car Championship, around 1999 my fav era mid to late 90's. 1999 Volvo S40, the runner-up was Anthony Reid in a Nissan Primera and James Thompson finished in third driving a Honda Accord. the BTCC introduced a class for cars with an engine displacement up to 2.0 litres, cars used - Volvo S40 even volvo wagon those fun to watch , Ford Mondeo , Honda Accord, Renault Laguna , Nissan Primera , Vauxhall Vectra, BMW 320i, some real close racing and great to watch
The Primera did do some development on the ring in the hands of Dirk Schoysman , a fantastic handling car for its class and type, and grip even on the base model 1.6 I had with skinny tyres, and very fast and precise steering. Too bad they like to rust everywhere
The drivers car, as it was marketed. It's back home!! (its handling was refinded on the ring) Got to drive a brand new p10 eGT saloon when I was 18 after persuading the old fella to go for one as his company car lol. He never regretted letting me bend him to that. Had 2 P11 Nordic GTLE's hatches. Both missed, superb on BC coilovers.
We built many of these with SR20VE and SR20DET swaps. Those were breaking some hearts of more powerful cars and theri owners 😅 Awesome underdog! I think back in 90s, somewhere in TopGear they said its best FWD with DC2 Typer.
Very very nice episode, sounds like a vlog in fact. Very relaxing for a friday evening. Great choice. I really appreciate it such as both of you I'm sure.
as a huge fan of BTCC I've never seen a road going version of the Primera coming from the states. Love the enthusiasm of the owner and the beginning mods. the details about switching out the A/C bracket to Aluminum to save a few KG is relatable. It all counts. this seems like a good car for getting into the track, its a classic and has a racing history. love the idea of the high compression engine swap. good luck
Love that blokes enthusiasm👍 Bought one of these during lockdown and it went back on the road in 2021. Has been through 3 Mots needing only rear brake lines at one. It's a hoot to drive for what it is👍
Wow, memories of the old 90s BTCC come back to mind, used to be one of my favorites to watch back then, aside from the 250/500cc GP races. Cheers from Canada.
I'm a Primera owner. 330.000km and counting. Really underappreciated cars. Not gonna sell it. It was my grandfather's car. We have it in the family since 97.This car will be my project car. Planning to swap an sr20 since it was offered for it. A simple plug and play
This guy is a true car mechanics enthusiast, just as Misha is a genuine race car driver. Very good video! The car seems honest, delivering what you pay for. Congratulations from a fan here in Brazil!👏👏👏👏
The owner seems like a great guy. He looked like he was having a blast, and very passionate about this chassis. This was a very fun lap to watch, thank you for the share. Cool Primera build too, not something you see often 👍
Awesome to see these featured. Iv currently got a P11, stock manual SR20DE and it is such a fun car. It has surprising acceleration too, it can keep up with and sometimes even pass a GT86. I know they aren’t the fastest either but one’s a 4 door sedan that was designed for comfort and the other is literally designed to be a sports car.
P11 Primera is probably the best car I've ever had. Had one as a daily for 12 years and it just kept on going a year after year with routine maintenance. I finally took the original ~350 000km sr20de out and swapped it for fresh sr20ve and completely reworked the car last year.
Crazy how the little car pulls the same rate from 40-120 as it does from 120 to 200.. for 150hp she rips and likes the revs.. Pleasure to watch.. and obviously a full on car guy.. in search of a budget track car that you can learn with, and build the skills you need with momentum..
Always loved Primaras. I remember when they came out and they were pretty advanced. Plus that BTCC kudos. Hope he keeps hold of this one. So few left it's an automatic classic. Great drive as always.
Love these! Taking me back to my youth, had a P10 eGT and P11 GT with the terrible CVT gearbox, the SR20DE is a really strong unit! The handling was the highlight with these 👌 reminds me of the Nissan Pulsar/Sunny Gti-R from the same area, not seen one of the channel yet Misha probably because they wouldn't make it round 😂😂😂 they were notoriously unreliable 😎👊
I love the way this guy is passionate about his car. Hearing the enthusiasm in his voice is great!

Hard to get a rust-free one now. Even the one in the video needed some welding. Either you need to restore or maybe get one of south Europe.
@@churchi1338 I live in UK so just import straight from Japan :).
@@Brickhazardthey was never made in Japan it's a European car and only from UK... They have some in Japan but they are very expensive... I am still and have search a lot to find parts or a full car for parts for my p10 2.0eGt some exist in good condition in Romania Bulgaria or Poland, iam from Greece and original p10 2.0eGt nowhere to find....they are very rear to find...
Fun fact - the racing version of this car won 13/26 races and won the 1999 BTCC (British touring car) championship. It was based on this car, so I would say it's track oriented!
Best Nissan ever made.
@@jeeves_uk Definitely up there and underrated af
P10 was probably the best fwd car of the 90's even better than the integra type R and I've owned both.
As an American who has given up on Our sports and racing bullshix this channel gives such fresh outlook. Love it!!!!
I am glad that some has finally gave a credit to Primera. It is best FF chasis for the road that has been build ever...
You can feel how proud he was of his car in video love it!!!!!
"Fantastic", "Fun", "Great basis for future upgrades", "It can be a fucking amazing car" - Misha nails it.
Great car!
Won't work, the spindle are different than the B15. Try to find aluminum Sumitomo calipers from an early Z32
@@dasteknoviking Ok 👍🏼
@@dasteknoviking have fun getting those legal in germany, sucks here
@@thequillaXGermany sucks in all kind of enjoying car or motorcycle, Germany is good only to find drugs.... Unfortunately...
The subtitles hearing the engine sound as music amazing lap !!!
So cool to watch misha and a fan having fun and having a good talk nothing like some millionaire who speaks once during the whole video
My brother had a Primara 2.0 with 150hp. Lowered with old scool screw adjustments, 17" wheels and good tires and a freaking wooden steering wheel. Was a hoot to drive on small roads, really well driving car.
A super video 👍 Thank you both for letting us see this car on track. Misha it is complete artistry and like a ballet the way you drive these cars.
The infinity G20, Corolla XRS, Mazda protégé, Chevy cobalt, focus, we’re all super under rated. Everyone wanted a civic but they are missing out on some great cars. The protégé in particular was such an amazing chassis.
In Europe it was the 323 instead of Protege... I remember the 323Fs in particular being very popular.
I always loved the looks of the Primera. Thanks for this lap, that was super interesting. Good luck to the owner with all the improvements planned!
P11 Premera is one of my favourite. Great to see it in Misha's channel, also respect the car owner he knows his car very well.
What i like the most on you Misha is that you are honest with respect to the people. You don't break them down
I had a SE red Primera hatch!! It was a really good car. Interior was REALLY top quality. Loved it
Loved this review and great to see other old school followers getting their cars showcased.
The Primera was my first purchase on Gran Turismo whenever I just started the game. They were great in our local Touring car series events
In Spanish primera actually means first!!
@@amelluis6161nice to get that info, we have one in our family 2.0egt till 91...
The Primera did do some development on the ring in the hands of Dirk Schoysman , a fantastic handling car for its class and type, and grip even on the base model 1.6 I had with skinny tyres, and very fast and precise steering. Too bad they like to rust everywhere
P10 and P11 Primera handle really well. Those who know, know. They are gems.
I really like the dude you're driving with. Such an honest and passionate car enthusiast. Good on him
Holy moly! Loved this owner and his Nissan, proud of his awesome Primers!
When the owner has a *REAL* attachment to the car, it just makes everything that much better. Can't wait to see it again when he does all the changes.
As one can barely notice from the video, I did appricate it a lot. :D
Super video. Thanks for sharing. Love Micha. He totally respects the owners.
as a huge fan of BTCC I've never seen a road going version of the Primera coming from the states. Love the enthusiasm of the owner and the beginning mods. the details about switching out the A/C bracket to Aluminum to save a few KG is relatable. It all counts. this seems like a good car for getting into the track, its a classic and has a racing history. love the idea of the high compression engine swap. good luck
In the US, the Primera was sold as the Infiniti G20. Both the first gen P10 and second gen P11 was sold as the G20.
great video. seeing this makes me miss my P11... an amazingly agile car with a heart of gold...
Love that blokes enthusiasm👍 Bought one of these during lockdown and it went back on the road in 2021. Has been through 3 Mots needing only rear brake lines at one. It's a hoot to drive for what it is👍
Really great to see your appreciation of all types of cars and not just high powered exotics.
This looked like a genuinely fun chassis to enjoy.
I love it when Misha tries all different cars. Driving on Nürburgring shouldn't be only for the super fast. It's the joy of driving.
I have Nissan Primera 1.6 from 1991 year of production 16 walve 71 KW, petrol engen. The car it is greate.
Just seeing the thumbnail with the nissan primera on track makes me think of the btcc super touring cars.
P11 Primera is probably the best car I've ever had. Had one as a daily for 12 years and it just kept on going a year after year with routine maintenance. I finally took the original ~350 000km sr20de out and swapped it for fresh sr20ve and completely reworked the car last year.
That is a well set up car, Misha instantly trusted and had confidence in the handling. "Chuckable" is what I would call it. Well sent, Misha!
Crazy how the little car pulls the same rate from 40-120 as it does from 120 to 200.. for 150hp she rips and likes the revs.. Pleasure to watch.. and obviously a full on car guy.. in search of a budget track car that you can learn with, and build the skills you need with momentum..
to me it is like a front wheel drive skyline R33 GTR... what a nice car... a track and street car on a budget but fun to drive... ❤️
Always loved Primaras. I remember when they came out and they were pretty advanced. Plus that BTCC kudos. Hope he keeps hold of this one. So few left it's an automatic classic. Great drive as always.
Cool car and cool owner. I'm impressed how well it runs with that power and weight.
Love these! Taking me back to my youth, had a P10 eGT and P11 GT with the terrible CVT gearbox, the SR20DE is a really strong unit! The handling was the highlight with these 👌
reminds me of the Nissan Pulsar/Sunny Gti-R from the same area, not seen one of the channel yet Misha probably because they wouldn't make it round 😂😂😂 they were notoriously unreliable 😎👊
They are very rare gti-rs.
Great Vid: Daniel + Misha + P11 GT Sportline !!
