I have a worse almost-name (imo): I am a girl - and even after my parents found out I was a girl, my mom still wanted to name me DOUGLAS after a female character in a book she read. Mind you, I ended up being bullied anyway in school with my "normal" name they ended up giving me, but I still think of how much worse it could've been with being a girl named Douglas. 😭
Mildred is one of the wrong names I'll use when referring to my mother if she is being awful. Not to her face but like it's just close enough to her name that it's funny because it's wrong. It started when my brother started calling her Millicent when she was going out of her lane as a parent.
