This has to be the perfect episode of Recess ever. Story telling was great. They could have just ended it after they found out Randel was the one who started it. But instead of doing that they added a great little scene at the end with Guru kid revealing that he was in fact, the one who blabbed. Really tied the episode together.
What a bunch of hypocrites, I mean if Finister hadn't of said that everyone told and that Gus didn't tell then he would of been thrown in and been labelled more of an outcast, quite frankly if I was Gus I wouldn't speak to anyone for a while after this.
the kids are hypocrites and assholes, but what they were saying to gus wasn't "don't tell on who started the fight to protect them" but "don't tell who started the fight to protect yourself" if he confessed in public, all the other kids would see he was a snitch like randall, and they'd treat him like crap too. his friends didn't do a good job of elucidating this, but it was their message, and is a pretty good piece of advice.
The kids at recess, besides TJ and his friends, are the definition of fickle and easily lead on children. Even though they all told Ms. Finster who started the food fight, they were gonna punish Gus to cover for their shame. And if you ask me, they should all be thrown into the dumpster to serve as the garbage pail for all of them.
That's why the "no snitching" rule in a neighborhood is really dangerous. It only helps the person who committed the crime.
Even sacred laws aren't always black and white - that's a pretty deep message to put in a kid's show. I know a lot of adults who need to learn that.
I’m 37 & still love watching Recess. A great cartoon.

"My parents were on vacation and all i got was this shirt!" how did no one catch this reference!

randle yelling at gus for being a tattle tail. that's funny
But if everyone heard it from the Guru kid, doesn't that mean he's to blame?
Rewatching these episodes gave me MORE reasons to hate Randell so much.
