I really like the writing here. They didn’t make Laolu’s financial condition improve before the MIL learned to respect him, which is something to commend. Typical Naij stories would do predictable stuff like make him suddenly rich and put her at his mercy before she has a change of heart, but that’s just the same oppression and elitism flipped on its head. Instead they gave us context for her behavior, then a development arc. Really well done 🤌🏾

I really like the writing here. They didn’t make Laolu’s financial condition improve before the MIL learned to respect him, which is something to commend.
Typical Naij stories would do predictable stuff like make him suddenly rich and put her at his mercy before she has a change of heart, but that’s just the same oppression and elitism flipped on its head. Instead they gave us context for her behavior, then a development arc. Really well done 🤌🏾
