I would still be hesitant to choose radiology. AI might not completely replace radiologists in the next 5-10 years, but the use of AI will greatly reduce the amount of radiologists needed. AI will be improving massively over the next five years. Who knows what capabilities AI will have in the next 5-10 years. I guess if you don't plan on working for more than 10-15 years, you're probably good.
I think it's unlikely that AI will replace radiologists, but it will make them more efficient to the point that the demand plummets and potentially decrease salary.
I guess the DC3 was the limit of passenger transport by air.. AI will replace radiologists, just a matter of when.. maybe you will recall how large passenger aircraft had 3 flight crew ??? now there is even talk of reducing this to one...
The problem isn't whether AI can outperform radiologists, it's whether hospital CEOs care about the difference. We already see this with nurse anesthetists replacing anesthesiologists and NPs replacing family med doctors. In a few years, hospitals will begin replacing their radiologists with mediocre software, forcing the remaining surgeons to sort out the difference.
Another point that doesn’t get discussed often is the inability of many referring physicians and certainly midlevels to interpret basic imaging. It’s understandable who has time we delegate tasks in the hospital for a reason.. many people commenting are not even practicing physicians and likely do not understand the weight of medical decision making.
As far as I've my analysis, research 🔍 & some of a common sense , no AI can't anytime replace Radiologists & Surgeons from their knowledgeable smart profession. Rather it would help & ease them to get their jobs done with perfection, something which can't be imagined 2-3 decades early. It's more boon/friendly than bane/foe. And it must be welcomed with open arms. It's future & inevitable. I'm in favor of technologies with it's use for betterment of mankind. Hope you agree with that Dr. Kevin Jubbal 👍🏿😊
It will be a long time before an entire physician specialty is completely wiped out by AI. An AI can only do what you tell it to do, meaning, we humans have to solve the problems first, do the research, design the new technologies, etc. before AI can make it efficient and automated.
Ai can recognize patterns it's trained on, but it can't recognize any alterations or changes in those trained patterns. It can only find the very basic things but sucks at anything complicated.
It’s good that I’m still in the clear. Currently a junior majoring in pre-radiation therapy. Do you think it will be the case that AI will be a replacement within the next 10 years?
I'd have to look further into that AI Amazon hiring example mentioned in this video. Just because it picked all men doesn't mean it was biased. In fact, someone suggesting that picking all men for a certain job is biased could be a bias itself. Interesting nonetheless.
In 5 years a few will be replaced, in 10 years many, in 15 years 70/80% of doctors will be replaced by advanced AI, in 20 years 90% of doctors will be replaced by super advanced AI. You have to understand that technological progress is exponential and very fast.
the answer is yes it can, it's just a matter of when, even surgical specialties can be eventually replaced, but not as quickly as specialties like radiology
Which shows that you are totally clueless about both how radiology works and how AI works. Radiology will be replaced last, but only radiologists will understand why. Even other doctors, sadly, have no idea how radiology works.
you underestimate the power of compound effect in tech specially in AI. Yes AI can never do it is weak. BUT AGI easily will do it. after AGI the ASI will be developed by AGI itself in the manner of weeks to months. GOOD LUCK.
It's kind of cute to see the ineptitude of capturing what the near future beholds. Lock in. The hyper drive is activated. We are currently evolving in real time. And as most of you know; evolution is mainly about the ability to adapt. Don't slug out. AI and robotics will come for almost all jobs. FAST

What a great vid. You pretty much covered everything I was contemplating regarding this complex change. Thanks!

I was just looking for a video like this!! Perfect timing, my dream is to become a radiologist!

Great video, I’m a high school senior working on research regarding the public perception of AI in healthcare!
i needed this compilation
I remember asking for this vid and it is made! Thanks for this great vid!

Video idea so you want to be a pediatric emergency med doctor!
yesss plz
It would take atleast 100 years more for them to even come close to what us doctors can do

You took the words right out of my mouth.
as pre medical student I DO NOT WANT THIS HAPPEN.
This is AI at it's early stages. Give AI a few more years and then many careers will see a real threat :(

What about clinical pathology, can it be replaced by AI ?
Can you make a video on biomedical science? Is it worth to do?

Do you think AI can replace cardiologists?
I think by the time AI replaces cardiologists it will have replaced most other jobs first
I mean cardiologists still do have their interventions & other procedures, and robotics still has a long way to come
no, for essentially the same reasons as in the video.
There must be a human component to everything
Imagine if Doctors Unionize.
can family medicine doctors be replaced by AI?
do you prefer to see AI doctor when your kid has fever? you have the answer.
@GeneRauXxX Mb I'm 14 but I was thinking of going into medicine so I don't really know much but thanks for the input!!

AI is one of the things that’s stopping me tbh; that and the woke mind virus (yes really)

None of jobs will be available by that logic. But yeah good luck in thinking about AGI.. lol
