As a student who is strongly pro Palestine I would say they are both terrorist organisations that I strongly condemn. Any group that holds little regard for human life and targets civilians gets no sympathy from me. This includes the IDF however and that is where we disagree and considering that the international court of justice declared that the genocide case against Israel was plausible (Given that they didn't dismiss the case) these protests are entirely reasonable (you may still disagree with them) but at the very least to describe them as dangerous/anti-Semitic is broadly unfair. And before you say "then why aren't they protesting the actions of Hamas" or "why don't they protest ISIS/Russia/insert war here" our government isn't actively supporting the actions of Hamas nor the actions of any other such group except the IDF
Great to see!! The next generation gives me hope ❤
I believe many of the students act in good faith. The problem I have with this movement is the total lack of criticism of Hamas and ignoring the fate of the hostages. This way the students allow themselves to be instrumentalised by Hamas propagandists. Criticise Israel, but also criticise Hamas as a reckless terror organisation! Mourn for Palestinian casualties, but also mourn for Israeli ones! If you do you can claim the high moral ground, right now you cannot
👆
The moral equivalency argument. Debunked many times unfortunately.
Okay, firstly lets talk about who funded Hamas and why? Israel.
Netanyahu clearly declared that in a speech in 2009.
It was to remove the PLO influence who incidentally agreed the Oslo accords which were scuppered by an Israeli terrorist killing the former Israeli PM.
Secondly,
the number of attacks and killings across the west bank on Palestinians in the time since the first UN resolution breach by Israel in the late 1960's and the time since Hamas were elected in 2005.
if you need to draw any kind of parallel focus on the unbalanced death toll numbers from those two specific dates onwards.
This conflict did not start in 2023.
Hamas have offered terms of hostage release almost 20 times since OCT 7
The first occurred Oct 9th.
Israel has refused every time including the latest in which Hamas agreed to disarm last week and the US and Egyptian delegates told Israel to accept.
Netanyahu refused because he knows the moment this conflict reaches a cease fire he faces jail time possibly in an Israeli prison for the original charges of corruption he faced prior to Oct 7th and possibly at the Hague by the ICC for war crimes and Likud party will have to answer to the Breach of UN resolutions of further illegal expansion in the west bank since Oct 7th using the Gaza conflict to distract for what they have been doing in the west bank.
This assault on Rafah is now firmly on Israel and not Hamas as the latter issued a cease fire hostage release and de-arming themselves.
Rafah assault is not supported internationally or by the families of the Israeli hostages.
Members of the Likud have posted insults on Twitter aimed at Biden supporting Hamas since Biden halted weapons supply.
Israel can no longer state it is a democracy since removing a press organisation within Israel.
Free press is a democratic right.
I think its clear to see who the real criminals are now in this colonial project and with all colonial projects in history armed resistance of the indigenous people has always been necessary for their survival.
In the UN definition of terrorism there are also caveats. LEGAL EXEMPTIONS.
One of which states that armed resistance against an occupation cannot be defined as an act of terrorism.
Israel is clearly an occupation state as outlined by former PM David Cameron in 2012 when he called Gaza an open air prison controlled by Israel.
The UN definition of terrorism exemptions section was amended in 2003 with 8 further countries signing on to it.
There are more nations signed to that exemption than not signed to it making it recognisable as legally binding in a global democracy.
Its not coincidence that the countries who refused to sign it are western states including Britain and America. Two countries that like to use the term terrorism the most.
Even more ironic, they havent signed the definition of terrorism itself either for legal reasons.
Particularly the section that states funding financially or supplying arms to factions is terrorism itself.
America is the largest weapons supplier in the world and funds factions globally, including one in Sudan right now committing human rights atrocities.
Its the reason that Ukrainian retaliation across the border into Russia that has killed Russian civilians is not called terrorism but armed resistance by western nations and western press.
This clearly displays western hypocrisy when it is not used to explain retaliation from Gaza into Israel.
Therefore legally the same exemption applies to Gaza which was under control of Israel through financial and import/export sanctions and blockades since 2007.
The full UN definition of terrorism and its exemptions are listed online for anyone to read and is the reason 14 nations are bringing a legal trial in the ICJ against Israel and the ICC are issuing individual arrest warrants on Israeli leadership.
The ICC has never said it would not seek to arrest Hamas operatives and evidence against them has been collected.
This evidence also helped to debunk the fabricated claims of 40 dead babies, baby in oven etc.
Israeli health ministry confirmed no such deaths occurred.
They obviously criticise Hamas. This is just a bad faith interpretation represented by media and yourself.
It's used to obfuscate the real issue: IDF killing babies, doctors and humanitarians
100% as clear as day it's antisemitism.
Hear hear.
They are much more educated on the facts than you. There are thousands of Palestinian hostages in Isreali prisons and thousands killed.Isreal is the Occupier, which means it has greater responsibility to the Palestinians than Hamas do. Hamas are resistant fighters, so their responsibility under international law is far less than Isreali. Isreali has failed time and time again to fulfil their responsibility as an Occupier.
How come we cant fix pot holes but theres always BILLIONS for israel.

The woman is wearing a Kippah only Jewish men wear them, it's a fashion accessory for her just like the flags and scarves.
Only as a fact check: No, reformed Jewish women wear them too, at least in their Shabbat services.
Yep, though this is a recent phenomenon. The only people who wear kippot when not in a synagogue are orthodox men and the kippah itself will usually be black or crocheted depending on one’s denomination. Kippot made from a shiny fabric tend to be souvenirs from non orthodox barmitzvahs and weddings. Orthodox women tend to wear a headscarf or wig or nothing at all. They also don’t wear vests, trousers or tattoos. This girl is extremely confused, my guess is that her Jewishness either emanates from a distant ancestor, or from a progressive conversion where she was required to answer questions like ‘on what evening of the week do Jews have a family meal together’ etc. Or perhaps she just woke up today and decided to identify as as is fashionable among teenagers right now. The thing is, these people are flying national flags. The flags of a nation which elected Hamas as their government, who then raped and beheaded innocent women and children, and they still have hostages.
Its all well and good condemning the actions of a nation. But this is a clear display of support for the evil actions of a nation. If they took down all the flags, or had flags of both sides up, people wouldn't see them as antisemitic or supporting evil without speaking to them.

Jewish Student:"Personally I feel really safe and comfortable as a Jew, as a visible Jew, I am wearing my Kippah all day" (yes but you are also wearing clothing that shows your solidarity with Palestine, even the other day a shirt with the geographical area of Israel plus West bank and Gaza that was with the Palestinian colours. Of course you can feel safe at the camp. You help the cause.) "We are having colourful tents, colourful flags, it's all about love and peace, we are making nice music"" THAT is his answer to the question concerning other Jewish students feeling intimidated. 😱How delusional is he, if he does not recognise that chants of "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" and slogans with "intifada" are not at all about love and peace but threatening to Jewish people that had to live with big and small scale attacks ever since Israel was founded. For them it is a call to eliminate their state, a call to violent resistance to a sovereign state of Israel being in the geographical place where a "Free Palestine" should be according to these campers and their supporters, if they mean what they chant. And the University is justifying the camp where those slogans and chants are prevalent: "They are fully committed to free speech within the law" are also delusional or turn a blind eye.I do not think what I heard and read there being chanted and written on those boards is within the law. I am committed to free speech within the law too. But what is happening there is crossing the boundaries by far. I am not Jewish, nor do I have Jewish family members, but this makes me sick! P.S. Every life matters, Israeli or Palestinian......But who is truly responsible for the many deaths? That are the Islamists, that have sworn never to accept a Jewish state and that use their people as human shields, launching their rockets from schools, hospitals, and from in between tents in Rafah now, even towards the crossing where the humanitarian aid comes in. And then, surprise surprise that crossing gets closed for some time until some kind of safety for the crossing is reestablished. Hamas does not stand for freeing Palestinians but for suppressing every opposition within their own people, depriving them of aid, making them martyrs for their cause which is a Caliphate with Sharia Law (look at Iran). Please read the Hamas Charter and wake up!
You're worried about hurt feelings for a minority you elevate above all others but have no apparent feelings for the graveyard of Gaza
Do you see the problem?
@@Beyond_Belief534 you misunderstand me, I assume. The graveyard of Gaza is mainly the responsibility of Hamas and Islamic Jihad and Iran and the like. I care for the Gazans as I care for the Iranian and Syrian people murdered and supressed by their own regimes. What do you think the British Government would do, if there were thousands of rockets launched into British territory every year? If civilians here were randomly killed with knife attacks, car attacks, shootings all the time? If fire balloons where sent across the borders to land wherever they might and destroy woods and harvest. The boarder to Gaza is unfortunately a security boarder that is necessary. You saw what happened before it was there and what happened on October 7th, when it was overcome. What state can tolerate those actions from their neighbours??? Had Hamas not done what they did, would accept the right for the Jewish state to exist and put the large amount of money they get into the wellbeing of their population, it would not be a graveyard now!

It's not antisemitism; it's anti-genocide. The decision to restrict some media access is likely to do with how they present the issue. For example, this broadcast focuses on the "communal, vegan" lunch which is outside of the real issue of killings on both sides. This shifts the anti-genocide message to that of a social, more woke issue if you like. It's the little things that work to mislead the primary message. its not hypocritical in the slightest, they are proving a point and using their powerful institution as a platform for their anti-genocide protest . often privileged people are in a better position to protest, - it doesn't take a genius to figure out how this works.. try a bit harder.
@@drayewilson2 ofc they are ina better position to protest cos they have mummies money to sit on!!! jesus, the peasants have never changed anything, have they? nothings ever come of peasants protesting, i mean gosh what would we all do without the cambridge elite?!
you cant occupy private land and then call it liberated. it’s hypocritical and and eye for an eye leaves everyone blind, so keep playing these tactics and see where you end up, no skin of my nose! you guys are cosplaying terrorists and maybe when you’ve all grown up and actually travelled the world and lived you will realise how grave the mistakes are, that you have made. wish you all the very best :)

Students should be sent to home country so that they can protest in home country. All student visa must be cancelled.
It would be interesting to see the nationalities of those involved in these protests and how many are actually students.
Turns out folk don't like genocide.
Seems they do when Hamas do it.
You can’t crave the attention and then say the attention makes you feel unsafe…the future of this country will be in a worse state if any of these students make it into government, or any line of work. We are 7months in to these types of protests and you have actually solved what??? Nothing is the answer
The food tells me who's funding them 😅
The food has been donated and prepared by the community, and if you're going to make food in huge batches for hundreds of students going vegan is the safest option to make sure that as many people can eat it as possible.
Why are the government so frightened of being human
Or so frightened of Israel

@aleksandrsolzhenitsyn63 As of 8 May 2024, over 36,000 people (34,844 Palestinian[1] and 1,410 Israeli[9]) have been reported as killed in the Israel-Hamas war, including 97 journalists (92 Palestinian, 2 Israeli and 3 Lebanese)[10] and over 224 humanitarian aid workers, including 179 employees of UNRWA.[11]
The vast majority of casualties have been in the Gaza Strip: over 34,262 have been killed, 70% of them are women and minors.[12] In December 2023, Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor estimated 90% of the casualties were civilians,[13][14] while the IDF put the civilian ratio at 66% of those killed.[15] The death toll comes from the Gaza Health Ministry and the total death toll in Gaza is presumed to be higher than reported,[16][17] with thousands remaining unaccounted for, including those trapped under rubble.[12][18]
The October 7 attacks on Israel killed 1,139 people, including 764 civilians and 373 Israeli security personnel. A further 252 persons were taken hostage during the initial attack on Israel to the Gaza Strip.[2][19][20]
A further 479 Palestinians, including 116 children, and 9 Israelis have been killed in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem).[1] Casualties have also occurred in other parts of Israel, as well as in southern Lebanon, and Syria.[21]

Yes thank you! The empire in Star Wars used the same logic to blow up Alderaan and everyone was like “that’s a war crime and genocide 😮” but it’s like hey don’t rebel against your oppressors 🤷♂️ just take it or leave your home. Silly protesters.
Ah my comments are being deleted. I’m just trying to say I agree with you. The empire was right in Star Wars. The rebels started it.
How dare they not just submit to oppression or cleansing. Silly rebels.

yeh they are surely helping to end the suffering by sitting in a tent in a different continent waving a flag every now and then.
Hey, waving a flag around now and again is more than I do,
And ye, reading the comment now, it dose seem a little bit juvenile and optimistic, but what you fail to grasp is, that youg gentleman in the video completely disproves the argument that those protesst were anti anything.
Can I just actually reply to my own comment here. Actually no, they are not gonna be thankful about anything actually, that is if they are still alive to be thankful of anything.
Nobody is thankful for being bombed ,and your house raised to the ground, and moved from one place to the other. I man cumon, these people are HUMANS just like us, let's get into that.
Not really that hard to understand… Most people under the age of 45 or so see the world & our governments for what they are, which is only interested in helping themselves and those that fund them, the corporations and Think Tanks that are sponsored by various interested organisations/People that don’t represent ordinary peoples interest around the world. Most young people want to live in a fairer world which some may argue is not possible because of competing interests which may have some truth and naivety from others that want total fairness! I believe this all reflates back to financial interests although may not be obvious
Nice to see a thought out rational comment. But please don't think that just because one may be over 45 the thought process is any different. It might just be that the over 45s have realised that radical action has not historically brought about much in the way of change for the better, and are just trying to live their lives as comfortably as they can, without the effort of political interaction. Or, dare I ask the question, that maybe they are wiser now?
Show leadership! Oppose oppression

Quite probably.
The activists, particularly the ones that deny October 7th even happened, should be forced to watch the videos that Hamas live-streamed and to meet the victims' families. Then, ask themselves whether they feel the war is justified.
A "liberated zone", where masked, annonymos persons tell you what you are allowed to - and what you are NOT allowed to do - I would not like to be "liberated" that way.

Hmmm I dunno.
Where's the genocide happening? You only have to do the smallest amount of research to understand what a huge lie that is.
Most people are too lazy and stupid to stupid to bother.
There is no genocide, Palestinians were used as human shield by hamas terrorists or Palestinians intentionally hide hamas under their homes, schools and hospital through the tunnel system
They are antisemitic, if the Nazi party happened now, they would all be right there voting for them, accept that Arab murders Arab, rapes pillage, starves, not a single protest, but when it is Israel, you are what you are prime candidate for the German Socialist worker party, you would vote for them based on the words "socialist" and "worker" because you have been influenced by a nation that wants the Jews wiped from the earth, and why? Because Jesus is a Jew, without the lies the violence of Islam dies

It's not really a genocide, and there is no apartheid. So they are standing up for nothing! The whole exercise is just futile posturing.
Standing up for the human rights of fellow humans is always the right thing to do as it’s moral, ethical and on the right side of the law, it’s what differentiates a democracy between a lawless dictatorship and as such it can be said that the critics of the protesters don’t view the Palestinians as human enough to have human rights and are actually against a democratic system.
