Growing up in Hawai'i, I was always told not to swim near river mouths or where fresh water meets the ocean water during and after a rain. A lot of sediments from the r8vers are washed down to the ocean, which attracts fish, which attracts sharks. In murky waters, sharks tend to bite to see what they are eating. Of course, as you mentioned, bacteria could also be in the water. Thanks for braving the rain.

@jovahsangel well, the ocean is their home. They are that close after a rain. I only ran into one shark while spear fishing. That day, I didn't take from the ocean, I gave back to the ocean.

I spent two years on Oahu more than 50 years ago and never remember this much rain there.
Talked to a Lifeguard on Queen's Beach he was like 40 said Same thing. Roads that Never got water get it now.😁

Awesome rainy day walk. Mahalo for the tips to for visitors to avoid bad water areas, & to wash everything asap to avoid rash or getting sick Last time we were there in super heavy rain was couple years ago. Waikiki streets were flooded half way up the car doors, & newscrews were showing cars & people wading in the flooded streets.

Most of the Flooding is from the GOV not cleaning streams and Drains. I had a Sant Manhole in front of my house every couple of months NEVER any Troubles.
Seems like a job opportunity for sure!

I haven’t heard that word in a long time in Japanese and I’m probably not gonna spell it correctly but she she for urine or taking a piss. My parents would always use that when they would ask the kids if they have to go to the bathroom.
