When I was younger and this fandom was new, it saved me from a really dark place in my life. I kind of made it a bit too much of my identity back in high school though, and it made me really sort of resent discovering that part of myself. College was coming soon, and I didn't want to keep being the strange, 'cringey', feminine creature I was at the time. In the interest of trying to protect myself from that social rejection, I abandoned it all. For four years, I just lived as a plain, straight-cut guy. It worked well enough. I was reasonably popular and respected. I figured, well, cool. I figured it out, I guess. it was just some weird phase. Whatever. I guess this is my life now. Well, eventually college started coming to an end, and I was starting to really sense that I didn't like who I was becoming. It felt like everything I was, it was for the comfort of others, not for myself. Now that they were all leaving, I started questioning all of it. Who did I really exist for? Would I be happy being who I was another five or ten years down the line? I discovered I was really just living to protect myself from feeling that pain of social rejection again, and it was destroying me. I missed the warmth of being surrounded by my femininity, and how distant I had become from it. I missed the warm, bubbly, optimistic feeling of the fandom. I missed the moments of being unashamedly me, and loving myself for it. So one year ago, I came out to myself again as trans, and vowed to discover myself all over again. A big part of this journey of rediscovery has been revisiting old FiM fandom music. Listening to music from the golden age of the fandom, though, I get this awfully strange feeling of being stuck in the past. It gives its' own flavor of juvenile shame that's really hard to explain, like the memories are tainted by the shame that caused me to abandon it all in the first place. They were a reminder that I gave up on so much of what made me happy, and now those days are dead and gone. When I listened to this though, it struck something in me. Today, listening to this track, something in the fandom was new, and I could make a new memory in an old, familiar place. If even for a day, or for a few hours, or for however long this track keeps feeding that feeling of pure, unashamed joy that I missed so much. Thank you for making me feel something that I haven't felt in a long time.

Honestly, one of the many things I love about this absolute jam is that I feel like because a large part of the reason it was created is to say a big ol' "froomp you" to cringe culture, I'm not allowed to get embarrassed about listening to it or singing it, or try to hide my enjoyment of it from others in any way for fear of it being seen as cringey or weird. That would be betraying the whole spirit of the song. It was literally made to defy stuff like that. It's as brazen and unapologetic as it can possibly be, and if you're gonna enjoy jamming out to it, you gotta be brazen and unapologetic about that or else it defeats the whole point. This makes me think of a happy lighthearted animation where the characters in the animation are just havin a lot of fun painting a big mural. OMG saw the art in my twitter feed earlier, didn't expect to immediately see it again like an hour later. Cassette's great. Track was also an absolute banger. Really catches that early fandom kinda feel you were goin for. Super fun sounding lyrical and vocal work gives this a wholly esoteric kinda vibe to it. The lyrics had that radical badass punk sound that always delivers. :D

I am not a brony but holy shit do I love this song. The lyrics is quite relateble and the description you wrote is also quite relatable. When I was younger I was into a lot of 'cringey' stuff that others thought was strange and I remember I was embarrassed about these things. So I hid a lot of them from others. Now I just don't really care and have returned to like these things once again, and this song just describes it so much. Like you said "FUCK CRINGE CULTURE!" as long as you have fun and if does not hurt anyone then who gives a shit? Never be ashame of what you like!

Honestly, one of the many things I love about this absolute jam is that I feel like because a large part of the reason it was created is to say a big ol' "froomp you" to cringe culture, I'm not allowed to get embarrassed about listening to it or singing it, or try to hide my enjoyment of it from others in any way for fear of it being seen as cringey or weird. That would be betraying the whole spirit of the song. It was literally made to defy stuff like that. It's as brazen and unapologetic as it can possibly be, and if you're gonna enjoy jamming out to it, you gotta be brazen and unapologetic about that or else it defeats the whole point. Don't let anycreature EVER make you feel embarrassed or ashamed about it. Heck, throw it right in the face of anycreature who would mock you for it, and do it with a big smile on your own face. That's a requirement. I freaking love that.

This makes me think of a happy lighthearted animation where the characters in the animation are just havin a lot of fun painting a big mural.
