She made this album in 3 months too just so she can fulfill her contractual duties and get out from under Sony who was of course headed by her ex husband Tommy.
✨✨✨FUN FACT✨✨✨ Mariah's Jeans 👖 in the Heartbreaker music video was just a creation of by herself 👱🏻♀️. She ripped ✂️ the high waisted jeans with the help of her stylist. People were like, where did she buy that? Even big fashion companies, were shocked and amazed with that fashion. Then they copied it. And that's another legacy/trend 📈mariah made ❤️❤️👖👖🌈🍭
This was Mariah's final studio album with Sony and they did her absolutely dirty with the promotion cycle of the album. Both Crybaby and Cant Take That Away were released as singles but not promoted or released to radio. One because it was "hip hop" and the other because it spilled too much tea of her internal struggles with the label. But she still got 2 No.1s off this record. Both Heartbreaker and Thank God I Found You were Number 1s. The story of Petals is deep-rooted! I hope someone explains it in the comments cuz I am tired rn. but Your concerned "What's Happening?" with the Police sound during Petals is exactly how I felt the first time listening to that song lol. 21:06 And yes Rainbow as a whole tends to get brushed under the rug a lot by a lot of lambs, not sure why I absolutely love it as a body of work. Mariah wrote and produced the album in 3 months because she was desperate to get up out of the label lol. The next project is Glitter! Before getting into that project just remember that it's a soundtrack and not a traditional album. So the vibes are different.
They did do her dirty but still a multi-platinum I think 4x in the USA at a tint when we saw the teen pop (Brittany, Christina, Jessica, Mandy) and Latin invasion ( Jennifer, Enrique, Ricky, and mark Anthony). 1999 was an amazing year for music
I have to interject. They did play on the radio. M's Theme was only released to Adult Contemporary stations and Crybaby to R&B/hip-hop stations. They weren't promoted, true. Carey got around Tommy through self promo. She signed up Walmart to sponsor her project. They sent her to the midwest on promo tour and to all their stores, the exposure was priceless. She went on every televised program to promo her songs and LP. He only gave her 39k for her debut HB music video, so she used 2 million of her own fortune to go all out and used that 39k to make the remix video with Snoop, Da Brat, and Missy - he hated rap.
For petals “Dandelion” is her older sister, her ex husband Tommy mottola, “lil sis and lil brother” are tommys children who she wasn’t allowed to see after the divorce, and how her record company gave up on her essentially.
@@JJCommentary her and Tommy’s kids were so close in age so she was really close with them so she felt like they were her siblings. certain lyrics are about her real siblings.

X-Girlfriend (she sang this in her tour with her long time make up artist (christopher). Her make up artist costumed as the X-Girlfriend. Yeahhhh her make up artist can sing too. Her team's requirement, you should know how to sing. 😂
Rainbow is such an underrated Mariah album. She made it in three months, which for her was incredibly quick. All of her other albums up to that point had taken at least six months to create. She was really worked to her breaking point by 2001 because they made her go on her longest tour ever for Rainbow, +she had to film Glitter +she had to record another album immediately with no breaks. I feel like Mariah was definitely putting on a brave face for Rainbow. That Glitter breakdown was YEARS in the making. “Bliss” is SO underrated! ❤️
Yes she was overworked with rainbow, glitter movie and album... dealing with her ex & ex company + locking down her next deal. .. fatigue will disregulate anyone...
Heartbreaker Remix is still in the backbone of the original. If you listened to "Thank God I Found You Remix". It's all completely different. She has tons of Remixes. And "SOME" of them are in the compilation album called "The Remixes"
This one is the one where she let us experience her more personal/open side. The album was named after her different textures and colors in her voice. Pss: thank god I found you was written for “Luis Miguel” a Mexican singer she was in love with. Love u man! Love your reactions!
she named it rainbow because of that but also because of the symbol of hope and optimism that it represents (as she elaborated on the message of the album cover) and also because she saw a double rainbow while recording the album while taking off on a plane
You are glowing! Thank you for continuing the discography journey. By the way, Rainbow is unfairly disliked and even hated by the Lambs. The concept of the album being the bright white light which is comprised of all of these 'colours' which are the songs, but you don't actually need to pick apart and select your favorite colour because that rainbow is all contained within that light. Like, the translucent bright light of the sun. It's warm, it lights the way, and it will never vanish away. Only disappear during the night, but, even within darkness, light could still exist if we want to let the light comes shining through the night. That being said, there's some songs that definitely sound dated nowadays so I oop- 👁️👄👁️
Against all Odds has a commercial single that featured Westlife and it made #1 in UK. One of million reasons why Simon Cowell (westlife's manager) really loved Mariah, that in every Simon's produced singing contest there is called "Mariah's Week".

I’ve been checking for your Rainbow reaction!! As a huge fan, it’s fun to see you going through her albums, especially now that you’re a decade into her discography. The few remixes on her albums are good, of course, but many, many of her awesome remixes are not on the albums (single vinyls, etc) but luckily recently a good amount of the remixes from debut to E=MC2 have been uploaded to Spotify! Also, The Remixes album released after Charmbracelet has a compilation of several of her awesome remixes, but again, it’s not all. Highly recommend diving into her remixes, but finish the discography first. Being a Mariah fan, there’s So So much content out there, can take years to listen to it all.
I was not ready for this but so glad you posted! This album is so beautiful and the songs just hit different. You closed out the 90s decade in Mariah’s discography!! Can you believe how iconic she was with those albums alone? Then she decided to still bless us with more!

I have read somewhere that "After Tonigh" should be a duet with her ex the spanish singer Luis Miguel... but it not happen cause of conflict with Label...
What I read, Luis didn't like the final produced of the song. It seems like they didn't connected. It's like Luis can't sing it like the way the song constructed. He even threw the disc and mad. That's what I heard on lambs who are already existing that year.
This is the 1st album that I bought.. At that time, this is so popular in the Philippines..... The sound is so modern..... Heartbreaker, Bliss, Crybaby are my favourites here... Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix) is better than the original one, for me...
Petals was to her ex Tommy and her siblings she talks about the way she was treated and if u get her book she explains each song and what they really mean.
RAINBOW is like a Greatest Hits album - it is Mariah cramming to get out of a contract and literally had to re-create the hit songs from her previous efforts. Heartbreaker is obviously patterned to Fantasy or Dreamlover. CTTA, was like Hero. Bliss - UTS or FOJ. How Much, Crybaby, Did I Do that (rnb tracks like long ago, breakdown, babydoll). Against all odds (without you, open arms). Petals and Rainbow (looking in, Outside), TGIFY (one sweet day).
most of mariah's remixes, esp the dance ones, have their own set of vocals. they're not just fast(er) versions of the original. she treated each as its own song and gave them separate vocals. (if you haven't already, you should check out anytime you need a friend's c&c music factory remix. it's GODLY.)
OMG I can tell I'm a fan of your page from my not skipping the ads lmao. All of your reactions in this Mariah Carey journey of yours have reminded me why I grew up a closeted fan of hers in the 90s. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Joyride! Mahalo plenty. :)
This album was the last under her ex husband's label before she terminated her contract. This album is a metaphor for that. The title is quite literally like the manifestation of the saying "at the end of the storm comes a rainbow," kind of similar to Beyonce's "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade." The title also was a continuation of her using compound words for her album titles which i think is a reference to her being biracial.
I have been following all your Mariah Carey reactions and you're sooooooo fun to watch! You made multiple comments about her covering a song - as they say if Mimi does cover a song, it's not the original artist's anymore, it's hers lol! She's really owning her covers all throughout the years and its so funny you said this is the version you want to listen to vs. the original song because I feel the same way to all of the songs she revived
Hey, Contron. I dare you to listen to Bliss once again but with this brand new information: it's about 0rg4sm! OMG, it took me 23 years to figure it out. M is such a naughty girl. Lmaooo Love and peace from Brazil! 🇧🇷
Do you feel that this album was rushed? Cause she made this just for 3months only. Mariah wanted to get away from her ex husband. Sony wanted a 1 more album before she leave the company and she agreed. The way the songs are arranged in the album is her story/journey thru her career. Mariah's theme, she wrote it when she was 13 And recently there is a person in tiktok claiming that Mariah didn't own the song (cant take that a way from me) (LOL 😂😂)
I love rainbow but honestly it just isn’t up there with albums like butterfly or daydream. It is incredible for only 3 months, but still it just isn’t as elaborate or tactful as the 2. Although I love a lot of songs from here, their isn’t an overarching theme of continuity. It just doesn’t tell a story as good as both, it feels more like a compilation album. And the songs on those albums feel more timeless, compared to some songs on rainbow that sound pretty generic/dated. I much prefer her to take longer with the creative process because the quality is immaculate
CTTAFM was written with Diane Warren & had said person from Tik Tok that we don’t know read her book, they would also know that Mariah & Diane bumped heads during the creative process

I’ll try to save the dissertations that I usually write but my faves from rainbow are against all odds, theme, petals, rainbow interlude, bliss, and thank god I found you *THE REMIX* . The original is honestly kinda basic to me, the remix is so much better. U def needa listen to all of her remixes, it’s truly a transformative experience
Loved your reaction! Crybaby is my fav song off this album! This was her last album under Sony, so Mariah’s Theme was basically about that! Can’t wait for Glitter! It’s a solid soundtrack, very 80s! Hope you like that too!
Mariah said that she brought out this album as a metaphorical ray of hope for the new millennium. She had found new love at that point (Luis Miguel) and although there was so much turmoil in her professional life with her label, she wanted to spread the message of hope as we entered the new millennium.
Loved your reaction! A really great album considering how quickly she put it together. I would have moved HB Remix higher on the ranking but pretty good otherwise... so I won't come after you on this one. 😏 Moving on to Glitter 💖💖💖
THis album was not so much aged well. I re-listen this album today. This album have some gems like ''Thank God i Found You'', ''X-Girlfriend'', ''Bliss'' and ''Petals'' but this album lack of quality of ''Daydream'' or ''Butterfly'' and have some fillers like ''Crybaby'', ''How i Did That'' (two mess theses songs). Who ''Daydream'' and ''Butterfly'' aged incredible well and was so incredible in the production, for this, it's was a sensation to not so much accomplisshed like she have with ''Daydream'' and ''Butterfly''. The Phil Collins cover lack the drama of the original version and didnt justice of the original and was garbage unlike the original version, who the original was a masterpiece. Also, the urban was not my taste of tea (not like ''Crybaby'', ''Heartbreaker'' and ''How i Did That'').
Nice review. Not my favourite Mariah album to overproduced for my taste. Do admire Cant take that away and Against all odds. The heartbreaker remix is fun and especially the video 🌺
Surprisingly, u talked with subtance in this video (this is my first time of watching ur video on album review) 9:18 I kinda agreed with u, the song is sensual in a way that it doesnt event to sensually explicit like in music nowadays in 20th century. 15:30 It's originally performed by Phil Collins but I think her cover of O Holy Night still beat every of her covers 🤣 18:30 I cracked when u said christmas song ahahaha (I never thought of that yeah it has jingle bells in it 🤣🤣) I really enjoyed ur review It was honest. Subbed!
Petals lyric interpretation: _A flower taught me how to pray_ _But as I grew, that flower changed_ _She started flaying in the wind_ _Like golden petals scattering_ _And I miss you dandelion_ _And even love you_ _And I wish there was a way_ _For me to trust you_ _But it hurts me every time_ _I try to touch you_ _But I miss you dandelion_ _And even love you_ This part is simply all about her sister, Allison. She used to refer to her sister as Dandelion and they used to be really close. _I gravitated towards a patriarch so young predictably_ _I was resigned to spend my life within a maze of misery_ Quick intro about her relationship with Tommy _A boy and a girl befriended me_ _We're bonded through despondency_ _I stayed so long but finally_ _I fled to save my sanity_ _And I miss you little sis_ _And Little brother_ _And I hope you realize_ _I'll always love you_ _(Always love you)_ _And although you're struggling_ _You will recover (we're gonna make it maybe)_ _And I miss you little sis and little brother_ Tommy's children who became so close with Mariah. _So many I considered_ _Closest to me_ _Turned on a dime and sold me_ _Out dutifully_ _Although that knife was chipping_ _Away at me_ _They turned their eyes away and_ _Went home to sleep_ _(Sleep) (Sleep) (Sleep)_ These are the corporate people from Columbia Records/Sony Records. Some say that she could also be referring to Walter Afanasieff, who had a long time collaboration with Mariah. _Though I know you really like_ _To see me suffer_ _Still I wish that you and I'd_ _Forgive each other_ _'Cause I miss you, Valentine_ _And really loved you_ _I really loved you_ _(I guess I loved you)_ _I tried so hard_ _But you drove me away_ _To preserve my sanity_ This is mainly all bout Tommy now. Back in the 1960s, he became a recording artist under the name "T.D. Valentine".

You should react to the Thank God I Found You remix ft. Joe and Nas
is it on the remix album?
@@iamcontron yes, It's the 13th track
Can't take that away my most favourite song of all time!❤️😍
Thanks, Contron. I can't wait for you to react to Glitter...
thanks for watching Remy!
You're so right! I felt like it mirrored Butterfly in a lot of ways when I listened to it, but your other examples make a lot of sense as well
I've only watched two videos and I love you. Lol. Great reactions!
Thank you! 😊
most of mariah's remixes, esp the dance ones, have their own set of vocals. they're not just fast(er) versions of the original. she treated each as its own song and gave them separate vocals.
it really warms my heart when people tell me they don't skip the ads lmfaoo thank you for watching!!
@@iamcontron It's the modern day version of whispering sweet nothings into your ear. I hope it was as good for you as it was for me, sir. ;)
It was so warm and fun compared to her other projects up to this point. Truly a welcomed surprise for me haha
"Through The Rain'" should've been recorded on this album hehehehehe...
it would've fit perfectly!!
You should also do mariah music video marathon ❤️❤️ mariah hated Someday Music Video tho AHHAHAHA
Plz prepared some tissue for ‘Petals’
Petals is brutal and a truly beautiful song. After I read The meaning of Mariah I heard the song again and almost died 😭😭
I really love "Rainbow Interlude". It's so refreshing little ballad..
Always fun to watch 😂
thanks Cody!!
Have you ever noticed her buttery low voice? I really want to copy that!
Interesting. O have the physical copy and it says feat. Usher
yeah I don't know wtf Apple Music is tryna pull 😒
I have been following all your Mariah Carey reactions and you're sooooooo fun to watch! You made multiple comments about her covering a song - as they say if Mimi does cover a song, it's not the original artist's anymore, it's hers lol! She's really owning her covers all throughout the years and its so funny you said this is the version you want to listen to vs. the original song because I feel the same way to all of the songs she revived
can't wait for you to react to her newer albums!!
Aww thank you for watching!! I'm so glad you enjoy the videos ❤️❤️
"video is sponsored by Google search" 😂😂 you always crack me up.
Please keep reacting to MC's albums please!
😂💕
Hey, Contron. I dare you to listen to Bliss once again but with this brand new information: it's about 0rg4sm! OMG, it took me 23 years to figure it out. M is such a naughty girl. Lmaooo
Love and peace from Brazil! 🇧🇷
The album was made in 3 months
absolutely insane
I waited ages for a new Mariah's review ! Where you were 🤔🥳
Haha I had to take a little break, had some stuff goin on in my personal life. Thanks for waiting :)
@@iamcontron while you are okay , All good 😀
Hi, just so you know,Thank God I found you has a Remix version featuring Joe and 98 Degrees.
Do you feel that this album was rushed? Cause she made this just for 3months only. Mariah wanted to get away from her ex husband. Sony wanted a 1 more album before she leave the company and she agreed.
The way the songs are arranged in the album is her story/journey thru her career.
Mariah's theme, she wrote it when she was 13
And recently there is a person in tiktok claiming that Mariah didn't own the song (cant take that a way from me) (LOL 😂😂)
people on tiktok really have the audacity
she didn’t write mariah’s theme when she was 13 tho

P/s: The Mariah's bigass mural updates please... 😛😁
If you can & wanted to know her on personal level ,I recommend you to buy and read her book ;The Meaning of Mariah (released last year.)
😂😂😂
I’ll try to save the dissertations that I usually write but my faves from rainbow are against all odds, theme, petals, rainbow interlude, bliss, and thank god I found you *THE REMIX* . The original is honestly kinda basic to me, the remix is so much better. U def needa listen to all of her remixes, it’s truly a transformative experience
Yes I can't wait to get to the remixes!!
Loved your reaction! Crybaby is my fav song off this album! This was her last album under Sony, so Mariah’s Theme was basically about that! Can’t wait for Glitter! It’s a solid soundtrack, very 80s! Hope you like that too!
I'm so glad I have everyone in the comments to tell me that Glitter is a soundtrack cause I would've had NO idea 😭
Mariah said that she brought out this album as a metaphorical ray of hope for the new millennium. She had found new love at that point (Luis Miguel) and although there was so much turmoil in her professional life with her label, she wanted to spread the message of hope as we entered the new millennium.
Have started reading or have read her memoir
In petals she speaking about tommy (valentine)
And her sister
Not yet! gonna wait until after I've heard all the albums
not so many people like 'did i do that' but i am just of of the few, just like you, who like it. :-)
the song of hers that she heard on the radio is "The Roof" coz Crybaby is still about Derek Jetter
re: petals, PLEASE read or listen to mariah's memoir. it'll change you.
Loved your reaction! A really great album considering how quickly she put it together. I would have moved HB Remix higher on the ranking but pretty good otherwise... so I won't come after you on this one. 😏
Moving on to Glitter 💖💖💖
😂
Can’t take that away
Thank god I found you
Against All odds
Bliss
Heartbreaker
Petals
Rainbow (interlude)
Thank you for reviewing one of my very favorite mariah albums. Your so fun and cute
Aww thanks :) Thank you for watching!
Still waiting for a video of a choreo with a Mariah upbeat/dance song please!
her best album idc what anyone says
You’re back 🥺
I was waiting for this reaction !!
Thank you for waiting David! :)
Have you listened to I still believe/pure imagination remix?
No! should I?

Listen Make it last forever remix of Thank God i Found You
The reason why Physical copies are the real savior here they got all the details for each songs
Truly, cause these streaming services are not offering up all the info smh
@@iamcontron Agreed
The sad thing is is that what Mariah was going through gets worse during the next album “Glitter.” However, it’s one of my favorites.
😳😢
Surprisingly, u talked with subtance in this video (this is my first time of watching ur video on album review)
9:18 I kinda agreed with u, the song is sensual in a way that it doesnt event to sensually explicit like in music nowadays in 20th century.
15:30 It's originally performed by Phil Collins but I think her cover of O Holy Night still beat every of her covers 🤣
18:30 I cracked when u said christmas song ahahaha (I never thought of that yeah it has jingle bells in it 🤣🤣)
I really enjoyed ur review
It was honest. Subbed!
Aww welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed!! ❤️
Yeeeessss we love this
thanks Geronimo ❤️
Petals lyric interpretation:
_A flower taught me how to pray_
_But as I grew, that flower changed_
_She started flaying in the wind_
_Like golden petals scattering_
_And I miss you dandelion_
_And even love you_
_And I wish there was a way_
_For me to trust you_
_But it hurts me every time_
_I try to touch you_
_But I miss you dandelion_
_And even love you_
This part is simply all about her sister, Allison. She used to refer to her sister as Dandelion and they used to be really close.
_I gravitated towards a patriarch so young predictably_
_I was resigned to spend my life within a maze of misery_
Quick intro about her relationship with Tommy
_A boy and a girl befriended me_
_We're bonded through despondency_
_I stayed so long but finally_
_I fled to save my sanity_
_And I miss you little sis_
_And Little brother_
_And I hope you realize_
_I'll always love you_
_(Always love you)_
_And although you're struggling_
_You will recover (we're gonna make it maybe)_
_And I miss you little sis and little brother_
Tommy's children who became so close with Mariah.
_So many I considered_
_Closest to me_
_Turned on a dime and sold me_
_Out dutifully_
_Although that knife was chipping_
_Away at me_
_They turned their eyes away and_
_Went home to sleep_
_(Sleep) (Sleep) (Sleep)_
These are the corporate people from Columbia Records/Sony Records. Some say that she could also be referring to Walter Afanasieff, who had a long time collaboration with Mariah.
_Though I know you really like_
_To see me suffer_
_Still I wish that you and I'd_
_Forgive each other_
_'Cause I miss you, Valentine_
_And really loved you_
_I really loved you_
_(I guess I loved you)_
_I tried so hard_
_But you drove me away_
_To preserve my sanity_
This is mainly all bout Tommy now. Back in the 1960s, he became a recording artist under the name "T.D. Valentine".
😭
Least favorite album of hers but it has gems.
OMFG
Do caution next 😭
