Fun tip for painting yellow, put a layer of pink under it and then paint yellow over it. Makes it a little orangey but makes it much easier to paint. If you want it a tad darker, do Magenta, then pink and then finally Yellow. Learned that from watching a statue painter.
see i've been painting for a couple of years and i KNOW that sub-assemblies just objectively make it easier but i am also a stubborn bastard who just really likes having the full mini together from the get-go
@@Punchodile i can't do it. that's how i get a torso and 4 limbs with 5 slightly different light sources. i've learned to let go; if my brush cant paint in there, the light can't reach, either
I am almost done painting the Void Dragon, and I do kinda wish I waited to attach the body to the energy. But painting was way easier than assembling it
Ya know tried it a few times and except for big display pieces like mortarion or the lion for instance I just hate it. Became more of a batch speed painter than a pre assembly painter
10:35 Thanks for lookin' at da boyz there. And the reason it's with a C is because of VTubing. When I started VTubing, it was right around when Games Workshop started clamping down on fanworks. I made it a C for like legal shtuff, but I am 100% 40k Ork inspired. I was originally going to VTube as my Rogue Trader Ork, who was a Freebooter and the reason I run a Freebooter army.
11:30 I'm guessing this used a dark wash over very thinned paint, mixed with some kind of transparent solid, such as varnish or floor wax. It's a great way to simulate grime and ambient occlusion, and make the small details pop.
Little fact about the Harlequins being so rare-from what memory serves-despite being a 1st Edition army from the 90s, they have like maybe ten official models that are explicitly Harlequins, and not just Eldar kitbashing or 3-d printed.
These are my favourite videos! I love seeing the momos miniatures across all skill levels. The little tricks and new imaginative things that everyone presents are so good. GOOD JOB MOMOS! 🎉❤
I Also made a mini based on Matara (not Warhammer though, an indie company model) as well as her NEMESIS the spooky ghosty Mint. Also more recently Calli as a Sister of Battle. I'm not on the Discord though, so even though I posted it on the Twitter art tag I doubt Matara will ever see it lol
I'm going to be surprised if no one draws art of a 40k Captain Zen being consistently followed by a gigantic fangirling swarm lord Matara on a battlefield.
I wish I was there to show some of the stuff I’ve painted. It isn’t exactly the best, but recently I’ve gotten back into painting Warhammer minis, and I’ve gotten a lot better from beforehand, especially since the day I post this comment is actually nearly 4 AM on Christmas Day and I may get a bunch more Marines. Also, Merry Christmas anyone who sees this comment-
I was very intimidated about painting at first as well, but it’s not that bad once you do it a couple times. Now I am by no means a great painter, but they do get done… eventually.
Is there somewhere I can send work off for another one of these? Can't always catch streams due to work, but it's nice to catch up with these videos while I'm painting!
What part? For the lore, Bricky has some good faction and history overviews. For painting, it depends, Duncan Rhodes has some good stuff for beginners and is kind of the most famous teacher for mini painting. That said, there are a bunch of techniques and tools associated with it, some of which make things a lot easier, but it means it's hard to give a simple overview
after whatching Mata's warhammer40k stuff,i looked at the wiki to get a better idea of it and all i can think is....NAZIS IN SPACE .thats what it boils down too and i dont see what everyone likes about it.

I’ll try this next time I paint shit let you know
@@diz5342 I tried, THIS SHIT WORKS. Kind of heretical magic to me ngl))
Light browns as a first layer can work, too.
I always painted a light brown underneath it. Same idea but I found that 2 thin coats of yellow were enough for a good finish.
Yeah, pink! It feels really weird to do but looks awesome!
Matara mama wants you to buy the merch. My favorite warhawk
something for new painters is these come in pieces, paint them then assemble them. take it from someone that learned that the hard way.
see i've been painting for a couple of years and i KNOW that sub-assemblies just objectively make it easier but i am also a stubborn bastard who just really likes having the full mini together from the get-go
Sometimes, but painting each piece can also be a bigger pain than painting an assembled model.

10:18 I used one of my eyelashes to paint the pupils on my tau lol
Buy the merch? Yes ma'am!
Nurgle is quite possibly the easiest army to paint and kitbash
:0 dudeeee those are my models on the thumbnail thats awesome af

“Buy the merch!”
But bug mom, I just got a new repulsor tank!
Why wasn't it a carnifex you dare to grow the resistance against bug mom?
28:37 when you heat up metal, it turns blue ad honestly looks just like that.
I can't wait for the day when Mata starts to paint hers and shows us!
I've been doing silver accents on all the wing accessories on my custodes. I call em the silverwings

I would love to see Mint as C'tan shard and then wisp necrons
I love I love the positivity in this video!
Need to get Taka and Matara together in person to do an army paint.
Doing pannel lining with a wash is super easy and makes one of the biggest jump in quality in miniatures
I'm going to be surprised if no one draws art of a 40k Captain Zen being consistently followed by a gigantic fangirling swarm lord Matara on a battlefield.
7:00 There are 2 reasons. 1 painting, it is torture. And 2 because you have a VERY small pool of minies. So not much to collect.
If blue for orks means luck. Then that neuron is lucky😂 26:53 - 28:48

Harlequins also don't have a lot of models do you have like maybe 5 to 6 total different units for the entire Army
17:50 - Biblically accurate Matara.
Light browns as a first layer to yellow can work, too.
I always enjoy these kind of videos!
Dang how do I submit my stuff to show off? *stares at his pile of kustom gubbins*
Agreed I have chaos knights and would love to submit them for viewing pleasure. But I can't find anywhere with an explanation.
@@jacobcorona535 it was a timed event, she may do it again tho. If you are in the discord they will probably make an announcement.
@carterremm that is what I have been trying to join but wasn't sure how.

Was expecting a sister of battle for Zen, but thats cool too

Cant still believe the Praise from mata
I would love to buy mama’s merch but the shipping cost over 900 USD wtf😭😭😭
my autistic ass heard kamen rider and immediately went over to my phone to like the video (i had the video on as back ground noise)
Mata is the worlds best hype man (woman)
Where can i send pics of my Iron Warriors stuff?! I wanna show Matara my Iron Warriors!!!
Zentreya is an honorary Iron Warrior.
why do we hate the barrel drilling? I have missed the reasons for being anti drilling.
Idk. It's an easy step that objectively looks better, but I understand why people don't wanna do it for the whole army.
I really only do it when am like bored and don't want to paint anything
The newer paints are a lot better and actually makes them look great, as compared to when I started in the early 90s
I love your new models 😊..! Need to get lots of figures. 😊
Megadeamon MY BOI MADE IT!!!
Your voice is like music to my ears Matara 🎶 🎵 😍 ❤️
Is there a place to submit them.
Damnit, I wish I knew about this... I would have loved to post up my minis
Idk how to buy the merch
We need a Matara model that's conveniently close to the Swarmlord in size.
I assume these submissions are already closed? Or is this like an ongoing thing that I could submit stuff for?
Love this
I wish I could of seen a picture of my war hammer mini
Can someone explain Warhammer to me I just got into it

If you do watch anything from Bricky just be prepared for wrong prounouciations on every other word on his older vids lol
I fuckin forgot to send my pictures.
Y do i feel like buying merch😅.... Weird like some tyranid hivemind giving the kiss
oh my birthday is january 15th
very nice :3
I love you Matara Kan. Please marry me.

Still not confident to submit any of my work. I'm mid and going against pros and simps.
My man, even the Angry Marine submission received some decent praise. You got this.
