In this video I'll show you how to use CapCut's AI characters (avatars.) We'll start with the simple steps of adding an AI Character in CapCut, and then I'll show you some tips and tricks to make your avatar look a bit more realistic and have some fun with it!
We don't have to just think of AI characters and avatars in their typical "presenter" style... with CapCut and an imagination, we can make them into interesting characters in the video.

Why there is no AI Characters on my capcut app?
That's a good question. Unfortunately, it's impossible for me to answer because CapCut does not communicate or publish what's supposed to be in each version. I'm using CapCut for desktop PC. AI characters were there when I made this video. They disappeared after an update. Reappeared, but in a different place, after another update. Then, they reappeared in their original location but with a cost, even for Pro subscribers. I can't say if it's a matter which numerical version you are using, whether it's web vs. desktop vs. mobile, whether it's PC vs MAC, or perhaps the region of the world you are using it from (which does affect the availability of some features.)

Absolutely. I assume you're referring to the room interior background that I have the AI character in?

@ironbarkbob I haven't forgotten this request. I've actually recorded this video 4 times and edited 2 of those. ...and they all were terrible! If I watched a video on how I made that background, I would never make the background that way again!
I used Canvas Editor to take a stock photo and add some things to it, like a backpack on the floor and a pizza box on the table, some stuff on the counter, and to make a few things about the room less fancy.
What I didn't really appreciate is that each one of those changes took many attempts and trying different approaches (mask, erase, sketch, settings adjustments) until I finally got one little thing the way I wanted and then onto the next element.
When I try to make a video demonstrating the process, it becomes painfully obvious that it's inefficient and unpredictable. Not just the kind of unpredictable that comes with generative AI, but in a way that I can't explain why it generates a slightly distorted version of the underlying image on an attempt where I've erased the area in question and dialed the settings to push it to follow my prompt. Then, immediately before or afterward, a much less drastic approach like masking with lower prompt-adherence and lower image adherence will create something new, albeit not what I wanted.
I've spent hours reading Leonardo's documentation, watching their tutorials, and experimenting but it remains a less-than-optimal approach.
With the release of the Phoenix model, I'm finding it much easier to get the backgrounds I had in mind and, if not, the 'edit with ai' now makes it easy to tweak the generations for purposes just like this, and it works pretty well. Between that and then possibly making one or two small tweaks using the realtime canvas, I don't think I'd go about editing a background using the canvas editor unless I was really determined and nothing else was working.

I'm based in the UK. It seems this feature has been removed for me. I did see it a month ago, but have recently updated the app and it's gone.
That's annoying. I don't understand why they would do such a thing.
i can't find that Ai Charater. do I have to join in the Pro version?
There's nothing I see that indicates any of the characters are pro only. There's a down arrow just below the first bunch of characters, click on it to expose more. (If you haven't already.) Also, might want to make sure you're updated to the latest version of CapCut desktop.
i dont see a character section either and im on the pro version.
That's odd. I'm using the desktop for PC app and it's currently near the top, left-most panel, to the right of import, text, audio, etc. I can't say about web or mobile because it seems they have different features depending on platform and they tend to live things from one version to another... I'm on the latest version available to me, but I get the impression that different regions get updates at different times, based on other reports.

@@soundofthegardenwatc after the most recent update, I no longer have AI Characters in the media panel. I can still get to them if I add text to the timeline, select that text, and then go over to the properties panel on the right.
i dont see this in my capcut options. no ai character
It's now in the media panel. Left side, at the top, after import, audio and a few others .. may have to scroll those options to the right to see it. That's on CapCut desktop. I'm not sure about web or mobile because each platform seems to have different features available and they tend to put things in different places on different platforms, and occasionally move them. 🤷
@soundofthegardenwatc since I updated to the latest version, the AI characters have disappeared from the media panel (left panel where 'import' lives.) I can still get to them if I select text and scroll horizontally through the properties panel (right side panel.) Weird! I wish CapCut would not play hide-n-seek with features. 😃
@@excelerator im going to have to try that. i held a older free version for a while because of text feature they took away from free version. do you know what version you had that had the ai characters
I know on 4.0 they aren't in the media panel, but if I select text I can get to them in the properties panel. I want to say that's how it was in 3.8, then in 3.9 they showed up in the media panel... Then disappeared from there in 4.0.
