I've had my 350P for about 10 years & am really an occasional user. My 'grade school! welding education was learned on an old Lincoln gas engine and later an Airco DipPak 250. All was well until I took on [or tried] aluminum welding of our neighborhood irrigation works that I hit the proverbial wall. Had a pretty good teacher in the group but I never got the hang of it. Then one day Miller Pulse makes its debut & made aluminum welding child's play [at least in my world]. About 4 days ago I had a *piece of cake* small welding job where I needed to weld some washers on a 1/2" axle. Fired up my 350P for this all steel 10 minute job. For days later and I'm still struggling with it. The last time I used the machine [4 months ago] it was to weld some hooks on the loader bucket. All steel work that went off without a hitch. Now all the damn thing will do is deposit a single bead and quit. Wait a few seconds and get another bead. Like a breaker was tripping & resetting. Was going to take it in for repair on Monday but decided to listen to Chris' video again. This time I was paying more attention to the Timers segment when he mentioned the Spot timer. Didn't know it existed but it sure sounded like it could be my problem. Crossed my fingers & headed for the shop. Sure enuf, the Spot was set on its shortest time, reset it to 0 & you can guess the rest. Thanks Chris, you made my day!.

Do you still have this machine ? Are you happy with it ? It's on my short list.

umm, 3 phase? I believe that unit is also single phase..also you called out the gases on your wall as argon 1st, blended 2nd and C02 3rd. should you be connected to the 1st one?? I presume you are using this welder for Aluminum?

Chris Smith This machine is currently configured for ER70S-6. Yes this machine will convert to single phase but requires a lot more amperage for that set-up. With welding mild steel the shielding gas that the students use is CO2. It is the most cost effective gas and requires a little bit more skill to master.

Is the setup for the 350 and 350p the same?

I would say they are, but depending on model and vintage they might vary a little.
