We dropped off the car a few weeks ago, I saw the Midnight Blue DBS that is now in my collection, and more recently Tom and Brad went to check up on the latest stages of the inspection and what had been found by the McGurk Performance Cars team while carrying out their work. Along the way, we've replaced and upgraded quite a few components including the timing cover that was the source of the leak, the thermostat and oil cooler, plus replaced the control arms after the bushes had seized. Cosmetically it also had some improvements including painting the corroded mirror arms, restoring the leather of the seat, and at great cost replacing the frayed driver's seatbelt.
This isn't everything that the car needs, but certainly makes a great first step. On a car of this age, there are choices about how to maintain it but considering the patchy history since I sold it nearly 10 years ago I was keen to get the experts at McGurk's to go over it in detail and ensure despite driving few miles a year going forwards that it will be in good shape. With the sheer volume of work involved, an independent can offer more affordable labour rates while using a team that originally worked on these cars, hence my choice for all of these fixes.
We're off as a team from @TheShmuseum with the BMW M3 to pick up @Shmee150's original Shmeemobile and get it back to the barn!

You should have an air compressor with air lines installed, that'll be an easy way to keep dust off the banners and out of the rafters. Should also provide quick access to air for tools or what not.
If you do put the air compressor outside in a shed. You don't want the noise in the Shmuseum.
I would also suggest those "BIG ASS FANS" on ceiling! Also you could get some kind of moving water feature to clean the air also like an indoor waterfall thing.

The Lego display really does look very good in those IKEA units. Good to see the Roadster shaping up. That trim piece is a must have to tidy things up a bit. It would be good to see the improvement Topaz can accomplish when/if it goes over there for detailing. Thank you.

I'm shocked at the pricetag of the servicebill. I mean I know it's an Aston Martin and it's 13 years old, but still. The car has only done just over 30k miles. The wear and tear is just mindbogling.
It's not a service though is it. It's a service, replacement and repair bill.

Hes been done big time, that or he has asked for every little thing to be replaced from factory as new, madness.
I like to think of it more like £5k, plus another £5k that the previous owner didn't spend.
@@Wertical21 Completely agree. Some of that stuff should have been done as maintenance work by the previous owner and where ever they took it for a service. I guess they simply didn’t drive it. I hope he got a good deal on the car but knew full well he would need to spend some cash to get it back to a decent level.
That's great to see the 3 Aston Martins in the garage. It would be cool to see all 3 on a road trip or even a lap around the green hell AkA the Nurmberg ring. A replacement for the Gwagon perhaps a american pickup truck because in a previous video and trip state side you did consider a pickup truck as a replacement for the g63.

10 years ago or so I had a day out at Goodwood in all Aston martins of the day. By far for me, the best round that fast track was the Vantage S. great, great car.

It would be a superb addition, but unfortunately they are now very expensive already

@sean Murphy, I don't think it's about affordability, wrong word used there, but i like how humble Shmee is, besides the crazy price hikes, he is telling you that as much as he really likes the car, he is somewhat not entirely convinced about it, believe it or not, once he is convinced, he will buy it..
Slightly different conditions for the Vantage today - cold wet motorway - compared to the first time seeing it - top down warm & sunny driving the twisty roads around Monaco!
Btw, your managed to keep the final bill from McGurk down to £7k...oh and £one beautiful V12 DBS !! Bargain !!

M3 strength is it’s duality. Now that chassis has a decent rear bench with legroom! So both luxury saloon and sports car 😀
I'm going to have my toolboxes up the back of my garage all set up nice n shiny but being all snapon tools they are completely sealed and purel display, I've got my useable snapon tools aswell of course but I want 2 of each tool so I don't have a dirty set all the time and the cars match the boxes nicely

@@jamie123b Last summer was a 100 + yr drought...the year before it was too wet. We had snow storms at the beginning of September last year too.
@@jamie123b We seem to get a lot of extreme weather...tonight's low is -27C, and just a couple hrs north of me they are getting -37C. Good times, when you factor in blowing snow too. LOL
@@jamie123b Kinda extreme temps here, not so much middle ground. After 8 months of winter with -20C being my guess of an average, then 3 moths of summer, with close to 20+ hrs of daylight we hit 41C for near 3 weeks in the drought; but a normal summer (1/2 of June, July & Aug) we are lucky to get 2 about weeks of heat above 25C. Usually also get 2+ weeks of extreme cold below -30C. We have had -46C this winter already.

difference in people. Tim gets a puncture, lifts the car and takes it to a shop. He has a jack and stands... props. The puncture is in the center of the tire. I get a puncture in a sidewall, 20 miles from the nearest road, and I patch it with a dozen plugs... Its ugly, yet, it makes it not only to the road, but lasts until I get it home, a couple weeks. Then I get a new tire.
That Aston is a good looking car.

Please don't mess with the Aston too much as it's going to be an important part of your family history, if you ever are blessed with children it's going to be a story to tell them, and then if you can keep it even longer a story for the grandchildren. Would you ever start a build channel where you can bring a classic back to life or even just take an older car to its ultimate performance, pick up an old Sierra Sapphire and turn it into a Cosworth that you could use for track days but make it a proper weapon

You should get a rolls-Royce for those days you get chauffeured around, I’m sure your back will thank you. A ghost would be suiting as they have the sporty element. Or maybe a Bentley flying spur, newer and even more sporty pending on trim options. Well I say newer they both have new models

Did I miss the video where you replaced the tires? If I remember correctly, when you bought the car back, it still had the tires that you had originally installed.
Got a great merch idea, a shmee 150 branded magnetic nuts and bolts little tray. The best tool is not actually a tool! How many times you lost a nut before it went back on ?? I have one already and use

Polyurethane the floors... avoid future troubles from spills and messes. It'll be way easier to keep clean.
The RS3 being an AWD, can you change 1 tyre at a time?
My tyre guys always tell me that I must change 2 at a time, either both fronts or both rears.
The tread wear should be minimal given it's a new car.....hopefully.

Astons have always been ridiculously expensive to maintain. Friend of mine got rid of his Ferrari because of servicing costs, and bought an Aston....boy was he in for a shock!.

Audio in recent videos sounds a bit bad. Mic's sound like they might be failing, got echo in some areas and in and out in other areas and the odd crackle here and there. Doesn't sound as good as it use to be, noticed this on both channels. Might be time for a upgrade.

It hasn't yet! Won't be the best lap, it's far too softly sprung, but it would be great to do it

You know how you have the car cover for the Ford GT that is made to look like the car, why haven't you got them made for all your cars? They are looking really dusty sitting uncovered. Would be awesome to have them covered up but still look like the cars are uncovered.
How about a cheeky carbon intake? You'll be able to hear the V8 better and the intake air flow will be more efficient ,but you won't make much louder. If Tim doesn't like it he can always take them off.
