Excellent video complication! Really appreciate the contributions from everyone. What a magical moment. I really love seeing the warm reception for what is probably the biggest PR boon that Union Pacific has ever thought of.
Great video!!! I made a video for my channel at the crossing just before where you started your video. Thanks for doing this to keep the steam spirit alive.
My co-worker amd I drove all the way from McKinney that morning to see 4014. We were just beyond the Trilight at 2:27! We were there for almost 6 hours 🤣 we both got sun burned lol
I almost saw it In Big Sandy too, but they said it broke down in Mt. Pleasant and wouldn't be there until 3. and school had to come first. Maybe someday I can get a cab ride. Never know when Big Boy will be coming through East Texas again.
Big Boy did not itself break down, but a train in front of it struck a vehicle, and then soon after broke down. Traffic was backed up for hours, including Big Boy unfortunately.
Jeff, A Freight train had a malfunction between Mt. Pleasant and Big Sandy. Due to the malfunction of the freight the #4014 did not arrive at Big Sandy until 5:45 pm so it was 4 hours and 45 minutes behind schedule. When it left Big Sandy it was in highball mode! Neil
It was delayed leaving Texarkana because of a freight train-vehicle collision. And then that same train had mechanical problems which required a lot of time to get figured out.
Question>> Why is always there a diesel electric loco attached with the big boy? Detailed explanation solicited.... First response to be acknowledged by the quizzer and blessed heartily...
Partly for backup but also for PTC (positive Train Control) to operate on the system. Thare were times on this last trip that BB operated for short periods without the diesel. Neil
@@NeilADahl I still see end screen showing video over something you wrote. I don't use those in my videos. Otherwise a really nicely done shoot. I can't say I've seen 4014 at night till now thanks.
She will arrive at Fort Worth on the evening of October 9th and will Depart October 13th, at 8:00 am. Check: www.up.com/heritage/steam/schedule/index.htm for schedule updates. Neil
Dude, how is he still pulling passengers when back then he's supposed to be a freighter? And that DIESEL IS STILL THERE?! AFTER THEY INSTALLED THE PTC SYSTEM ON HIM?!?!

I caught it my hometown of Corsicana i got a video on my channel of it plus another video of another train that came before the big boy arrived
The curve is not from Texarkana, it's from Gilmer, Texas, cause there are multiple towns between Texarkana and Big Sandy.

@@jovetj Oh, yeah. My bad. I asked later, and I can confirm it was a semi truck that caused the Big Boy to be delayed
www.up.com/heritage/steam/schedule/index.htm This schedule has it in Fort Worth for 2 days on display. Neil
Was it delayed somewhere b/w BigSandy & Terrell?

Union Pacific big boy.
i like how they got the tx flag on there
They heralded the flag of the state they were for the entire journey!
Just curious……why is the modern diesel in the line of cars ?
@@benniebarrow348 It’s there to provide additional support and power in case the Big Boy breaks down or needs extra traction on steeper grades.
@@djpackard5120 makes sense …..thanks
@@benniebarrow348 no problem
Pretty sure it's for dynamic braking that the 4014 can't provide.
