My all time favorite, brings tears to my eyes it's so powerful. Good job on the history, I never knew that. My Dad,Howard Rhoton was one of the original Country Boys, Little Jimmy Dickens band. Played and was good friends with Buddy. I was blessed to hear alot of great stories of them on the road mid 50's. Miss them both dearly.
Eric, your Dad was a great guitar player ! the Country Boys instrumentals that he Buddy and Spider Wilson cut is some of the greatest ''country jazz'' to date !
Buddy was, is and always be THE greatest Pedal Steel Guitar player to ever have lived. And that includes those yet unborn! Jerry Byrd, of course, is the greatest laptop steel guitar player. Just an example of Buddy: One of the most important things on a SG is the "Vibrato". Sadly most don't get it right. Now listen to the last vibratos that Buddy is doing at the very end of the recording. His vibrato is totally perfect. The timing, timbre, touch and tone are also perfect. And just one more example if'n yuz let me: Notice his harmonics. Another thing that is almost impossible not to miss it. But NOT Buddy... ...and this is because he learned "another way" to create them; and he said, "If I don't do it this way, I miss them sometimes!". As all of us do. LOL! Buddy Charleton once watched him practice his new found harmonics for hours and hours at the back stage of the Grand Ole Opry. That was the way Buddy was. He would practice until it was perfect to his ear. And THAT says it all. George L once said, "Buddy told me that his 2nd string was slightly low on my latest PU ". George took it apart and tested it, and he said, "So be it, Buddy was dead right again!". He further said, "There is NO body that has the ear of Buddy Emmons!" A dear friend and I miss him terribly. May Jesus bless his precious soul.
My Dad's favorite song ❤
So much feeling, talent, and tone. Awesome! You can't just listen once.
This was the first tune my former teacher, Neil Flanz, showed me on PSG. He knew Buddy and was absolutely a legend. RIP Neil!
Greatest steel player ever in the whole wide world!
So much emotion and soul in those hands. Thank you Buddy for all you did for steel guitar.

My god that was beautiful. I doubt there will be another as good as the big E.
