The way he is worded seems like if you find a way to animate your opponents enchantments and artifacts and lands you can also steal those... Cause he seems to only care that they were a creature when they died and not when you are resurrecting them.
I think that last line in the steal clause is to make sure you only turn a reanimated creature into a Zombie, and not turn a card in the graveyard into a Zombie. That event could theoretically happen with cards that prevent leaving the graveyard, such as Kunoros, Hound of Athreos if the “if you do” boilerplate was not there.
Also, creature tokens do hit the graveyard before they fizzle from existence, which Lim-Dul would also see from the lack of denoting whether the creature was also a card (not a token).
It's possible that your opponent turned their artifacts into creatures and he can reanimate those but they will only be artifacts at that point. Also, this game has gotten even crazier and he can take almost anything from Bello provided you can use instant speed interaction to force a sacrifice. Enchantments, Artifacts, lands and Planeswalkers can all be turned into a creature. Heck, if you destroy a transformed battle at this point, you could return it, but I believe the card reverts to the battle side as soon as it leaves the battlefield meaning it will return as the battle. In any of these cases, these things don't get the Zombie type, because otherwise they would also technically need the Tribal/Kindred type. Which is weird.
@@Bongus_BubogusHe might not specify at first, but if you read past the optional cost it says "you may return that card," meaning there's no way to get a token back when it dies
That and all the 'big mana' stuff. Nykthos, Coffers, Crypt Ghast, Etc. Definitely have to play the long game with this one as your commander. That seven mana REALLY hurts, though I could see him being a decent reanimation target with commanders such as The Scarab God or Varina.
man i miss these old magic characters now it just feels the fantasy version of the mcu. dominaria really had some of the best lore in magic. ice age plus time spiral after the events of urza’s saga was peak.
Ive considered doing this guy in mono black artifacts, use that to get all your mana, do artifact bullshit to tap and untap stuff, but its still really hard setup and fragile
I tried to play this commander cos I like how an ass he was in Ice Age story lol. Unfortunately, yeah he's not thst great. His new card, Raven Man, also not super great but far better imop.
I hated him in the Ice Age cycle bro was a menace to Jodah and Jaya

When i see this i immediately think unwinding clock + mana rocks would be the dream

oh my first Comander Deck. it has bin 10 years.
I forgot about this mans. I used to see him a lot
He seems a solid 99 in a Dimir zombies deck
Big fan of this guys vault
I think it's a crime to run Lim-Dul without Oath of Lim-Dul
Hell yeah! Love my mono-black Lim-Dûl
He'd be so much better if he was 4 CMC and either dimir or grixis

If this dude was printed today he would just cost 4 mana. Thats like not even me being hyperbolic/ making a joke lol
Fun trumps good in this case for me. Just wish he was also a zombie.
