DTW is my home airport. Your review of the airport is spot on. DTW is so underrated. I travel monthly state side and about four times a year internationally. DTW is one of the easiest airports to transverse. I’m now a new subscriber of your AMAZING channel.
Recently been here for the first time to catch a flight from the McNamara terminal. Everything is so clear and easy to navigate, with lots of seating areas, restrooms and eating/drinking places. Excellent experience.
We moved from metro Detroit about 18 years ago. We miss the area very much, everything from our tiny house in Ferndale, our favorite restaurants, Bakers Keyboard Lounge (the oldest jazz club in the country) and since we lost our parents, DTW. If we ever traveled home by air, we knew it would be a smooth trip through DTW. The Delta Sky Lounge is a dream and a pleasure waiting for your flight.
DTW is my home airport. My husband & I are disabled and require the wheelchair service. There have been times when not enough wheelchair pushers were available and we had one person pushing 2 wheelchairs! They are not allowed to use the tram if one person is pushing 2 wheelchairs down "the longest terminal corridor in the US"! Sometimes there are 16-17 year old teenagers working 2nd shift. They get paid $7.25/hr which is minimum wage. If you use this service please remember to tip your wheelchair pusher! We tip $20 per chair.
I recently flew through DTW for the first time. It’s extremely easy to navigate through the main terminal. Despite the fact it’s huge and nearly a mile long. Also a very clean airport with lots of amenities.
Just an amazing and informative video. Thank you so much. I have a tight connection here, but I feel much better about it all thanks to this video. I appreciate your work! Thank you 🙏
I connected through DTW from Amsterdam in April of last year and it was a very easy airport to navigate. I only had carry-on luggage, so after passport control I quickly passed TSA and found my way to the gate for my connecting flight. I only missed out on riding the APM as it wasn't really necessary for me at the time 🙂
DTW consistently ranks in the Top 10 as one of the Best Airports in the United States for customer satisfaction and has even held the #1 spot a few times
I wonder why no hub airport in the US follow DTW's model, in which, the hub airlines (Delta in this case) has its own terminal for handling international departures, arrivals, and immigrations 😢
I’m considering taking my first solo trip ever and have been super anxious about not going to the correct terminal and/or not knowing where to go once I finally figure out where and how to park. Three minutes in and this video has already answered two of my most worrisome questions. Thanks for posting! Going back to watching and taking mental notes now😅
My Home Airport as well. I've flown Northwest, Southwest and Frontier to and from Oregon and also Colorado when my Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles were still alive. Now recently booked for my 3 year belated college graduation gift which is a 10 day trip to Southern Germany/Austria via Delta Airlines in Late August/Early September! Can't wait to see the land of my blood ancestors, the Natural Beauties like the Alps, the Great Meat-Based Cuisines and the History (Musical, War or Cultural) of various locations throughout both countries. I may even get to see my father's buddies from when he had fairly frequent business trips for Volkswagen as Parts Middle Management! Maybe even Tour the Wolfsburg Factory!
We are flying from Louisville to Detroit for a connection flight to London. Our flight from Louisville was moved back by almost 2 hours so now we have 59 minutes between flight. As we do not fly often, I have been super nervous about the short layover times. Hopefully everything runs smoothly.
If they're on the same booking (I'm assuming both legs are on the same Delta ticket) the connection is built-in, meaning they're betting you'll make it. Thankfully, DTW is one of the best airports in the country for a tight connection. From the moment you walk off the plane till the time you get to your next gate, even at the farthest possible distance, is about 10 minutes for most Delta flights. Most flights between Louisville and Detroit these days use the central B gates, and nearly all international flights use the central A gates. Connect through the tunnel between A and B, and you'll find your gate with ease and time to spare!
I love DTW. Really easy with nice shops. Always connected there on my trips from WAS-PEK. The skyclub is really nice, although the food is mediocre. I wonder if the tunnel is longer than SLC.
I love your channel sir, last year you helped me navigate SeaTac and i had a seamless tranist with their underground trams and this November I'm flighing from Detroit to Amsterdam so I guess I should expect an A gate?
I'm so glad! Yes, it will certainly be an A gate. Flights to Europe always depart from A gates in the center of the concourse to accommodate the planes that fly the route!
We only have one airport in our area but since it is pretty small it only goes two places Minneapolis and Detroit if we’re flying west we go to Minneapolis but if we’re flying south or east we go here
I have a connecting flight from Charlotte to here, will be flying from Detroit to Denver and I am really nervous since this is my first time going through here. I wont know my gate arrival or departure til around June 1st or 2nd will be flying out on the 3rd and I get really anxious about that! Will be flying through Delta if you know which Concourse they are usually in it would be a great help and appreciate it if you do reply! On the other hand this looks like a really nice airport.
DTW Metropolitan Airport is one of America's best mega world class airports ever built. Located in Romulus, MI, an airport suburb of Detroit, it's one of the best hubs of Delta Airlines other than MSP Int'l Airport.
3:53 I found a mistake in this video. This is the wrong IATA code of Shanghai Pudong International Airport. PVD is the airport code of Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick, RI south of Providence, RI. The airport code of Shanghai's world class airport is PVG. But hey, at least the rest is a good video of the tour of DTW.
Since Delta bought Northwest DTW has been Delta' second largest hub (it was NWA's largest) but according to this vlog it's Delta's 3rd largest... So maybe one of Delta's other hub's have supplanted Detroit? If true, then which one is now 2nd?
Detroit was already serving Beijing, it’s just in 2023, they, along with SeaTac, will be changing their service from Beijing-Capital Airport to Beijing-Daxing Airport
According to Delta, there aren't any flights between DTW or SEA and either PEK or PKX for now. I'm fairly certain both served PEK non-stop before COVID-19, though.
Hi I'm Kevin Polzin with along Kristel Polzin together to get ready to do my real 🆔 card together and ready to catch the flight 🛫 heading to California very soon.
Many announcements and signs are in Japanese and English. If there are not bilingual gate agents or flight attendants servicing your flight, find the nearest gate where a flight is leaving for Japan; the agents there have the highest chance of speaking Japanese.
The airport is a good distance from downtown, about 20 miles as the crow flies. It's served by Detroit's express bus service, which they named "FAST." The 261 FAST bus heads downtown every 30 minutes or so, stops at both the McNamara and Evans terminals, and the trip to or from the airport takes about an hour.
One of the cleanest airports I’ve been in. Very easy to get around.
Especially for how busy it is!
They’re were always workers cleaning the bathrooms. Loved that airport

The fact that this was uploaded on the same day as my birthday. This airport gives me memories.
One of the best airports I have been in, made for a very comfortable and smooth layover

It's about as foolproof as possible!

This is my home airport! I was waiting for this video, haven’t flew in in 4 years but I still know this layout like the back of my hand.
DTW is one of my favorite hubs, it was a pleasure to cover it!

Same
One of my favorite Airports. Love the indoor tram.
I could stay for days in that airport and not have a single complaint😂 I love that place
I'm glad you feel that way! DTW's a great airport whether you have 10 minutes or 10 hours!
I was there last year. I remember moving through a tunnel to get to the other side. The red train was a marvel to me seeing it for the first time.
Pretty neat, huh?
Thanks for the tour, I’m connecting here from South Carolina to Las Vegas looks to be a straight forward connection.
I recently flew through DTW for the first time. It’s extremely easy to navigate through the main terminal. Despite the fact it’s huge and nearly a mile long. Also a very clean airport with lots of amenities.
DTW's great!

This is my home airport and I have NEVER I mean NEVER had a bad experience with DTW super easy to get around amazing hotel and so cleannn
Me neither!

I'll have 3 hours and 40 minutes in June 2024, plenty of time to explore DTW 🙂
I appreciate the information provided by this video.
Very underrated channel, I’m surprised you don’t have more subscribers. I subscribed :)
That's how we get there; thanks for joining! :)
Very nice airport, I flew frontier a320 out of here on way to Orlando, great experience even in spring break
Very nice!

Thank you for posting. Traveling here seems like a breeze now
Great! DTW is one of the easier large airports in the U.S. to navigate!

Glad you enjoyed it!
A great airport

It is!
Love the vid, absolut subscription
Ahh. So relaxing. 🥰

I am use to the TSA abuse leaving Houston IAH and Hou, leaving DTW was soo much simpler and non nerve-racking.
Just booked a flight through here! So excited!
Awesome; have a safe journey and enjoy DTW!
To TSA security checkpoint and ready to booked airline tickets together and boarding pass

@@MilesByFoot ok thank you..
Thanks for this video..
Welcome!
I love your videos!!!!
Love this format 👍
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching!!
Back in the 70s we got high driving around metro and ended up on the tarmac, Don’t know how we made it that far.
A lot has changed since then, that's for sure!

i think DTW looks like a mixture of Itami(osaka) and Nagoya (cyubu) airport in japan
This is one of my favorite features of O'Hare's design!

While it surprised me too, Minneapolis is just a hair bigger these days! DTW could take it back any year, though.
Shout out from Louisville :)
A neighbor! Thanks for stopping by :)
This is quite similar to Doha international in terms of design
Hopefully, Jetblue keeps the Spirit terminals when they officially buy them
Time will tell; for now, though, you can find both in the Evans terminal!

@@MilesByFoot they did serve PEK pre-COVID, and they were planning to switch over to PKX in 2020. But, for obvious reasons, that was delayed
3:57 PVG, not PVD 😅
Providence on the brain!

@Miles By Foot so is the Amtrak station. I honestly didn't like that but the Qline takes you downtown
Clark Jennifer Clark Jose Gonzalez Kimberly
last time i went there i saw someone’s dog pee on the airport floor
One of the joys of travel; no matter how much you plan, you never know what will actually happen!
Evans terminal is trash
