Dried beans I started to do rather than canned beans. Getting use to it in my routine. Helps save so money. Baking own buns, and bread, We love utility chickens when they go on sale so many meals and homemade chicken stock. Freezing your scraps like onion, carrot celery ends etc, to add to chicken carcasses to make stock; costing almost nothing ❤️ Herbs growing in winter those that overwinter well so they come back every year. My freezer and canning is my best way to save, salvage and budget.
Veggie Quesadilla, creamy mushroom/spinach barley, coleslaw, olive/pepper/onion pasta salad, rice pudding, homemade broccoli mac & cheese, veggie stuffed spaghetti squash and scones are my go to inexpensive comfort foods. Last year on my balcony I grew bok choy and radishes in planters for their greens to add extra nutrients to salads and soups. I also made a curry watermelon rind dahl (only the white part) last year that was ok for my first attempt. This year I am thinking about trying to sprout stuff and also planting some sweet potatoes for the greens.
This is so inspiring! Thank you so much, Jenn! You put so much work into your videos, it’s awesome! I’m definitely inspired to start meal planning all the way. 🥰 in Winnipeg food is getting pretty expensive as well. 🥵
I am weird, browned ground meat seasoned with garlic salt and boxed macaroni and cheese mixed together. Then we all add whatever we want. Picante, Chunky Salsa or ketchup.
Love the lipstick you wear in all the videos! Can you name your favorite ones and the brand name? We are alike on hair/skin color! Only if you have the time! Greets Brigitte
Aw, thanks! I think the one I was wearing this day was Revlon Super Lustrous 463 "Sassy Mauve." I also tend to use a matching lipliner over my entire lip before I put the lipstick on. Hope that helps! :)
I think I need help with this. I’ve tried so many times to create meal plans, but because of the different dietary issues in our house, I’ve gotten overwhelmed before the week was over. One child is so picky that I can only serve him specific foods that he likes, or he won’t eat at all. I have a ton of food restrictions, that leaves me a very limited diet. And I cannot touch meat, so any meat dishes, like meatloaf, chili, chicken, etc usually has to be pre-made, so I can just put it in the oven or instant pot. I also can’t stand for very long, so right now I have a lot of pre-packaged food, which I don’t like. The most ironic thing though? My kids love vegetarian sushi.
No such thing as picky unless he is buying. Fix your food if kid doesn't want it . He doesn't get any preference. Or old fashioned spanking then bedtime. He'll get it . Sooner or later. Give him the assignment.
black beans , corn, rice, bbq sauce to make it taste great.

Love the idea of doing dried beans instead of canned, Candice!!
Good ideas. soup is always a great way to use up veggies, keep scraps in your freezer and they will add up to give great flavor to homemade soups.
Such a good point about keeping veggie scraps in your freezer to use later in soup!

And it sounds like it's pretty cold out there right now!
@@JennLeast honestly it's not too bad right now after a couple weeks of -40 non-stop. I'll take -24 without complaints lol

Hope your staying safe and well during lockdown

That's too funny - sushi is probably one of the only things my kids won't eat, lol!
