    I love the :
    1. ' no weekend's in a room '.
    2. Being intentional about not demoralizing others.

I will be a showrunner one day. When that happens I will come back to the comment section and let you know. Thank you sooo much for this video.

Same. Trying to become a showrunner for my own Disney animated show after I graduate from college.
If we both work our asses off we are *GOING* to get those titles.

Such a constructive way to provide feedback! Rather than just the outright rejection or yesmen all around, the 'what if' will always improve ideas-

This sounds like Tyler Perry. He has even gone on record to say he hated having a writers room and he had to rewrite the work. He also blamed the writers for a dip in ratings on his shows

I was thinking the same thing. He would benefit from a collaborative environment, but he just doesn't want writers to get writing credit. He wants his name as the writer. I get it. When you are creative, you want the credit. But at some point, you need to think about quality. The good thing about most directors, they let writers be writers.

Exactly! When he said that he hated having a writer’s room, the word “difficult” just emerged in my brain. Lol

Given the issues with Divorce in the Black, this comment aged very well.

These interviews are very insightful. He makes some great points about how it all starts at the head or at the top. If the showrunner is toxic, then the entire writer’s room will suffer as well.

"What if..." is a positive and helpful phrase for writing. He seems to have lead a nurturing and productive room.

i've heard so many horror stories about the writer's room. This puts a spin on it I wasn't expecting.

What did you learn about the TV writers room you didn't know before?

Huh, this was a great insight! I can see where the show runners of some of my least favourite shows might have gone wrong.

Most adult swim shows and British comedy’s have a limited writers room South Park as well I think if certain shows like the boondocks is one persons story or show I can understanding wanting final rewrite and just having a few too bounce of / refine the story with typical family sitcoms with a 24 episode order I can get though.

I never been in a writers room while they are working.... shit just looks hella hard but i bet once I get in the same way I was on a film set, i'd be like, oh... i can get used to this.... till then, that shit looks hard.

He talks of a time where it was quiet but now everyone has a phone and an opinion about EVERYTHING sometimes it can be a good thing. but most times it isn't.

I totally agree with his last comment. People who leave social media are much happier. I dropped Twitter from my phone 3 months ago and only use it on my PC. Now when I am out or in bed or anywhere away from my PC I am not drawn to scroll endlessly through Twitter. And even at my PC I do not find it as addictive as it was on my phone.

The "what if" is the most patronizing bullshit "feedback" I've ever come across! That's what you use for 5th graders!

Delivery is everything. But that's asking a lot from writers 😂
