The rangers isnt actually a branch. It is the Army, and Rangers is a group within the Army. Have you talked to a recruiter yet? They would be able to give you the most advice about the differences between the two!
Run. Run. Run. And when you're done, run some more. If you can run your ass off before you get into boot camp, the rest is smooth sailing. Physically speaking.
I'm in the Army ROTC at MSU and I haven't went through basic training yet but I will be going soon. Its only my 2nd year and I think I have to go to basic before completing my 4 years in ROTC. I just wanted to say your videos are just really helpful. It has really helped me get ready mentally... since i'm already ready physically.
Just took my APFT last weekend. Scored a 283. Meh, still striving for that 300. But! to those who have trouble with the run: My tip to you is to find someone in front of you and try to catch them. Don't pick someone WAY in front of you. Just someone who is close. After you have passed that person. Find the next. Motivation is the key to running. 30sec to a min is alll mental. Now if you wanna knock 3 min off...well...start running!
Great tips & info on the APFT. I'm trying to hit a target goal for ARNG. The running event is where I need the most help/improvement. Honestly, I will probably never make height/weight but can pass the tape test. Thanks again for the great vid!
Hi! I'm in the process of joining the army and your videos have been SUPER helpful. What I want to know is how you prepared for the boot camp in general and how vigorous PT is. I'm just getting back into working out and I can definitely see a change in my endurance. Do you have any advice? Also, how did you stay so positive? I know that nobody is forcing me to join and that this is my decision but I'm having a hard time trying to look at the bright side everything.
ebee228 The best thing to do is find out if your unit has a set standard for PT test some units require that you achieve a 90 in each event this helps you decided on the best way to achieve your goals. If you would like to crush your PT test I recommend looking into the (PAST) Physical Ability and Stamina Test which the Air Force Pararescue uses
I would like to add something regarding improving run time: do more sprints or 60-30 - this will improve your run time. Do not do just distance running, it will not help.
I am so excited! I did cross country in high school so I'm hoping that'll be some good experience I have going into the army. My first test is next week when I'm doing in processing, but I think that's only 1s. 1 minute pushup, 1 minute situp, and 1 mile.
Thanks honey, but I'm a full time student working in the Reserves to transition over to a contracting job making great money. Thanks for your input though! Not doing the military for the money. If you'd like to stand on the frontline for your freedom instead of me, please be my guest.
What did you join inside the army? And these are good tips I took mine to be able to go to basic but i'm pretty nervouse for the pt test at the end of basic. Because I heard its double.
I have no upper body strength and I really need to build it up. Sit ups are no problem but push ups are pretty much a no go. Any ideas on how to better position or work up those muscles to meet standards?
lol I did tell him! :P My recruiter is Sgt McKnight though, I'm heading to basic this summer since I have to go eventually. :) its nothing I can't handle that i'm already doing :)
You mentioned in your last video that you were allowed to talk to the guys at basic training... My boyfriend is at basic trainh at the moment for a his ten weeks... That part scared me. He is a very attractive male... Should I be worried that he will be getting a lot of attention? I thought they would all be separate? It scared me alot... I don't want him to be connected with a women because they are going through the same thing... Please help! @ebee228
@sesshoumarulover23...GO MSU! Tell SSG Burkhart he's a sissy. Ask any question you have to him. He'll have great opportunities for you while you're in ROTC. Also @ ebee228, these are great videos. Keep them up.
Try college first. If you can't afford it, fall back on the Military where your entire education will be paid for. It's a hard life and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone unless they really had no choice. Then again, I was in throughout the war. Now that everything is dying down, it's probably a nice time to join up.
i really enjoy your videos alot and love hearing from a female about their experience! thank you for serving our country! your a great role model.

I plan on joining the Coast Guard this year. Thank you for your videos. keep up the great work!
Love the glasses look!! Do you know of any civilian workouts that are based off the Army?
there is a slight delay, not too long though. They don't hold mail on purpose, they try their hardest to get out out in a timely fashion.
