@@goomanhlr5697 I believe that building is the Jail. I think the other siren might've been the one on top of the fire station near by. The US Bank Stadium Light Rail Station is close by. I seen this one when I went by on the train
I like that attack signal. What, do they spam the noon blast a bunch of times or is that some sort of script in the computers? regardless, it sounded cool, and more of whelens sirens should do that.
Minneapolis doesn’t have a Whelen encoder, they use third party radios that are controlled by the county. Frontline programmed the attack signal on the sirens themselves that way.
I don't get it. This is basically a 2902 that's been re-branded. What's the difference between this and a normal 2902? Aren't they basically the same thing?
Nice video Josh! Was hoping there would be some recordings of these soon.
I am hoping to tape one of these from the ymca roof top deck soon
Love that installation! Cool video Josh.
Man, they put these things up fast.
Nice and awesome recording! I recorded a rare OA1 awhile ago; although it went for a mere ten seconds which was a little disappointing.
These are everywhere in MPLS. I thought they were WPS 2902s.
It's a beeper!
Those are so quiet the thunderbolt can be heard over it
I have seen this one, it is on top of a Traffic light
It might not be the same one, considering there are 15 of them here
GoomanHLR this one is on a traffic light though
I thought these were WPS 2902s. What’s the difference between the wps and omnialert? Whenever I go into the city, I will see these everywhere
Whelen WPS-2902s are voice-capable, whereas OA-2s are tone only.
At the intersection of South 5th Avenue and Park Avenue if anyone is wondering
Where's the one that winded down after this alert? It's gotta be near by. I heard the light rail train as well
Bradford WIMN if it’s near lyndale ave (not likely) or by the farmers market, it would be a Vortex R4, most likely another OA2

Why is there two of these every other block on Marquette Ave(4th and 6th Streets) and only one along Nicollet Mall? Just curious
My understanding is Minneapolis wanted more coverage of the downtown area to meet FEMA's standards
I live right by one of these sirens (I live in washington avenue) and theres the same siren
?
Cute.
For a city that big, only 2 cells? Wtf wow
These are only downtown. There are 15 of them, and they’re spaced 2-3 blocks from each other. A large majority of the city’s sirens are Vortex R4s.
@@mnsirens and maybe 1 4/5 port thunderbolt
It does *actual* attack!!!!
I like that attack signal. What, do they spam the noon blast a bunch of times or is that some sort of script in the computers? regardless, it sounded cool, and more of whelens sirens should do that.
Nah the company that installed the system just programmed the encoder call key to send the noon test command every eight or so seconds
Minneapolis doesn’t have a Whelen encoder, they use third party radios that are controlled by the county. Frontline programmed the attack signal on the sirens themselves that way.
There is a Siren still doing Alert in the background do you know where it was coming from
No, i do not.
Probably another Whelen 2902
@@TheMNrailfan227 *OA2 :)
That attack is interesting
Wow, they expect those tiny puny quiet things to be heard throught the city? HAHAHA yea right.
TheJakeman789 that’s why there are 15 of them
Instead of 15 of these just add several Vortex R2s Downtown that would reduce the overall cost
Gary Hisgun these are (I think) cheaper alternatives to the Vortex R2
@@garyhisgun4996 This makes sure the system is very audible throughout downtown, without being "too loud" in any one location. Avoids complaints.
Bruh i live in minneapolis minnesota far away from that siren and i can hear it
Is the 4/5 Thunderbolt still active?
Sirens of NE Ohio Yes.
Sirens of NE Ohio I like 4/5. Is there another 4/5 or just one?
Adam Carter Just the one.
Siren Hunter MN Do you think only one is going to removed it soon or does it still need to be keeping it all the time?
Adam Carter I’m not sure what you mean.
I don't get it. This is basically a 2902 that's been re-branded. What's the difference between this and a normal 2902? Aren't they basically the same thing?
PlatinumEagleStudio's These have Vortex cabinets so basically low cost 2902 that can’t do voice.
This is not the same as a 2902. 2902 has the capability to do voice whereas OA and FHS do not.
