    Nice video Josh! Was hoping there would be some recordings of these soon.

    Nice and awesome recording! I recorded a rare OA1 awhile ago; although it went for a mere ten seconds which was a little disappointing.

      These are everywhere in MPLS. I thought they were WPS 2902s.

    I have seen this one, it is on top of a Traffic light

    • @goomanhlr5697

      It might not be the same one, considering there are 15 of them here

    I thought these were WPS 2902s. What’s the difference between the wps and omnialert? Whenever I go into the city, I will see these everywhere

    • @jeremydunn6089
      @jeremydunn6089 5 лет назад +1

      Whelen WPS-2902s are voice-capable, whereas OA-2s are tone only.

    At the intersection of South 5th Avenue and Park Avenue if anyone is wondering

    Where's the one that winded down after this alert? It's gotta be near by. I heard the light rail train as well

    • @goomanhlr5697
      @goomanhlr5697 5 лет назад +1

      Bradford WIMN if it’s near lyndale ave (not likely) or by the farmers market, it would be a Vortex R4, most likely another OA2

      @@goomanhlr5697 I believe that building is the Jail. I think the other siren might've been the one on top of the fire station near by. The US Bank Stadium Light Rail Station is close by. I seen this one when I went by on the train

    Why is there two of these every other block on Marquette Ave(4th and 6th Streets) and only one along Nicollet Mall? Just curious

    • @MetroSignal
      @MetroSignal  5 лет назад

      My understanding is Minneapolis wanted more coverage of the downtown area to meet FEMA's standards

    For a city that big, only 2 cells? Wtf wow

    • @mnsirens
      @mnsirens 4 года назад

      These are only downtown. There are 15 of them, and they’re spaced 2-3 blocks from each other. A large majority of the city’s sirens are Vortex R4s.

    It does *actual* attack!!!!

  • @thattechdude
    @thattechdude 5 лет назад

    I like that attack signal. What, do they spam the noon blast a bunch of times or is that some sort of script in the computers? regardless, it sounded cool, and more of whelens sirens should do that.

    • @publicweather9633
      @publicweather9633 5 лет назад

      Nah the company that installed the system just programmed the encoder call key to send the noon test command every eight or so seconds

    • @mnsirens
      @mnsirens 4 года назад

      Minneapolis doesn’t have a Whelen encoder, they use third party radios that are controlled by the county. Frontline programmed the attack signal on the sirens themselves that way.

    • @goomanhlr5697
      @goomanhlr5697 5 лет назад +1

      TheJakeman789 that’s why there are 15 of them

    • @garyhisgun4996
      @garyhisgun4996 5 лет назад

      Instead of 15 of these just add several Vortex R2s Downtown that would reduce the overall cost

    • @goomanhlr5697
      @goomanhlr5697 5 лет назад +1

      Gary Hisgun these are (I think) cheaper alternatives to the Vortex R2

    • @Acoustic_Theory
      @Acoustic_Theory 4 года назад

      @@garyhisgun4996 This makes sure the system is very audible throughout downtown, without being "too loud" in any one location. Avoids complaints.

    I don't get it. This is basically a 2902 that's been re-branded. What's the difference between this and a normal 2902? Aren't they basically the same thing?

    • @sirenfreak57
      @sirenfreak57 5 лет назад

      PlatinumEagleStudio's These have Vortex cabinets so basically low cost 2902 that can’t do voice.

    • @DownToYouSirens
      @DownToYouSirens 2 года назад

      This is not the same as a 2902. 2902 has the capability to do voice whereas OA and FHS do not.
