1:25 bloody hell well done! About to do my first half race at Kenilworth and very excited now. Have run the distance twice so far with a 1:58 including a couple of long savage hills. Determined to get under 1:55 as I read it’s the UK average for men - so am 100% going to do it. Love this video and will be merrily following along from here - cheers and thanks for the laughs!
Kenilworth was my first ever half in 2023. Really enjoyed it despite the heat! Cracking atmosphere and really well organised. Might have to do it again this year.
Give MARM some “contemporary Female poets “ suggestions Claire he can’t be allowed to get away with this, keep the pressure up - you should not be denied !
Great summary, and I even managed to get in the video, albeit the back of me on the other side of the road. As a local runner and keen cyclist, I have to agree on your point. There were loads of cyclists who ignored the road closure.
One bloke on his bike had the good grace to mouth “shit!” When he saw hundreds of runners legging towards him!! (They aren’t all Crap Power Rangers) Thanks for watching the video!!
@@middleagedrunningman I did shout out to you but you looked like you were in the tune zone 🎶from the earphones 😂. You probably also had mild heatstroke when you got to my marshall point 😂
What a great advert for Kenilworth. I’ve booked in for the half marathon this September as I’ve missed out on the Oxford half this year. It will be my first visit to Kenilworth and I’m looking forward to it….not so much the hills though, heard they’re brutal.
Cheers Rich. Good to see you. Enjoyed our off camera chat at the end. Although I walked away wondering why I'd kneeled on one leg throughout - as if in the front row of a junior football team. Or, simply to give you a glimpse of my plums. Regardless - see you soon.
Another great summary - thank you! I was gonna find you and say hi but I've had a bug for 2 days so tried to keep some distance from hoomans. I did think I saw you on the course but the cap and sunnys confused me (seeing this video now confirms it WAS you, alas 8 hours late!) 2h44m for me (I'm terrible) but okay with that given the bug and the heat. Well done on your time - inspirational to me. I only know (knew) 1 female poet (Pam Ayres obvs) but before Claire loses it I don't know any male poets. P.S. Sorry for any grammar errors 🤣🤣🤣
Chris!! Looking at your pic I think I saw you! Next time we could shout "MARMY Army" at each other. Or "Pam Ayres" - whichever you are comfortable with. Well done on the time. It was boiling and its a hard course. Hills, hills, hills. Get well soon.
Only time I got injured during a race was when I tried a 'warmup' I had seen a bloke at a recent race running very fast backwards before setting off, of course I mocked but ate my own mockery when afore said bloke came in first and won a pair of trainers.. This made me reconsider so I pranced, skipped, marched and jogged.. Result.. I. T. Band pi ged out at 5 miles!! What a load of twattery.. No more warm ups for moi 🎉
Last year was “ St Crispin’s day” - Isabela Whitney doesn’t cut it for me ,Claire, although MARM could speak to a female runner occasionally for non sexist balance. Northampton - the thinking man’s Broadway - bring it on 🙈
Slagging off cyclists AND local running clubs. Hope Gemma and Eva were just as enthusiastic for every other runner otherwise you've nothing to complain about for Kenilworth cheering on their own friends (but still applauding you).
Absolutely quality, find myself waiting for these videos now
I love that quote.
Going to use it.
Legend Chris!!
Great running again!! I think you’ve convinced me to give this one a go next year.
You should! Thanks Andy. It’s a belter. Really is. But Hilly. Felt like more up than down - but that was probably in my head only.

Do it Dave!! It’s a great race!!
Glad you enjoyed it so much, you had a strong finish, well done
Lovely race. Run a fair few this year. Genuinely one of the best - this year and last. Thanks again.
Great video again 👏 👍
Cheers Stokie!! Thanks for the support!!
Although I would argue that Isabella Whitney does not fall into the requested brief of ‘contemporary’, she was clearly a cracking bird.
Can’t win with some people.

I'm thinking that it is time for Marm merchandise! Marm race tops...count me in!! Another suoerb run Tim. Huge congratulations
MARM merch. Can see the khaki “MARMY Army” t-shirts and running vests. Something tells me, Deano, that only me and you would be seen dead in them!

Been looking forward to this all day. Sad to admit but there it is. Love a bit of Marm 😂😂😂
Sad? Least sad thing in the world. You are one of the cool kids. Makes me very happy to hear! Hope it was worth the wait KV.
You've sold it to me, it looks great.
Do it Louise. It's a belter. Culture, feminism and running. Doesn't get any better.
That video turn around from filming to youtube is crazy 😂 top props to you 🔥 You looked strong when you passed me around mile 12. Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Raleys! Did we wave at each other?? Tried to stick a thumb up a few times…but turned out to be online predators. 😂

I am a totally oblivious most of the time. No doubt listening to Mike and the Mechanics. (Sort of joking)
Well done. 👍
Shame about my vest

Cheers for the kind words. Great running today.

You should do a collab with The Serious Runner, it would be beyond to hear you both crack jokes about running.
Just watched this guy!!!

Montage of dubious female icons is a triumph Timothy
All excellent people, first and foremost.
The fact that they are also people should not be paramount.
(Just remember Thatcher is in there. Anomaly)
Sad to hear about the squirrels, on a positive note though, more nuts for everyone else 🌰
Exactly.
If they are arrogant enough to feel that road safety doesn’t apply to them - they don’t deserve their share of autumn’s harvest.

No, I’m still utterly furious. Cheering friends indeed. Bloody cheek.
(You do know I’m only joking?)
(And in the video?)
Not sure you have to try so hard to be so unlikeable - just be yourself…
Will try Geoff. Thought I was quite nice in this one!
