Hello David: I’m so sorry you’re experiencing pain and discomfort. Yet you still sound hopeful and determined. You have an amazing attitude- keep that up! Two suggestions for you: 1) I hated using a cane during my own treatment - I was then only in my 20’s- so I completely understand your reluctance. I bought and used a pair of walking sticks instead - and they worked great. I still use them to this day. Think ski poles without the pointed tips and snow cups and with shock cord running down the middle to absorb shock. They kept me stable and walking. 2) If you ever need another world-class sarcoma specialist, you may wish to make an appointment with Dr. Joseph Buckwalter, MD. He’s not Chicago based, but in the neighborhood (sort of) at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. This was my sarcoma oncolologic surgeon/oncologist, and he’s truly world-renowned. Hope y’all make it up to Michigan. Thoughts and prayers.

HI David, Earlier today before I was listening to the song "15 for a moment."
What a beautiful song. It leads into your heart felt view about living each day,
I look forward to seeing your dreams of flying come to fruition soon.
My GI Doctor retired too spent nearly 30 years. He was great!
I also had to get a new primary care doctor . I wish you all the
    best and your family too.
