Thanks for going into detail on how to use this set up . I normally use just a stick with my bait on and wrap grass around it to make the animals work the set more would stake the traps on the deep side of the water ways. And the trap like you do of setting it.
For the folks that cant have exposed bait , fish wrapped in a cheesecloth sack works nicely ! I use to make mine up at home and carry them in a small bucket .
Hey, Dale, I love the fish stick set. Do you feel like you have a lot of otter work it from the water side or do you feel like with the wire on there They'll work it enough that they'll eventually step over the traps. I always put a trap on the bank side and one on the wate side if the depth of the water permits If that makes sense. Just curious your thoughts
I might miss one now and then Tyler from working the back side. But I feel the wire makes it tough for them to get it without crossing the traps. Thank you for watching buddy
Thanks for sharing this! For years i trapped by my dads house along the river catching foxes, i had lost 2 or three coyotes two years ago the ground is sandy never lost a fox but one coyote pulled up the rebar stake and trap. The other two hadn't been caught good i reckon and got out of the trap. Ill be sure to try this in the future.
I started using this set a few years ago. It's a killer for sure I thank we all "invented" this set as a kid. Like you said the stake made it was it is know. Fast and deadly!
That set looks ideal for mink and otter but I prefer to do drowners or body grip for otter I suppose it would be dead easy to turn that into a drowners set and all good even for beaver I am going to steal the paper plate idea for running pole sets to keep birds off- likely need waxed plates?
I do John. I'm a bit low on some sizes at the moment but I do have T shirts hoodies and hats. I'm currently out of banners though. If you're on Facebook shoot me a message and I can send you pictures of what I have along with sizes too
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 we are allowed to make a real pocket. Any little hole where I can stuff bait. Or in a cubby box. Or 4 feet off the ground now now that martin and fisher have become legal targets. Everything has to be dog proof.
THANK YOU very much for your generosity in sharing all this knowledge.

i need to make a few portable pockets . what would be the fish that you choose the most as bait ?
Dan my choices are in order. #1 gizzard shad #2 carp/buffalo #3 catfish heads.
Rough fish, preferably with high oil content.
Dollar store sardines are decent too
Ok. I've never used em Steve but I'm sure they work.

Ever stick duck or goose remains on them?
Never did Snapper but no reason you can't
