700 for 15-20 minutes ride is too much. Almost 5 times the normal cost. The guide was clearly taking of advantage of you being foreigner. Try to use Uber or Ola (Indian cab hailing service) for traveling. They will charge you reasonable price.
Hi! Thanks for the tips. This was an organised day tour so I was at the mercy of the city guide who was showing me around the city. That particular trip was quite short as only small vehicles can enter that part of Old Delhi. It was difficult negotiating whilst alone and with noone to assist me really. I used Uber one evening which really did seem to be the best way.
Hi! It was quite remarkable! No I didn't go inside but my guide said it wasn't worth it - just an open hall inside. Apparently the true beauty is on the outside. 🙂
I am sorry these tour guide scams are very common in India. That's why I would highly suggest when you visit India for the first time go to a 5 star hotel stay for 2 nights and get a city tour right from them. It's bit expensive but it's all inclusive. Marriott properties are extremely reliable in India so go with them.
Hi! I use a mix of cameras. I travelled solo this time so it was a bit of a challenge using them all but the long stick is part of the insta360 - yes it is really quite long!
Thank you for the kind comment but it's not your fault at all! - I totally agree about scammers being everywhere! I have met many lovely Indian people in my life but I thought I would have a few occasions in India where this might happen.
I didn't understand why these foreigners always visit stereotypical places of India like Delhi and Old Delhi, common guys there is more beautiful places of India beyond this like Ladakh, Pyongyang Lake, Shimla, and Kedarnath, Badrinath more beautiful places but they consider India only a Delhi 😂

Hi! Thank you (SO!!) much for these incredible tips. I would love to go back to visit some off-the-beaten-track places. My first mission in India was very stereotypical I'm afraid - to see the grandiose Taj Mahal!! This informed much of my first travel itinerary, much like many other first time visitors. Can't wait to see other places.
Hi! That's a great question - I only had one week to travel in India and had wanted to see the Taj Mahal (like most tourists!!) for many years so that is why I went to the Golden Triangle. Next time I will be able to explore more rural and remote.
Lol, there are Uber and Ola online taxi apps that show you a fair price upfront but i don't know why you insist on booking a random taxi and then complain he overcharged 😂😂

Hi, thanks so much for your message and the tips. To be honest, many of us want to visit the Taj Mahal which limits our destinations if we have only a short time. Now that I have gone there, I would love to see the parts of India that have been recommended to me by locals.
