Where I live, this plant is commonly found in nurseries alongside the doomed Dionaeas. They also have S. leucophylla seedlings. Unfortunately, they keep these plants alongside things like orchids and philodendrons, further convincing people that CPs are from rainforests and leading them to ultimately fail at growing these wonderful plants. The bright side is that I can get super cheap Sarracenias! They sell pots full of tons of little plants (probably to trick people into thinking it’s one plant with lots of pitchers) and you can buy pots of 10+ plants for $15!
I love how you speak so highly of your time here! I live in Alabama and went to an international high school.I wished I’d took advantage of my teachers more at that age and had fun with the carnivores. In the international baccalaureate we had the freedom to do as we pleased, so long as we learned. It would have been a blast looking back, my teachers were highly educated in plant biology and were from mid-south Alabama and grew up as farmers too.
My favorite sarracenia is one that occurred when I planted a bunch of mixed open pollination seeds. The plant doesn't produce pitchers. It is only a rhisome and it just chills out with all my other perfectly normal sarracenia.
@@thesciencelair9556 so I dont really know. It does still have its seed leaves but those are starting to go. Dispite only being 6 months old it has 2 "growth points" that produce little points like a pitcher is going to start but it never does. I just repotted it because I want to make sure it grows well. I might post a picture of it on Instagram if you want to see it. Its roots are the same as any other young sarracenia
Do these plants esp when small do they like being spritzed at all or on top. Also, im very new so never having one before i was wandering do these type plants have firmer type pitchers to the touch. Almost like crispy but not burned by amy mean. I have my bog under t5 lights as im in illinois and not a ton of natural sun yet
They prefer to be sitting in water to being misted but they would appreciate a little added humidity from misting if they’re already sitting in water. They generally don’t feel crispy but do have firm pitchers.

How does it get nutrients? How does it photosynthesize? With phyllodia? How did you discover it if it’s completely underground?
