It’s really impressive how much developers have done in stretching the Switch’s technical capabilities! And it’s always nice to see when a developer fails to initially optimize something for the Switch but then later patches it up. Maybe you guys can make one of these days a “2024 best Patched Up” vid….?
I mean in reality not many “next gen” games have blown us away . All the upgraded power has basically been used on Shadows and lighting, you’d likely see more if the cartridges had more storage
One of the coolest things about the Switch Era has been all these "impossible ports". It has been a fun ride seeing what games get ported to the Switch. I am looking forward to the next 3 Tomb Raider games next year 🎉
Switch Up, you guys are legit. Yous gifted me a copy of Kingdom Come, and I must say it's my game of the year. My kid was born about 6 weeks after yous gifted it, so yeah... haven't played it much the last 5 months! But I'll get back to it some day!
Loved the Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy, the camera was the biggest issue with modern controls but now that it’s been fixed it’s so much more enjoyable. Can’t wait for Tomb Raider IV to VI in February. Such a well priced release too!
The 'impossible' ports are impressive, but what I love is how many great games (indie, retro, AAA) make their way onto the console. It's got an incredible library!
12 videos in 12 days has got to be a ton of work! Can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time at such a busy part of the year to create this content. Year after year it's some of the best content on the channel. It really is one of the highlights of my holiday season every year. Your easy comraderie and humour in these videos is too hard not to enjoy. Oh ya... and it's helpful switch content to boot! Please keep em coming gents!
Finally someone who gives some well-earned praise to Perfect Dark. So many people mention GoldenEye as the best multiplayer shooters for the N64, but PD was all that, just better. The graphics, the characters, the animations, the lightning, the weapons (and their secondary functions), the... bots! Yes, an expansion pack was needed to get the full experience, but man, it was a blast! 😁👍🏼
I think remasters and ports make up at least 40% of my physical collection and I am waiting/saving for physicals of Lara Croft 1-3, Hitman Blood Money: Reprisal, Lara Croft 4-6, Yakuza: Kiwami, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1+2, Ace Combat, Croc and the list continues to grow. Hopefully with the Switch 2 being more powerful (rumoured) the backwards compatibility may help improve these games and more along with allowing for more ports and remasters in future with physical copies in abundance not limited online only purchases. Cheers SwitchUp, glad you're both feeling better now 🎉
Mastermind Host Clive Myrie: "And your specialist subject?" Contestant: "Ports" Clive: "Your time starts now. From which port did the Titanic depart in the year 1912?" Contestant: "Call of Duty on Wii U" Clive: "Incorrect."
The Switch having all these ports has allowed me to play games I never had a chance to play and replay other games much easier. There are still more ports I can’t wait to experience.
The Switch got some amazing things in 2024 but still missing key Wii U games like Legend of Zelda! We still need Windwaker and Twilight Princess on Switch!!
Not trying to be teachers pet, but you guys have made my favorite channel. And it IS because you go back and show games that improved, and what they look like. Thank you all so much for the laughs.
One of the things I appreciate about these 12 Days of SwitchUp videos and really all the reviews you guys post, is that I get to learn about cool games that were not on my radar. But one game that's been on my radar since it came out is Stray!
90s gamers were fed well this year. Paper Mario TTYD, Tomb Raider 1-3 and Soul Reaver (SR my most anticipated release of the year!), if you like Ocarina of time and Darksiders, you will love Soul Reaver! Great games, all of them. Thanks for the video guys, biggest shock for me was Yakuza Kiwami on the switch. Awesome game!
It is always impressive what some teams manage to squeeze out of the good ol switch. Btw Chernobylite looks sick! I also played Metamorphosis. A great weird adventure! Thank you Untold Tales for sponsoring the whole Series. Thank you Mark and Glen for YEARS of beeing my go to channel when ever I feel sad or.. actually whenever you guys release a Video 😀
I'm really enjoying the Switchmas" series of videos this year. The casual, mellow conversation combined with the game reviews is quite enjoyable. Mark and Glen, perhaps consider continuing to create videos like this after the Christmas season, perhaps as a monthly recap of your newest game reviews. Thanks!
Anyone still sleeping on Soul Reaver, just get it, the remaster is amazing, but on top of that it's a really great game regardless, some of the best voice acting in gaming ever, specially incredible for the time
When it comes to remasters and ports, I love Nightdive Studios... they are doing the Lord's work by bringing back older titles and modernizing them. Some noteworthy titles from this year include Killing Time: Resurrected and The Thing Remastered. Thanks to NIghtdive, I have a second chance to enjoy these titles that have flown under the radar when I was a kid.
I know Lollipop Chainsaw Re-POP was rough at launch, but Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered was pretty solid as far as straight ports go. Here's hoping we get Killer is Dead.
As someone who got back into gaming in my 30s, I love that they are porting so many games to switch (my only gaming console) so I can catch up on ones that I missed while I was busy at uni!
I can’t imagine how much work there has been to put these videos together! I didn’t know most of these titles, but watching them push the system has been great.
Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the videos you’ve put out over the years! Not only do I come here for all my Switch review and recommendation needs, I also just spend a lot of time home alone, and your chatting and bantering have been so nice for keeping me company. You are very much appreciated ❤
I'm really excited to see what the Switch 2 is capable of and any upscaling its capable of with remasters of classics and our switch libraries, hopefully in the not too distant future!
I'm glad new generations of gamers get to experience childhood favorites through quality ports, HD remakes, and remasters. I know it wasn't mentioned in the video and it doesn't come out until next year, but I was excited to hear Glover is getting another lease on life.
Ports are great, if they're the right price. The example is obviously Metroid Prime, the sheer quality put into it and the release price has no equal on Switch. Regarding Goldeneye VS Perfect Dark, I love golden eye for being the first shooter multi-player y played (and with the big head mode, hilarious) but i think perfect dark is the better game, and the medal system in the multi-player was great. Keep on the amazing work guys
I have actually never played a Yakuza however I ordered the physical edition so I’m excited. It’s amazing the difference in some ports on the switch. Really shows how good the people working on them are. Long live the switch. Also caught whatever you all had. But at least I have several videos to keep me company. Crack on!
Guys it's imPORTrant to appreciate the banta these guys have. am I being silly ( do they already have one) if not WE NEED A PODCAST! Just you two guys chatting. It's so natural and entertaining.
I usually don't comment much but I've been watching y'all for 4 years even before I finally got a Switch. I've watched some other channels for reviews & gameplay but I narrowed it down to one & this channel is it. 👍👍
After 8 years of the Switch's life, I still can't believe that it can run most of those high graphic ports. Just shows how powerful the Switch is. Definitely looking forward for the Switch 2 whenever that gets released.
While some periods of the Switch you get the impression that it's too many ports, it's managed to balance out quite nicely and given us such a massive library to choose from over the years
Just wanna say, love you guys' videos. You're my go to for game reviews and to just listen to your banter. You sound like you both have lots of fun with the videos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year guys!
Been a while seeing both of youns in the screen! I haven't been here as much as I like but seeing the occassional videos fills me with joy. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Mark and Glen, and to your families too!
I think it is so impressive that they are still managing to port stuff to the switch, this far into its lifetime. I always try to remember that when they sometimes launch in a less than ideal state.
"Raziel finds himself in a slightly sticky situation...basically been murdered" I dont know Mark, i think been murdered is above "slightly sticky" 😂😂. Yakuza is a franchise that i would love to get into, is certainly on my never ending backlog
Honestly, regardless of when it released, I'm still blown away by Witcher 3 on the Switch. I mean, the fact that it runs it AT ALL is surprising, let alone actually looking and running decent. Followed closely behind by No Man's Sky.
Follow-ups go a long long way on my purchase decisions and are very much appreciated. I have found i loved games that i had recently stopped playing to find out they are gems on the back end once patched. Revisits i credit to you guys for sure. To be honest, i dont buy a game if you have not reviewed it. There are just too many to play on a budget. It is not being a day job yet.. a great pastime and comfortable escape when needed, and you help bring the insightful fun to be had!
This is a great series guys, I will make sure I want every single episode, it’s also amazing that even in its 8th year, developers are still able to push the limits of the Switch hardware even though it’s beginning to struggle now.
Like most of your video's they don't just introduce me to Switch games but games on other consoles. This has made me look at the games on other platforms as well as they switch, so thank you for building up my back log....AGAIN!!!
One Piece Odyssey surprised me, being a slight fan of the anime and having played the warriors spin-off of the series, it was refreshing to play as the characters in an RPG! Definitely a lot better than Fairy Tail's RPG outgoing
Haven’t had a chance to play them yet but the Legacy of Kain remasters are the ones I was most excited for this year. Loved those games when I was younger and very excited to revisit in HD.
Luigi's Mansion 2 is just perfect to play with kids. Short bursts, and enough explanation to get going again after a long break not playing 😏 Hooray for E. Gadd
It’s crazy that Kingdom Come: Deliverance runs as well as it does on Switch. Great game. And redoing the review for the game is why this is the only gaming channel I watch religiously, even though I do the majority of my gaming on platforms other than Switch. Happy Holidays!
The amount of good games that have come out this year is honestly impressive. It just shows how good people have gotten with the different engines of the switch.
Just wanted to say only joined your channel this October when I got my switch but now your my go to channel for reviews and performance great work . Merry Christmas to switchUp .
I know we complain about the switch performance sometimes, and we do need the next console, BUT it is impressive what runs on it. Having The Witcher, No Man’s Sky etc and being able to take it with me is amazing
I love remasters. There are so many games i passed on back in the day that i get to enjoy now. As i have gotten older, my tastes in games have evolved. Good time to play those games of yore.
The Metamorphosis. A classic tale of a man who wakes up as a beetle and his biggest problem is getting to work on time. Classic! Anyway this video inspired me to start a fresh file of the Witcher 3, so thank you 😅
When a switch port is good at this point I am just impressed! With performance issues being so prevalent, we are ready for switch 2! Can't wait for the backlog to be boosted performance wise and get a whole bunch of new titles
Sabre are insane devs. They're setting the gold standards for Switch ports and PS5 Pro ports simultaneously. Highest end or lowest end this gen, they nail it.
Impressive ports for a console which you say is probably near end of life. Another round of honest reviews (as you mention during the vid). It's not always about the graphics but about how the game plays, feels and immerses you in the world. Great video guys.
I never thought a day would come when STALKER of all things was on the Switch, but here we are. Yakuza is a top 10 favorite franchise for me though. Those games can, and do, get absolutely mental.
Guys apologies! Was on a works Xmas night out! But the comment is here and just so you know I appreciate your content! It’s too late now however I shall watch tomorrow while I recover from these drinks that I thought were a good idea! Much love and stay safe!
What these guys to to either port or remaster games to switch is like wizardry. I just wish we could do more in the settings like other consoles but can't help it with how the this switch never changed in the almost 8 years life cycle. I hope the successor has more power to do that.
Been so hesitant to buy the Tomb Raider collection but your review and reassurance about the improved controls might give me the nudge I need - thanks guys
I have played and loved countless ports on the Switch, it's portable nature makes it the perfect second home for tons of games. Hard to remember what comes out in specific years compared to what you get round to playing from the backlog :-p. But Outward was a great port, amazing game, put a lot of time into it and loved every minute :-)

What is the one port you borh would love to see come to Switch or Switch 2?

Chernobylite doesn't have gyro aiming 😞 and I also don't get how to receive the 50% off, cause I own Metamorphosis...

DAY 7! Haha! "Oh I love ports I do!" and "positively adequate" Legends.
I never thought a day would come when STALKER of all things was on the Switch, but here we are.
Yakuza is a top 10 favorite franchise for me though. Those games can, and do, get absolutely mental.
Back again today! Great video guys. Merry Christmas.
Thank you for all the videos guys. Really good stuff!
It is truly a marvel what some developers can do to optimize older gems for the Switch
I actually had no idea Yakuza was on the switch, so I'm glad I've been watching your 12 days of switchup videos.
"Oh I love ports, oh I do" 😂🎉 Cheers guys.
Good lord I haven’t tired any of the ones in todays ports video….. wish listing every single one and gonna wait for good sales to try em
