হাওড়ার প্রাচীন জনপদ ‘রামরাজাতলা'র নামকরণ বর্ণময় রামপুজোকে কেন্দ্র করে। আনুমানিক ২৫০-৩০০ বছর আগে সাঁতরাগাছি অঞ্চলের জমিদার অযোধ্যারাম চৌধুরীর হাত ধরে এই অঞ্চলে রামরাজার পুজো শুরু হয়। ২৮ ফুট উচ্চতার অম্ল হরিৎ বর্ণের রামসীতা মূর্তির উপরে থাকে দেবী সরস্বতীর পাঁচটি মূর্তি। এছাড়াও শিব, ব্রহ্মা সহ প্রায় আরও ২৬টি দেবদেবীর মূর্তি থাকে। শোনা যায়, এই মন্দির দর্শন করতে এসেছিলেন স্বয়ং মা সারদা। প্রতিবছর বৈশাখ মাসের রামনবমী তিথিতে সাড়ম্বরে রামসীতার আনুষ্ঠানিক পুজো শুরু হয়। চার মাস ধরে পুজো দেন ভক্তরা। শ্রাবণ মাসের শেষ রবিবার হয় বিসর্জন। রাম পুজো উপলক্ষে মন্দির চত্বরে বিরাট মেলাও বসে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের দীর্ঘতম মেলা এটি। হাওড়ার ঐতিহ্যবাহী রামরাজা মন্দিরের ইতিহাস ও পুজো সম্পর্কে জানতে অবশ্যই দেখুন ভিডিয়োটি...
The historic township of 'Ramrajatala' in Howrah derives its name from the vibrant Rampujo festivities. Roughly 250-300 years ago, Ram Raja Puja was initiated in this area under the patronage of Ayodhyaram Chowdhury, the zamindar of the Santragachi region. Dominating the landscape is a towering 28-foot-tall idol of Ramsita, adorned with five figures of Goddess Saraswati. Additionally, the temple houses statues of around 26 other deities, including Shiva and Brahma. Legend has it that even Mother Sarada graced this sacred site with her presence. Annually, on the auspicious Ramnavami of the month of Boishakh, the ceremonial worship of Ramsita commences, spanning four months of devout observance until the abandonment rituals on the final Sunday of Shravana. The Ram Puja celebration also hosts a grand fair within the temple grounds, marking the longest fair in West Bengal.
