The wonderful Lindsen organ, a state monument in Beek in the vincinity of Nijmegen (NL) was built in 1831, an era in which many artists visited this village for its idyllic and picturesque atmosphere. Some stayed there for several years, for example important ones like Barend Cornelis Koekkoek and Josephus August Knip did.
An anthology of the works inspired by poetic Beek may be enjoyed in this video.
The images are arranged in the film in an order that represents an almost seamless walk through Beek and its surroundings, starting and ending at the entrance of the village of that time, near "logement Westerbeek" (Westerbeek inn).
The music is from the same era, but from a different region: Northern Italy (Venice, Bergamo and Pistoia).
Its lightheartedness fits very well to the optimistic images of the rising bourgeois class period.
