You hit the nail on the head. Before Money Game Pt. 3, Ren was never able to spend more than 1,000 pounds on any of his videos. Most, he's said, cost closer to 100 pounds and some, like CRUTCH and POWER, had a budget of zero.
Glad you mentioned what he's accomplishing as an independent. To me, that can't be understated. There's no teams, budgets, etc. What he can get done with very limited resources is unbelievably impressive

Ren's releasing new songs again on Thursdays. Two, so far. They are mashups of other people's songs. You heard a little, but you really haven't heard him sing for real, yet. His voice is amazing and maturing so well. These new releases are just pure gold. One is Fred Again Mashup, and the other is Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Mashup. You really should check them out. Both are live one takes, as well.
Sick Boi is the song that got me into Ren.
Like him, I suffered from Lyme disease. According to one of his interviews, I think we were diagnosed by the same doctor in Brussels. This doctor changed my life like his, because for more than ten years, no one knew what I had as the symptoms were in all directions, physical, neurological and mental. Like him, I developed addictions to ward off pain or to numb my parasitic thoughts...and I also developed a certain phobia of hospitals and psychologists. In short, Lyme disease ruined my youth.
After a very long treatment (which generated other health problems and after-effects) I am better...
So I thank Ren for talking about this little-known disease.
I’ve watched many Ren reaction videos and you’re the first to mention the lady in the video. Thank you for appreciating her input into this great song.
For folks who might not know, the voice in the song was Glenn's (the Big Push drummer) girlfriend (maybe now fiancee/wife?) and the woman in the video is an actress friend who is also in a few other things like Why My Woman? and the Screech hospital short. I'll try to find her name--Ren posted it somewhere in a behind-the-scenes clip for this video. She's fabulous, and I admire her utter composure while being yelled at. 💜

Yes, Ren has said that doing these videos independently with almost no budget (with the exception of MG3) forces him to be more creative. And luckily he has an incredible circle of talented friends that help make his vision into a reality. Samuel Perry-Falvey and Ren are a dynamic duo!
Ren is a natural storyteller and is able to use so many different approaches and styles. That’s what I think makes him most unique. As soon as you try to put him in a box he comes out with something completely different!
His two most recent releases are mashups/retakes of other artists’ songs, but he makes them completely his own. I think you would really enjoy the Fred again mashup, 5 different EDM songs done on an acoustic guitar with a truckload of emotion. Or his most recent, Road to 74/Message In A Bottle retake is a completely different style and vibe.
Thd doctor not only does a fantastic job witj delivering the lines but also the way she does it and the perfect condescending voice and facial expresssions. She was great in this video.
Could you do either or both of his new retakes? The singing is back and it’s so good :)

Your insight is fascinating. I hadn’t thought about the lady (medical industry) talking to the beat and that it’s not rap. All I know is everything Ren has done, it’s entertaining, captivating, easy to follow, relatable, and, you’re right, emotion evoking. And no two songs are alike. Always something new and fresh. Ren’s taken music and art to a new level. I’m constantly blown away.

This is a hard core song about mental health issues, addictions and severe trauma like PTSD that are swept under the table by so many societies, families and governments. A lot of difficult to deal with situations that are taken advantages by big pharmaceutical companies.
Add to that "Chalk Outlines" for a set of 3 mental health songs (with Hi Ren)

@@MikeR_NZ I already know of Chinchilla and have seen their duet several times. Love it. You have no idea how often I eagerly I jump off cliffs in complete faith I will be safe. Same for rabbit holes. lol PS: There is several kinds of mental health diseases in my family and far too much multi generational trauma. I just celebrated my 38th year of recovery from addiction.
Great reaction dude, and yeah as an independent with virtually no budget for most of his songs/videos (apart from money game 3 which had budget due to the success of Hi Ren) he had to be super creative to come up with something unique to grab peoples attention, and wow he certainly does that!!

That’s a great point I myself have said that I really liked her cadence in the song, but I didn’t really think about it in terms of if her flow was a little faster like his or came across a little bit like rap would it lose the “doctor“ patient chemistry? Probably would. That’s a great point! I hope you do Crutch! Amazes me I’m a small budget that he had that many years ago. How did that video and song are one of the things about him that impresses me the most and I know that you haven’t watched too many of his videos probably about a dozen? Or maybe you’ve watched more and just have it reacted to a lot of them but the one thing that you’ll notice is it’s very hard to tell what time that particular song and video were made.. like most people have a career arc that’s pretty obvious where you see their growth however, with him, he already looks kind of young for his age so unless you can tell that it’s from when he was very frail and sick and then compared to his build now you would be pressed to the music that’s old and this is his newer stuff. His singing voice has improved I’ve noticed but aside from that, his writing, directing, acting, flow, cadence, double and triple entendres and metaphors and homophones, as well as his storytelling and acting, they’ve always been on point to me! You need to watch blind eye with him and Sam pumpkins if you haven’t seen it, he accredits that song basically has the song that started his career in music! And i know Hi Ren is this song that really made his career blow up and takeoff but he needed the confidence and energy and everything else
