Clover OS first of all about noobs-friendly distro, and after all it's about minimalism (so GUI-applications in priority), minimalism is not even its main feature, because as we see there are several options for choosing different environments and fvwm is just an option among others. It's for fast and easy installing of Gentoo-based system, there is almost everything that noobs need
And i'm as a noob (if i need Gentoo-based system) understood more about how to install Clover OS than from Gentoo Handbook, where i'm completely lost in options, pile of options, which i even don't know which one of them i need on my system, because Gentoo Handbook was written without considering the fact that people from outside of highly-intellect-*nix-geek community might come, for example like me, several years i used Ubuntu and don't even knew about chroots or something like that, it's like a kind of black magic for me.
Even now when i'm going to install Gentoo or something like that, i don't know what packages i need for the network for example, what configuration options should i choose for my system, because if you are noob, you don’t even know the basic things of GNU/Linux systems, you don’t know what the network stack should consist of, or what needs to be configured to protect you from feeling "naked", how to use basic system-features to protect your ass when you using internet.
You can choose only if you know what you need to choose for each component of your system and for this you must know what a complete GNU/Linux system should consist of, and for this you must be at least a very coola-*nix-advanced user.
You already need to know all of these stuff and more, when you going to install Gentoo.
But when you install Mint, Ubuntu or even Debian, you just installing the system, relying on developers' choice and decisions, and believe that they did everything right with those scary-geek-black-magic things.
On other side ArchWiki is more noobs-friendly than Gentoo Handbook, at least there is something like kinda being led by "wise advice" step by step.
By the way, i came to your channel precisely because of "Best Gentoo Linux Installation Guide 2019" video guide and found out that channel has many useful videos and if you make a video review about funtoo with installation, it will be great!
P.S.: Sorry for my english, i'm not english speaker.
And if you're curious about, i'm a regular Debian noob-user who switched from xubuntu.

don‘t feel bad about using what works for u and what u understand. gentoo is not a new user friendly distro. it is for advanced users who want to customize every aspect of their system, want to grind out every single gflop of performance and are tryhards in a positive way with some time to spare. compare them to the advanced overclockers in the hardware world. every ounce of performance needs to be squeezed from the system.

Imho Gentoo can be made to be very beginner friendly distro where user doen't really need to know anything about Gentoo and use it just like Debian. It could not be done 3 years ago without adding binary package support - this is already supported by Gentoo and my understanding is one could use Gentoo like that without touching /etc/portage and in this case just adding easy installer and maybe adjusting some install scripts to automate some things... or rather adding meta packages which not only install stuff but also configure it on the system. Such distro if done right could be amazing for full range of users from newbies down to hardcores... these last ones being your ordinary Gentoo users.

      The Bad:
1- It still is a cluttered mess. Ten menus, each with a list of items in the double digits, and with a ton of submenus. If you like mplayer/mpv, you are going to get lost. If you come from something like VLC (poor soul), you are going to get lost. If you are a Limited User (luser for short), you are going to freak out. The shortcuts indeed work, so that helps... As long as you used mplayer/mpv before.
2- It has by default a chunky bar for quick options, to mitigate point 1, plus the reproduction bar. They don't fade out when the video start. The three bars use about a fifth of my 1080p screen space. The whole point of a GUI is to make the thing more intuitive, why it's forcing me to use an extra step to go full screen?
3- For some reason it ignores my default QT 4 and 5, GTK 2 and 3, and FLTK configurations. Because the damn thing gets to decide how to look. It has other options as skins, but it only uses my default configuration with the GTK 2 skin. Worse, the default skin is unfathomable ugly, a mess of nineteen-ninety GUI design with ninety-eighty color schemes, and with thicc icons to use even more screen space.
      ---
      The Dubious:
1- For some reason, it uses 82 mb idling without anything loaded. For comparison, Parole, the default XFCE media player, uses 54. I personally don't give any F, and the minimalist among you would be using mplayer/mpv anyway, but is good to know. To be fair, Smplayer does far more than Parole. To be even more fair, if the only thing that I want is to play a video, I don't see any advantage to using Smplayer over mplayer/mpv or even Parole. By the way, since Smplayer is a front-end, you are going to have mplayer or mpv installed.
2- It uses QT 5. If you have QT programs already installed, or are using Plasma / LXQT, that is not a problem, but otherwise, welcome to extra QT libraries. Again, I don't give an F, I'm using XFCE with a lot of QT programs happily installed, but is good to know.
3- It really is heavily oriented to mplayer/mpv user. Which means if you already use them, then you might not really see the point of Smplayer, and if you don't use mplayer / mpv, then you are going to need to learn a fair bit to use it to it's full potential. It helps with some things, like playlists (you can have playlist in mplayer/mpv, but you need to edit them manually), and clutters a lot of other things (like reproduction parameters), so in the end if you benefit from Smplayer will greatly depend on your use case. It definitively fails at being a more "amiable" version of mplayer/mpv.
      ---
      The Good:
1- It is fairly complete, it gives options for streaming, connecting to heretics things like Chromecast, and if you have youtube-dl installed, it can be used to play videos from streaming sites with the URL and/or download them. That integration is really nice, and I think that I'm going to experiment with it a bit more.

I've used many distro's over the years (yeah since 1995 - Started with Redhat) and have to say EndeavourOS is amazing. It's now my daily distro. I used Gentoo for many years and was also one of the devs for the Lila Icon/theme pack back in the day. I just got tired of compiling everything regularly so moved on and Eventually only a few months ago actually found EndeavourOS and love it.... This was the theme I was involved with. All done in Inkscape a very long time ago. I also created a Lila xmms theme to match... www.gnome-look.org/p/1125736/

You know I think the whole vim vs emacs arguments is kind of stupid. When I log into my Xenix system with my 110 baud teletype, both vi
*and* Emacs are just too damn slow. They print useless messages like,
'C-h for help' and '"foo" File is read only'. So I use the editor
that doesn't waste my VALUABLE time.
    Ed, man! !man ed
    ED(1) UNIX Programmer's Manual ED(1)
    NAME
    ed - text editor
    SYNOPSIS
    ed [ - ] [ -x ] [ name ]
    DESCRIPTION
Ed is the standard text editor.
    ---
Computer Scientists love ed, not just because it comes first
alphabetically, but because it's the standard. Everyone else loves ed
    because it's ED!
"Ed is the standard text editor."
And ed doesn't waste space on my Timex Sinclair. Just look:
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root 24 Oct 29 1929 /bin/ed
    -rwxr-xr-t 4 root 1310720 Jan 1 1970 /usr/ucb/vi
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root 5.89824e37 Oct 22 1990 /usr/bin/emacs
Of course, on the system *I* administrate, vi is symlinked to ed.
Emacs has been replaced by a shell script which 1) Generates a syslog
    message at level LOG_EMERG; 2) reduces the user's disk quota by 100K;
    and 3) RUNS ED!!!!!!
"Ed is the standard text editor."
Let's look at a typical novice's session with the mighty ed:
    golem> ed
    ?
    help
    ?
    ?
    ?
    quit
    ?
    exit
    ?
    bye
    ?
    hello?
    ?
    eat flaming death
    ?
    ^C
    ?
    ^C
    ?
    ^D
    ?
    ---
Note the consistent user interface and error reportage. Ed is
generous enough to flag errors, yet prudent enough not to overwhelm
    the novice with verbosity.
"Ed is the standard text editor."
Ed, the greatest WYGIWYG editor of all.
ED IS THE TRUE PATH TO NIRVANA! ED HAS BEEN THE CHOICE OF EDUCATED
AND IGNORANT ALIKE FOR CENTURIES! ED WILL NOT CORRUPT YOUR PRECIOUS
BODILY FLUIDS!! ED IS THE STANDARD TEXT EDITOR! ED MAKES THE SUN
SHINE AND THE BIRDS SING AND THE GRASS GREEN!!
When I use an editor, I don't want eight extra KILOBYTES of worthless
help screens and cursor positioning code! I just want an EDitor!!
Not a "viitor". Not a "emacsitor". Those aren't even WORDS!!!! ED!
    ED! ED IS THE STANDARD!!!
    TEXT EDITOR.
When IBM, in its ever-present omnipotence, needed to base their
"edlin" on a UNIX standard, did they mimic vi? No. Emacs? Surely
you jest. They chose the most karmic editor of all. The standard.
Ed is for those who can *remember* what they are working on. If you
are an idiot, you should use Emacs. If you are an Emacs, you should
not be vi. If you use ED, you are on THE PATH TO REDEMPTION. THE
SO-CALLED "VISUAL" EDITORS HAVE BEEN PLACED HERE BY ED TO TEMPT THE
FAITHLESS. DO NOT GIVE IN!!! THE MIGHTY ED HAS SPOKEN!!!

SpaceFM is a fork of PCManFM with a plugin feature. You're a bit of a whiner I'd say. Complaining about gui tools installed in a gui. When in the terminal I use cli and tui tools. When in the gui I use gui tools. Makes perfect sense. As far as Emacs goes, I'm a Vim user too but that doesn't mean Emacs sucks. It's just not what I'd prefer. I use Smplayer on an older machine that struggles in the browser to play youtube vids. it can play them streaming with acceleration. And complaining about a gui volume is silly. Don't install a gui if you don't want gui tools. Especially a traditional WM. Fvwm is not a tiling WM.

Our company has standardized on CloverOS as an upstream base for our internal distro. There is nothing faster.
    That said,
    * What kind of pansy doesn't install CloverOS on bare metal?
    * Porthole is only shortcutted for newbies. it's emerged upon first use, like most of the other shortcuts on the desktop.
    * Password is echoed on purpose during install. You're just wrong/triggered.
    * output was echoed on purpose for full disclosure to the paranoid. You're just wrong/triggered.
    * Default is NOT "how the developer intended" you to experience CloverOS. You're just wrong.
    * The fact that you _only_ reviewed the default desktop made this a useless review.
    * Literally everything after the 10-minute mark is pointless.
    * You failed to understand the point of a uber-simple gentoo install in less than 15 minutes. It seems gentoo-based distros are not for you.
    * It's seriously funny that you nosedived your review because you were triggered about a visible password prompt. That little "eye" on the KDE password field that reveals your password must make you lose sleep at night.
