This didn't import into PS correctly for me (using all of the latest versions) it played as a correct .mov from Preview but imported as just a shape. Also in After Effects I didn't have the rgb + alpha selection clickable until after I chose the 4444 option...
Thanks - this helped with my job. Selecting Apple 4444 as the encoder is what my problem was. Thanks for clarifying that. Why can't Adobe just get with the times and make software that isn't so bloated that you can't create frequently requested assets? Adobe needs to rethink their products and how they work. They're not practical any more and the process for creating basic assets like a transparent gif feels like it's hacking together multiple solutions (multiple apps, legacy settings, selecting encoders, wtf?!), rather than having a basic export option built right into AE.
Really useful, by following through your video. I was able to crate custom looping animation for my Google slides presentation. It does really boost the visuals. Thank you so much!
But like, your thing already had a transparent background to begin with... I can't figure out why AE won't let me have a comp with no bkgrd color... it's always white. When I toggle it to 'off', it still makes everything have a white background when exported. I even tried importing a transparent .png to start with... still exports white background... what am I doing wrong? :(
If you have a MacPro and when you go to photoshop it doesn't let you import the video file, go to creative cloud in the icon of photoshop click on the 3 dots and select "open intel version"
@@KhanhNguyen-bm5jp When u click on the dots it will show "other versions" just click on that and it will show u all available Photoshop versions. Intel based versions are all versions from 22.2 and older so just install one of those.
ok so i am exporting a AE transparent video and then going into ps to make a gif... i have a new machine now etc and now all my gifs have that grainy dither and i am like what am i doing wrong??? can you please help? cheers
Hey, i hit the same problem - If you look under OPs "format option" he starts on ANIMATION. I had Apple Pro-Res, and didnt get the option for alpha + RGB. Changed it and got the option. Then changed it to Apple Pro Res 4444 as the video says in the next step.
Getting dynamic link error on Photoshop. I'm out of options and so frustrated. I don't understand how AE doesn't have a transparent GIF export when it costs 50 dollars a month.
Hi Eduard, It looks like a great video! My dear friend has recently started a job where he has to perform all of these creative tasks. I have been trying to find videos like this to share with him and help him settle easily. It was a great watch, I learned the process perfectly, and I hope it helps him too. Really looking forward to checking out more amazing videos like this in the future. I hope you keep sharing regularly.
I have no idea why I'm having this issue but I hope you'll be able to help! In AE the file looks and works fine, but once rendered and imported into PS the file it completely blank. There are only 2 colours (1 technically) which is black and transparent. I've used this AE file before to export gifs with no issues so I'm unsure why this is happening. All I'm doing is changing the wavy word gif from orange to black!
You can send me the .mov file in ProRes 4444 and I'll have a look at it. I can't give you my email publicly here, but you can find it on the About page of this channel. It's our support email, just ask to reach Eduard and I'll check it
hello, Thanks for the tutorial. I learned several things I didn't know and I'm definitely gonna try out. Unfortunately I have the following problem that I was hoping to solve with this one and couldn't. I want to create a HQ gif for a mobile app and photoshop won't do it (Unknown error or not enough memory). For this reason I was hoping to bypass photoshop. The GIF I want to create is 1676 * 3727px and lasts 6, 7 seconds with 25 fps. Any ideas about how to solve this would be highly appreciated!
Go to VideoPlasty.com and reach the Help Center (footer), open a ticket and say you're from RUclips looking for Eduard. Send a link to the video (in the exact dimension) and I'll have a look at it for you and try to convert it. Maybe for an app purpose it can be some other format too with better compression, GIF is ancient.
Try to use the matte option to optimise for any background that you use it against. Unfortunately, the GIF format is quite limited, it's latest update was in 1989 (check Wikipedia if you don't believe me)
I guess that's the limit then. At 25 frames per second that's a solid 20s animation. For GIFs anything longer than that the filesize will likely be HUGE
Thank you so much. I was turning crazy trying to find tutorial on that precize point. You helped me so much
Glad it helped!
thankyou, been figuring out for a while how to export the gif into transparent background

This is an amazing tutorial. Thank you very much for your help. (Adobe needs to make exporting out of After Effects a built in thing, jeez.)
I know, right? Thank you!
Media Encoder 2022 finally features export as "animated GIF" with the option "Animated GIF with transparency".
WHERE??
@@angelbaby3342 Hey, just checked. You have to update Media Encoder.
Thank you so much! As soon as I saw your comment I ran to update it😂

There’s also no site that mentions that media encoder has this option
