Very powerful song both lyrically and musically. I'd say the back-up vocalists are an essential part of this song, as their haunting harmonies really set the dark, cruel mood of heartache. Truly an underrated gem from a very solid and complete comeback album (Steel Wheels).
there's supposed to be a bootleg recording out there of the demo of this song with Keith singing it. It was originally a Keith song, he came up with the basic tune around the time he did Talk is Cheap, and he and Jagger reworked the lyrics slightly when they "reconciled" at Montserrat.
totally forgot about this song- kind of a departure from the normal stones tunes, but I like it- a lot. Mick sounds great on this, and the backup singers are amazing as well. Everything comes together on this one- that's for sure
