MANO - CHITRA combo magic happened because of Ilayaraja, just like he immortalized SPB - SJ combo. For Sindhu Bairavi, when Chitra was prioritizing her PG exams instead of the recording, IR asked her to sing for the album. Her father persuaded her, and she won her first National Award for 2 songs; the rest was history. Frankly, she sang BETTER songs for IR (Poove poochudavaa, Yedhedho ennam, Devanin kovil, Kaatrodu kuzhalin and several more) which were not awarded, than her latter songs which won her National awards (Ooh lalala, Ovvoru pookkaLume). Another song for which she deserved an award for, was Thathiththom in Azhagan, under Keeravani's music.
