🍿 Cannibal Holocaust is NIGHTMARE FUEL
🎬 Huw finally heads into the Green Inferno to tackle one of the most controversial horror movies ever made. A film that shocked in both the fictional world and the real world, Cannibal Holocaust continues to leave a lasting impression on audiences. However, what did director Ruggero Deodato do to achieve that status? It's not gonna be pretty...

In Germany this movie is called "Nackt und zerfleischt" which translates into "naked and lacerated". Never the less I think this movie deserves to be banned, but not to be destroyed. Simply to aware the watcher, that such a production should never happen again. Pretty similar to the book "Mein Kampf". Since we can't fully destroy history we all should learn of it

@@KyleShiflet13666 What is wrong with having sex with animals? In many tribes in our history children were taught about sex by having it with animals first before humans, that was a tradition in cultures that were far more attuned to our innate nature. People who are out of touch with pain and darkness of life are the most psychologically fragmented, because they impose their morality onto others by playing Gods, this is why there are still people out there who think adults having sex with children is sick, when in actual reality it is the way how biological people are wired, and this has been documented to happen in animals as well. Social norms have disconected humans from their own nature, and that is what this film has tried to demonstrate, because nature and truth is multiplicity, norms are a homogenizing equalizing system to force humans into a machine-like state of slavery.

I'm all for splatter horror but I have a strong stance that nothing should ever have to suffer for art. MOST OF ALL, animals and other helpless creatures who didn't sign on for the project.
Would definitely consider Roth's Green Inferno the far superior film to this, if the theme of cannibal natives is what you're looking for. I agree with the strong points, and the theme of 'who are the real monsters'. But just like you said, a lot of the ethical choices made to make the story come to life, I simply object to.
It's a good concept for a movie but the exploitative production ruins it. The ability to simulate the violence and gore is what makes the art 'art'. Just ask Damian Leone how many people he had to murder to make Terrifier happen. Zero. Doing if for real is the cop out.

I've never seen the movie and this is my first time hearing about it but it literally just sounds like torture p/rn, especially targeted against women in the most atrocious ways imaginable. At some point you have to wonder if there's any artistic/thought provoking purpose in what a movie like this is showing us, or if it's just a director getting off on this type of sh/t. The latter of which being extremely important to think about when it comes to how actors are treated behind the scenes. And animal cruelty like this is the most basic textbook symptom of a psychopath. Even things done for shock value have a limit.

Except this movie doesn’t dramatize it’s sexualizing, like practically every slasher from the mid 70s on, but rather reinforces the barbaric nature of these seemingly civilized westerners around this tribe. Not saying it doesn’t do injustices to the women actors, but Hollywood has glorified violence against women for decades now.

I make films that people call "horror" because I want to make films about real things that happen in the world, and most real things aren't very nice." - Ruggero Deodato
I used to be hated for saying this is the most necessary film ever made, lol. The title is so symbolical - humans cannibalizing themselves, the nature within themselves.
99% of all the chickens and pigs that have ever lived on this planet were born for the sole purpose of being killed the moment they reach maturity. When people get upset over an animal being killed on screen it just illustrates the cognitive dissonance that goes on in every omnivores mind. Yes they were killed for the sole purpose of being eaten, they just happened to point the camera at this. Families used to film in their farms killing of pigs on camera too. This is much deeper what is going on with regards to the reaction by people to this film. It points the finger at the wound existing within the fragmented psyche of humanity.
This music theme of this film is so etheric because for me it has signaled the return back to our nature that has unified light and dark. It is by facing the darkness and savagery of ourselves and others that we can transmute and nautralize it into nothingness/the source of creation. Notice how many people have an issue with animals being killed. This film triggers this reaction to reveal how modern man has become disconnected from nature that they are willing to eat the animals but not them being killed for food, it is exactly the message this movie is conveying. People think Deodato the film director wanted to show how civilized people are more savage than cannibals, but his point was to show how disconnected the modern societies are from the savage nature, death and pain of life in general. This is why most people want to look away and not see the atrocities happening during war. There is a deep disconnect, and we can see it with regards to what happens to Palestinians for instance, two different worlds and yet the same planet, it is reflective of the huge gap in the power dynamics between rich and poor, between privileged and not privileged, etc. There is this line in this trailer that says it all which goes "Don't turn away, look at it, these are men, men like you!" That is what this movie is about, to face the darkness so we could transmute it and bring harmonious balance to this world. This music is thematic enough to portray a hidden paradise that was once lost and yet to be discovered, by demonstrating the TRUTH that only through pain and darkness we can return back to this garden of eden, because it is through the unifying of light and dark when we ascend in spirit.

I saw Cannibal Holocaust on 42nd St in 1988 on a triple bill with Big Top Peewee and Mad Monkey Kung Fu. I was utterly blown away by it. It hit me to my core. It's not a movie for fun. It is meant to be extreme and to make you uncomfortable. Yes, it reveals what horrible people this film's crew were, and that they were monsters. I was disgusted by the animal cruelty but that was pushing extremes to the limit so that when it happened to the crew it showed their punishment for those acts. On that level the film IS moral. I thought it was an amazing experience. (Not even mentioning the nudity and sexuality which no one ever talks about. It's not porn but it is very X Rated.) In contrast, I was deeply bored by Blair Witch.

Cannibal Holocaust is an exploitation film that tries to be artistic. Cannibal Ferox accepts that it is an exploitation film. So Deodato is proud of the artistic merit of his movie. It has made him lots of cash. He would be the first to say this was based on his talent. However, once a film is exploitative it looses artistic merit. If you take time to write a script but the just pee in a bucket. Well any power to the script is devalued as you are saying the art can not stand up on it's own merit and needs exploration to justify it. Cannibal Ferox does just this and takes the exploitation of cannibal holcaust and states " my film is rubbish, but so is yours.but people will pay to watch it just because of the animal killing." it is like you could film two hours of a brick wall. shoot a cat and people will say the cat was eaten by the cast so it is justified.
