Every Army of WW2 executed deserters. The Soviets executed tens of thousands of them. Desertion in time of war is the worst sin you can commit because it imperils your brother soldiers.
Guderian received much credit for his armoured tactics but Manteuffel wrote the book. If Germany had quit mucking about with dozens of different tank designs and just built the Tiger 1 and 2 in great numbers, the war could have been much different. However by 1944, without air superiority to protect the armored divisions, Germany was doomed.
Maybe Panthers but not Tigers. He understood the importance of good logistics and how to support an Army. Both the Tiger 1 & 2 were a logistical nightmare to transport or supply.
In April 1945,faced with an impossible position,Von Manteuffel ordered his division to retreat. He was confronted by Kietel who furiously attacked him. Hasso responded,’…the Manteuffels have worked for Prussia for 200 years. I,Hasso Von Manteuffel take responsibility for this order…’ Kietel stormed off.
You may be slightly wrong with this one. It was the overall commander Gotthard Heinrici that Keitel went crazy on and whom Keitel relieved of command. When Keitel ordered Von Manteuffel to assume temporary command, Manteuffel protested the firing of Heinrici. The fact was that Heinrici refused to use the remains of Army Group Vistula to defend Berlin. He knew his troops would just die there needlessly so he had circled them around Berlin and that was where Keitel found them. Von Manteuffel was of the exact same opinion as Heinrici at the time. His opinion was also that the war was over and the focus should be on saving as many lives as possible.
More like Red army pushed his division to retreat, and they could just bypass what splintered remains of his armies, so it wouldn't really matter if Manteuffel retreated or not

The answer is no. Boss manufactured the uniforms, but the designs were given to them by the military. There are videos elsewhere on RUclips regarding the role the company played in uniform production.

Hasso-Eccard, Freiherr (Baron) von Manteuffel was an Olympics-level pentathlete and competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Well-observed. One comment: it was Keitel, not Kietel.
