I agree! I still don't understand the reasoning behind it. Soil? Lay of the land? I'm so confused as to why it couldn't just be a tank and a leach field. The electric was also super complicated. Maybe it's a Tennessee thing. I dunno.
If I could go back to 1914 and have a conversation with my great-grandparents: "Why did you build the house there? Because that's where the old one was!"... It probably would've went better than the one about the toilet in the house... Great-Grandma REFUSED to let them put one in(even tho it was in the plans!) ... we finally got one when I was 3!!! Congratulations on the new septic!
if you have any large rocks/boulders around your property, use them to set up a rock garden around the pole. That would also have the effect of making sure you never drive over the tanks.
Not enough can be said for country living. The peaceful quiet, the stars not washed-out by city lights, your open view of beautiful sunsets - i am truly jealous! I hope this is not the last we see of you - Sam and Angela. I have really enjoyed your company (videos) and I can't wait to enjoy more. So what is to be next? A breather first!!
We're not going anywhere. :) Still gotta give everyone the final house tour, then we'll see what's next. Probably some smaller projects, then a big fence project (whole property), and who knows what else!
Good decision to keep your home where it is! So many negatives being next to the road. Fumes, noise, ogelers, chance of someone driving into your home, etc. You made a healthier choice. 😄👍
Cool snake! Your son is so cute. I love when the kids are in your videos. They both are growing so fast, your oldest has gotten a lot taller over the past couple of months or so. PS - y’all are two of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen, your place is looking awesome. PPS - your bloopers are awesome, I was laughing so hard at y’all calling back at the birds 😂😂
In the San Antonio, TX area, you mostly see aerobic systems. The aerobic part comes from a compressor that runs continuously to add oxygen to the solid side and break down the waste. The liquid runs into the 2nd half of the tank where it is pumped out via 3 sprinklers.
I live in Eastern KY and also moved a mobile home onto our property after a house fire because it was cheaper than rebuilding and quicker so not as much time off work to get reestablished,, plus today mobile homes really are built pretty well as any other home, just in a way that they can be moved to a site.. Our septic is very similar.. no pump system, but a large tank, with a smaller dispersal box leading off to (3) 180ft lengths of leaching chambers.. AND before we could even start on it, had to have a state inspector come out, do a site survey and tell us what kind , how big and how much leaching bed we had to have, and to do tht, he not only considered the land and how it was laid out, but he even drilled a hole in the ground, poured a gallon of water into it and then timed how fast it took to sink into the ground, and that was how he decided on leaching bed size and such.. It's a very complicated business now a days, and the power company wont come near you until it's in and has a sticker on it saying it passed inspection and was done all properly and according to the states regs..
We had two in Florida. It was because the house we bought was to close to a creek for the drain field. So everything went into the first one and got pumped to the second one 150 ft up the slope and then out to the drain field half of which was in our neighbors yard. But it was ok with them. It watered the trees between us.
Educational episode on the alternative to the traditional septic system, learned a lot. On your 4 x 4 hand buzzer septic post, to protect and prevent weather damage to the top of your post, what if you use one of your deck post caps as protection; just a thought. "Thanks" for sharing!
I've had a hydraulic hose pop once, long drive to the deer dealer to get a new one. After waiting 3 years for our house we are finally getting the septic installed this week.
My daughter lives in a old farm house, and her septic tank is right next to the foundation. First time I ever saw one. Bless you guys, and your really patient
I very quiet video. And I watched it all. Different than my arobic system here in Central Ok. But I have a 2 sprinklers off if it instead of leach lines. Enjoyed this video too. See you all on the next one.
Hey guys,,, I really like your channel... Funny enough,,,, this is the standard sceptic tank system in Johannesburg,, Australia and the UK.... I'm soooooooo suprised that you have these options in your state.... Because in California,,,, they have a standard system,,,, also 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can’t believe you couldn’t put a traditional system out there. We had one of these type of systems in WA state, but ours had to run up a hill to a leach bed so it made sense because of the location of the house. I may be wrong, but i think you guys got taken to the cleaners. Oh, make sure you have a backup up source of power for the septic pump. Our electric went out one time and we didn’t know this was the type of septic system we had (older house) and we had a lovely backup into the bathtub…yuk! 😆 Also, we put in an alarm if the septic pump stopped working.
I grew up on 13 acres. We had septic systems; it was a couple of concrete tanks with a pump. I remember having to start the pump to empty the tank when it was full. I believe my dad had the water from the sinks and washer set up to water the yard, much like many cities(suburban areas) do currently.
I’m just happy you guys have it done, one step closer to getting into the house. Plus living on top of the road isn’t fun. And those beautiful decks you just made, glad you made the right decision. Stay safe and God bless
Wow your channel has grown!! I started watching you when you were planning out the big garden for veggies. And the fence. My my things have changed. Then I saw a couple of you preparing to move. I am so happy to see blessing flow from hard work and determination. Utube has done you good.
You’re not poopologists lol. Septic systems have changed so much since I worked with my then hubby with such things. This is all cool watching each step of your process. Leach files that’s the issue. It’s so complicated now. I’ve got a friend who puts them in has for almost thirty years he’s seen a lot of changes as well. Was this done before your skirting? I sure hope so. Ehgad he blew a hydraulic hose. The hoses are a common place problems. Ooh crop circles hee hee
Hi Sam and Angela Wow As mentioned, that's a huge septic system. When my sister, who lives in Tennessee, did hers 40+ yrs ago, you just dug a hole near an area that went down hill into the woods. You could use anything for a tank. A 50 gallon rust proof drum if it worked for you. The woods was the leach field. This is if you were fancy and had inside bathroom facilities. Most people in the area had that little shed 100 feet from the house. But times change. Even though we didn't get to see you do your magic so we could laugh throughout the video. Having the outtakes or bloopers at the end still had me laughing 😂🤣 until a cried. They always do. Thanks for taking us back to that moment and showing us the install. As always wishing you the best. Can't wait to see the next video. Stay safe
I've lived with an off-site pump system for about 20 years now. I've had to replace the pump twice due to 1) lightening strike and 2) just wore out. Make sure your pump is grounded to help prevent damage from lightening strikes and keep a little $$$ set aside for pump replacement over time.
Interesting, can you explain more how it works? There is a small cement box connecting the pvc pipe to a sausage filter? Can you explain that? How expensive was it? I will soon be fixing my spec-tic tank in South American and it will not be anything like this, lol. Many blessings on your homestead
That is a very bizarre drain field. I've never seen anything like that. It takes up so much space. Is this style of drainfield okay to drive over? I'm wondering, why couldn't the drainfield be over where the master bathroom is, over where it looks like the land slopes downward and then not have to do a pump system?
That's the million dollar question.. the state engineer said the soil behind the home was solid clay and it would not drain. The best soil around our home site was up near to the road. It's higher in elevation than the house site, so had to be pumped up hill to that spot. We had several other good soil spots on the land, but none were close to our desired house site.
I would just decorate around the alarm pole make it a decorative piece. Hell hang a hummingbird feeder off the top. Also is the placement of the seep field like going to prevent movement over the front by future equipment??
Angela, you can just buy or build a wishing well to put on top and around the block lid and put some flowers around it. You will also have to do some research on driving (with tractors/trucks and doombuggies) overthe septic tank lines/areas, especially closer to the driveway.
My parents house had a 1500 gallon septic tank with 3 drain fields, a 275 feet water supply well and a 375 feet return well since they installed dual zone geothermal heating and cooling back in 1993 when they built their house on Kent Island Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. Late Summer the grass above the drain fields always turns brown vs in the Spring it's very green. My understanding that is from the extra Nitrogen in the soil where the drain fields are located. Their land was high enough they built a basement even though waterfront lot. Later they installed rip rap along the water and a pier and dock. They built a green house to grow their vegetables plus had a big garden and many fruit trees and berry bushes. Y'all remind me how I was raised to have a close family and learn to live within our means and to enjoy the outdoors and the land and so much more 😀 Oh by the way my parents planted bushes around their wells in the front yard and around the clean out for the septic tank in the backyard. The reason they were required to install a 1500 gallon septic tank was based on how many bathrooms and bedrooms (their house has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms)
👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️ Bless your hearts guess digging for the electric proved you had more rock than clay😔 sure thankful that is all behind you guys....put you up a cute fence color to match your surroundings, close to the post sorta like a corner point fence to hide the post but still able to get to it, then plant you some beautiful scrubs and flowers close to it to "dress" it up.👍
Hi Sam & Angela. We have a pump up system, here in N.H. We had just a new drain field and vent all done quite a few years ago. We alreay had the pump in place, but even so, I think it cost us $8,000.00 to $9,000.00. Not cheap by any means. I'm enjoying your journey, as always. Blessings from Rick in N.H.
Wow! Great job in sharing and explaining this entire septic system story from its absolute start months ago up to its ultimate completion 'today'! No doubt you two will figure out a way to camouflage the alarm post - maybe a couple/three vine/ivy covered trellises around it or even maybe a 'yard art' wall. Really enjoy and appreciate watching all your thoughtful efforts (and the fun bloopers!) in relocating and developing your new property, a/k/a 'home'.
Only to the point where hydraulic hose blew. I had been thinking this was before you dug the ditch for your electric and it would have been so much easier if only you had this kind of equipment at that time. Sure enough, you started talking about the ground being mostly clay not rock. My heart hurt for you knowing that's what you expected later but sadly found where the rock is on your land. You and Angela got beat down by it, but you persevered as you always do and got it done. 👏👏👏💖💖💖
I see in this video you don’t have the block skirting that you built. Will you show us that procedure someday. It sure makes your mobile home look so much more like a stick built home and I imagine it will look even more so after you side it as I believe you all have mentioned being in the future.
You can definitely hide the pole with some creative tree/ shrub planting. I love your channel- really wondering when you’ll get moved in??? Best wishes ❤️😃🌺
That looks really good. Now THATS a drain field!! About 4 times ours in Washington State!! We put ours in in 1973. Have a 2800 sq ft, 4 bedroom two story house on it. Have only had to pump it out from time to time. Yours should be great!! 👍👏👏👏👏
Wow we live in Fl. have 1050 gal system and about 100ft drain field we have 2 bathrooms only 2 ppl it's been here about 15 + years and no problems have had it pumped 3 times.
I think you made the right choice. I also think it would cost more to move the house than the more expensive system. Like you said there are many systems. We have friends in the country south of Ft Worth who have a pump system. Theirs has impulse sprinklers and waters a field they cut for hay. It works very well.
Does the inspector own the install company also ? I’m struggling to see the necessity of this massive system . Your soil looks amazing, would love to have it in my area.
That's a good question! None of our neighbors have that type system -- home across street just put in new system two years ago and it was a traditional style one.
I think you should do an underground bunker. I've already said you needed to do a tornado shelter. Tennessee gets tornadoes and flat land gets tornadoes.
Wondering if additional dirt can be put on top of one of those tanks so that grass will grow better over it. My daughter has a tank in her front yard and the grass on top won’t grow nicely. I think it do better if some topsoil could be put over it. But can that be done? Did anyone say you shouldn’t do that?
Can you build a small wishing well or mini building around the septic power pole? It would even hide the tank lid. Nothing super heavy that couldn't be easily moved. Bushes would just require more maintenance in the long run with trimming, roots, etc..
Welcome to the fancy septic club! Thankfully the sellers had to pay for ours when we bought our house. But it was a $20K job here in upstate NY. We have a 1k tank that flows into a 500g tank that pumps uphill to the leech field. Our leech field is fancy, instead of just rock we opted for Eljen matts instead for under the pipe. It lasts longer.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on. May the Lord bless and protect you and your family and putting in your pump system for sewage
Had a sand mound system with the same tank/alarm system on our 1 acre plot in King County Washington. When our mound failed 10 years ago due to excessive ground water getting into the tanks and pumping continuously (lots of rain here), it cost 12K for the repairs at that time. The repaired system required a dose timer in addition to the alarm to prevent continuous pumping like before. Dreaded the alarm going off in the middle of the night (never during the day). Love the aerial views and appreciate the working together spirit!
Thank you for sharing this Septic session! WOW! What an ordeal, and I'm so surprised how much land the leach lines take up! And there not very deep either! I was thinking about the rock issue you had not knowing this was done before you dug the electrical trenches. Just spark of humor, is the jurassic alarm for when your party was too big for those 1000 gallon tanks!!!! Speaking of 1000 gallon tanks, do you have to pump both tanks or only one? Congratulations 🎊 on getting this much closer to moving into your home!!!
My brother in law had a similar utility post in his front yard. He built an oversized fake birdhouse to slip over it. It is beautiful! You could hinge the back to have access to your septic alarm. Just a thought. Truly enjoy your channel.
Very cool video thank you. Unless I misunderstood, you'd think the further you are from the roadway the better it'd be. So if your house was right near the road, you could of had a regular septic. Its like the town wants the poppies closer to the road. Hmmm
That's a lot different from the last install I saw in SW Kansas. A big deep hole with a cement cover on top! This was 50 years ago and a lot has changed.
Fantastic visuals on the process. The aerial view and music were great. Will this help your hay field? It looks like it is all you will ever need in the septic world. Thanks for taking us along. Bless you all.
You might want to have risers put on the tanks it will save you some money when you have to have the tanks pumped because they charge you more to dig up and find the opening of the tanks. Plus don't flush disposable wipes because they will plug your tanks and might burn up your pump They also say to have your tanks check and pumped out every 3 to 5 years it all depends on how many people you have living in the house Good Luck
@@flytechbass1979 some of us don't have a gray water drain field. But I know some if they have the right kind of terrain gray water can drained in an open field or ditch.
Crazy! And I thought CA was bad! My tank is close to house like yours but my leach field is only 20 feet from the tank. But here is just as pricy to put in new systems!
I would suggest you mark where the tops of the two big tags are so if you ever need to have the septic tank pumped out you can easily find it lids to pull off so they can pump it. At least put some sticks in the ground or a sign posts or something but you know what it's therefore. To a few years down the road if you have it fully need to pump it you might not be able to find the door to open so they can pump it.
We have lived several places through the years that had septic systems. Never did we have one that detailed and complicated. Unbelievable!
I agree! I still don't understand the reasoning behind it. Soil? Lay of the land? I'm so confused as to why it couldn't just be a tank and a leach field. The electric was also super complicated. Maybe it's a Tennessee thing. I dunno.
"What's the point of being in the country if you're right on top of the road?" Yep. Totally agree with you on that one, says this city dweller.
I've seen similar systems out in the county, but I do plumbing mostly in a city where it all goes to the city sewer. Very interesting video.
if you have any large rocks/boulders around your property, use them to set up a rock garden around the pole. That would also have the effect of making sure you never drive over the tanks.
Not enough can be said for country living. The peaceful quiet, the stars not washed-out by city lights, your open view of beautiful sunsets - i am truly jealous! We're not going anywhere. :) Still gotta give everyone the final house tour, then we'll see what's next. Probably some smaller projects, then a big fence project (whole property), and who knows what else!
Good to see it's installed and hooked up with the States blessing! You guys have been through a lot and have held up well. I would have been crying.
Thanks!
Goodness, thank you!!! :)
That system looks like it could handle the city!!!!
Good decision to keep your home where it is! So many negatives being next to the road. Fumes, noise, ogelers, chance of someone driving into your home, etc. You made a healthier choice. 😄👍
17:17 That sweeping music is perfectly paired with the majesty of aerial video of a septic tank. LOL.
Your video production and music ❤ Is top notch!!
All I can say is WOW! Wow, what you have been through. I have no other words.... Thanks for sharing, God Bless
I absolutely loved the overhead shots and music, it helps to highlight the magnificence of engineering.
That was interesting. I’ve never heard of that type of system and it is huge! That system will last forever. ❤️❤️❤️
Cool snake! Your son is so cute. I love when the kids are in your videos. They both are growing so fast, your oldest has gotten a lot taller over the past couple of months or so. PS - y’all are two of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen, your place is looking awesome.

It's a process !! Took me over 2 months to get it !! Waiting to get my modular home !!
What an ordeal!!!! Seems a bit overkill, but as Sargeant Schultz would say, "I know nuuuthing". For you guys - Happy it's done. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome progress guy's !!!!! Great job . This way , any failures should be on them or product !!!!!

My house has that.we live rural Kentucky so we needed one
Your smart, do it right the first time and hope no problems for 20-30 years. Thats smart. Looks like you are having a hard grade septic system.
Hey guys,,, I really like your channel... Funny enough,,,, this is the standard sceptic tank system in Johannesburg,, Australia and the UK.... I'm soooooooo suprised that you have these options in your state.... Because in California,,,, they have a standard system,,,, also 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My folks put similar system in but theirs used sprinkler heads to spray the filtered water out on the yard. But they have a smaller property.
Yes getting closer bet you so excited

These days Tennessee is a pain in the ass where septic is concerned.

Now it ready to move in before winter.
Man that’s quite the septic ❣️
You can definitely hide the pole with some creative tree/ shrub planting. I love your channel- really wondering when you’ll get moved in??? Best wishes ❤️😃🌺
We're in, just have to edit and finish filming the house tour! :)

Now that's a septic system! They did a nice job! Thank God they didn't hit rock! Love watching you build your homestead!
Thank you!
Wow!!! We have a septic system to but my goodness it's nothing like that one... Yours is overwhelming in scope...WOW!
Thank you for doing this video. So informative to see how a septic tank looks like on video.
Fantastic I know your happy your threw with that🤗👍🙏
Can you build a small wishing well or mini building around the septic power pole? It would even hide the tank lid. Nothing super heavy that couldn't be easily moved. Bushes would just require more maintenance in the long run with trimming, roots, etc..
wow that system is flipping huge.....
Wow, I never saw a septic system that spread out! Love your videos, keep them coming!
Also, I find it super interesting they did two drain lines that are massive instead of three or four shorter ones.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on. May the Lord bless and protect you and your family and putting in your pump system for sewage
So happy for ya'll..!!
Oh wow! I sure hope we don't have that happen to us.
The drawing looks like there's only one pump in the second tank, the feed from the first into the second is a simple overflow.
My brother in law had a similar utility post in his front yard. He built an oversized fake birdhouse to slip over it. It is beautiful! You could hinge the back to have access to your septic alarm. Just a thought. Truly enjoy your channel.
That's a great idea!
Wow your perc test must have been awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Take care and be blessed.
Love to watch your videos and see your progress can’t wait for your next update Hello from California
Good video good to see y'all
Curious what would cost difference be is gone totally solar ? Have seen several totally solar powered homes with all modern convinces
that is just insane!!!wonderful gov't!!!
WOW! That seems like a huge system! 😱
Wow what a septic system, so different from ours. I’m so glad your closer and closer to moving into your home.
Surprised that wasn’t done with install
I have not had my pump in 25 years why? no bleach and never disposable wipes. My washer has its own drain field never going in my SEPTIC TANK SYSTEM
@@flytechbass1979 some of us don't have a gray water drain field. But I know some if they have the right kind of terrain gray water can drained in an open field or ditch.
How many feet of drain field was there?
@@kipcudd7253 Don't know 🤔
Where did ya use the bathroom b4 the septics was installed ?
Crazy! And I thought CA was bad! My tank is close to house like yours but my leach field is only 20 feet from the tank. But here is just as pricy to put in new systems!
They made a mess with your property, glad they filled it..God Bless
I've learned alot from this video.. Some place are very particular on their systems.. You guys are awesome and thank you for sharing.🤗
I’ve never seen that done before it was interesting but your channel always is yall are my fav tyfs hugs and prayers and much love ❤️
I love RUclips you are both so happy 😄😄😄😄🙋♀️🇬🇧
My system has a 1,500gal tank which is pretty much standard here. Three 75ft laterals, works great!
Good evening Sam and Angela.
