When I was about 4 or 5 years old my paternal grandmother would take me picking dandelions for salad. There was a large field across the street from where we lived so we didn’t, travel far. We picked only plants that had buds .If they had flowers they were rejected. When preparing the salad she would add hard boiled eggs ,wine vinegar, and olive oil. It was delicious . I,m 92 now so that was 87 years ago, it it is one of my memory “ gems”.
Tina, I've got another idea for you to help with the mosquitos.. DRAGONFLIES EAT MOSQUITOES!!! You can actually purchase living Dragonflies, and Nymphs to stock your pond for the future (I could only find Nymphs for sale online but you may be able to find some in your area), look into it. They are also beneficial to gardens too. And, there is a video on attracting dragonflies to your property you may be interested in. 😉
@@HomeFreeAlaska I forgot to add, on average a single dragonfly eats 100 mosquitoes a day, so if you have a lot of dragonflies.. you get the picture! 😅🎉
I wouldn’t worry about Joe’s sweet tooth too much. He’s so active and busy with his projects… a treat or two isn’t going to hurt him! But he’s lucky to have you watching out for him!
The amount of the sugar in the jelly was shocking for me. You look like healthy people but the amount of fat under different forms and over all home processed food in your diet is a lot for me. Coffee with sugar, cream and more wiped cream on the top is probably around 300 cal or more, make it twice a day and you have 600 cal out of 2000 daily intake. Don’t take it as criticism but just other point of view about eating.
Animal fats, especially if organically fed, are much better than overly processed vegetable oils. There was a lot of sugar in the jelly but they don't put very much on their toast and it has nutritional value. I bought some Smuckers jam recently. There were very few strawberries in it compared to the last time I bought it many years ago. I make my own iced coffees daily and add cream and sugar. Much cheaper to make my own and still less calories than most coffee shops. I have a sweet tooth and my husband rarely eats sweets. More for me I say! Tina goes out of her way to make healthy, organic meals with vegetables and/or fruits. They're young, active, and enjoy their lives.
Just wonderful that she will create yarn. The little lamb with that beautiful black wool will be gorgeous in a yarn. As will the other wool. Loved the video of the moose.and the mountains. What. Wonderful place to live
Great video. Loved seeing mama and baby moose enjoying the clearing and pond. And watching Sarah’s little tail wag so fast as she is drinking her bottle. Oh my gosh so adorable. Parker looks like he is enjoying riding lessons. So much fun being a kid and learning on the homestead. And the pantry is fabulous! Perfect space for y’all!
I learned mosquitos cant lay eggs in water if you put a bit of vegetable oil in it. Doesnt hurt animals if they drink. That video of baby calf and her momma was perfect start to my day. The craftmanship Joe puts into the projects he builds is awesome to watch. And Parker is getting to be quite the horseman. I am off to pick some dandelions to try out your recipe. Thank you, you all are such a blessing.
Your pantry is amazing! Great work Joe. We all need a Joe! I'm loving the moose and her baby. What an awesome thing to watch. You are blessed and have worked hard to at this stage of your life. Well done Watson's! Have a great weekend!! Stay safe and well. Thanks for sharing your family with us!
My mama was a farmgirl. I grew up eating wilted dandelion greens salad and she made dandelion jelly as well as dandelion wine. She's been gone since 2013. Thanks for stirring up great memories. Love your channel❤ - Jane
Parker is progressing very well handling his horse! I’m so glad you shared this video with us. Back to the moose on the property, I think it’s so interesting to watch their behavior in the wild when they are not threatened.

Precious dogs. They are almost human!! Parker is doing great with the horse training. Your husband stays so active, you all do, don’t sweat the sweet stuff. Treat yourself, you deserve it. The pantry, wow…magazine! As always, a lovely family and awesome video!
Good job cantering Parker! It was good to see her work you on learning how to do a tight turn to stop. I've had to use it when my horse took off galloping through a field...it works. The pantry is absolutely wonderful. If it is a hassle to do something, you will usually avoid doing it. Hi Tina. Joe did a fantastic job on your pantry. The pond is a great watering hole for the moose. The baby was too cute! Seeing Parker, barefoot with a fishing pole, is the stuff a young boys dreams are made of. I told ya he could fish the pants off of everyone. Good job, Parker. Thanks for the adventure! Love you guys!
Wow you can't get anymore organized than that .Tina you are a awesome "home Mom" The Pantry , Joe your contribution in building the pantry and everything else is well done too......You all are pro's !
Love following your lives and the videos, especially the happy daily life of the animals. You even got to catch a Moose taking a lazy swim in your pond! How awesome is that?!?! God is Good! Thanks for letting me share in it all with you guys. I know that it is a lot of work getting it out😉
Ms. Tiinaa!! Wonderful video, like always! The Pantry! Wow! It’s so beautiful! Mr. Joe is such a great Carpenter/Builder! I know they can be dangerous, but Moose’s are so beautiful and majestic. It must be so special to see them that close. Parker did an amazing job riding that Horse! Wow! He’s so brave! My grandkids always love to watch him. “We’re on my favorite place in the world.” 😂😂 We love the way you take good care of your body with what you eat! Homemade gummies for Parker! Great choice! I want to make Soap, Dandelion jellie, and homemade gummies for my grandkids. 🤦🏻😂 Your Channel is such a beautiful influence. Thank you, Ms. Tina! God bless you all! Stay safe and healthy! We love you!
Thank you so much Ms Mirna! It still feels so weird walking in my new pantry space! It makes me want to do MORE now that everything is organized and in its place! I thrive with organization haha! Tell the grand kids hello from the Watson crew. Hope you all have a beautiful week!❤️❤️
@@HomeFreeAlaska Thank you! They’ll be happy to read your comment. One of my grandkids said you’re a perfectionist, and we agreed that, that is what makes everything look so beautiful there. Enjoy your well deserved little piece of heaven on earth cabin Ms. Tina. I follow a few Alaskan Homesteaders and I can honestly say that yours is the most amazing one. You and Mr. Joe have done an outstanding job. I forgot to mention that the part where Esther responds to you when you call her, melted our hearts. It’s so unbelievably beautiful.
The pantry turned out beautiful!! As always great job Joe and love how you have it set up Tina. Parker was in his element during the riding lesson and the look on his face said he was loving it. Cant wait to see the greenhouse build getting started. 😊
Love LOVE the pantry! Watching mama and calf warmed my heart. I'm in the AZ desert so my garden is done until fall. Digging in the dirt is a passion of mine. I grow tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, carrots, fennel, cilantro, basil, flowers. It was a good growing season and we enjoyed sharing God's bounty with family, friends 🥰
Thank you for the gummy snack recipe. My grandson will love them, I am sure. Thanks for sharing. Parker, you are doing an awesome job with the horse you are riding. I love how straight that you sit in the saddle. Most kids would be hunched over. Great job!
Parker, you look like a pro on the horse. I used to ride every day till I got in a bad accident. I miss riding and just be around the horses. Good job, Parker.
This was a lovely video as usual, was impressed by how Parker was handling the horse, he is being taught well, love the yarn/fleece idea, jelly making, and gummy making excellent, and the time spent with Parker was so precious,we are our.childrens role models, and he is learning alot ,thank you again for bringjng us along, and sharing some of your Alaska life, i was watching a show couple years ago i think it was buying Alaska, and the guy said"the Mosquito is the state Bird of Alaska" when i saw your forehead i thought of that🙂

Hi Parker, excellent job helping your Mom with the Dandelions and the gummies! Wow, and you really had great luck catching fish!!! Now building a trampoline with your DAD! Then the mama Moose showing off her Baby, how great to see! We have a mama white tailed deer in our backyard with her baby Fawn (we believe she had the Fawn in our backyard last Thursday) and she comes daily to our backyard with her fawn. The Fawn loves to run too!
Tina, Joe, and Mr. P, You take beautiful camera footage, and edit your videos beautifully❤ Tina, do you use a special software to edit. Mama, and baby moose are very comfortable on your property. I wonder if Mama had her baby on your property. How cool would that be. Good thing you fenced in your garden when you did. I'm excited for you on purchasing materials for starting the greenhouse. Your pantry is gorgeous!!!! Joe did an amazing job building it. Tina, you did an amazing job helping, and setting it up. Those jars with the spoons on the front are perfect! Y'all have a great weekend!
I have never tried this jelly, but definitely would love to try to give it a go!!!! Looking great on riding lessons Parker! Joe...the pantry turned out so nice!!! Your pantry is absolutely beautiful. What a team he builds wonderfully and u decorate and take it to the next leval!! Good job riding Parker! Great video !! That baby moose..... ❤
Tina, thank you SO much for making this channel and sharing your lives. As a homeschooling mama in Fairbanks, I can relate to a lot of it. My husband was stationed at FWW as a Cav Scout, I'm from AZ like Joe, my 9 year old loves watching Parker and so does my 5 year old. We try to stay away from TV (the struggle is real haha) but winter is hard and finding your channel has been a breath of fresh air. It's nearly impossible finding family friendly channels and not worrying about what my kids will see or hear if i need to step out of the room for a minute. We could never afford to homestead, and to be honest, dont have the many skills needed to keep up with one but I feel like I get a small glimpse of experiencing homestead life thanks to you and your family. ❤

Thank you!

Your garden sounds wonderful!❤️
I'm so intrigued by dandelion products lately, particularly this jelly!
It’s so easy to make & yummy! There are so many awesome things you can make with dandelions!😊
Thank you for the gummy snack recipe. My grandson will love them, I am sure. Thanks for sharing. Parker, you are doing an awesome job with the horse you are riding. I love how straight that you sit in the saddle. Most kids would be hunched over. Great job!
Thank you!😊
Parker, you look like a pro on the horse. I used to ride every day till I got in a bad accident. I miss riding and just be around the horses. Good job, Parker.
Thank you. Sorry to hear about your accident friend.❤️

Aw how fun! Love this time of year with all the lil ones frolicking around!😊

Tina, Joe, and Mr. P,
You take beautiful camera footage, and edit your videos beautifully❤ Tina, do you use a special software to edit.
Mama, and baby moose are very comfortable on your property. I wonder if Mama had her baby on your property. How cool would that be. Good thing you fenced in your garden when you did.
I'm excited for you on purchasing materials for starting the greenhouse.

Awww that baby moose!!! 🫎
What a delightful video! The scenery, information, and family interaction is beautiful. Thank you!❤
Glad you enjoyed it!😊
