Um... You Do know that America's SMB2 was Actually a game called Doki Doki Panic that they replaced the textures with Mario stuff. Mario Bros Lost Levels is Actually the proper sequel to the first game in Japan. However at the time they thought it was too hard for American players and thus the sprite swapped out Doki Doki.

I’m sure they’re best friends outside the games. Think of the games as a movie. The characters are the actors. Bowser simply “acts” as a villain for the game, but he’s a great guy away from the “set.”

A big reason for the lack of cutscene's or story was cartridge space. Catridges at the time were usually 16 or 32 kb so every bit of memory was precious. Adding a cutscene likely meant cutting several levels and multiple enemy types and background elements.
By the time of the SNES assets were generally larger so cutscene's were smaller relatively speaking. Also improved compression tools allowed them to be even smaller. In addition cartridge space wasn't as big a factor.

@@thelittlemanfromthedraftbo6805 doubt it, as usual it's likely not what it seems, but even if she does legitimately try to escape, that's one instance the decade she's been putting on the charade, so you can't act like that's legitimate backing (not that she doesn't have the power to escape anyway, as she *has* actually displayed in a few of the games, but again, she never uses it)

I mean in super mario 64 he literally trapped her in a star inside his body. If mario couldn't attack bowser, he most likely wouldn't have saved the princess

You know, it’s hard to have an actual battle or fight with Bowser when you’re not allowed to actually touch or hit him. You take damage when you touch and hit him and he doesn’t receive any damage from any sort of physical contact with Mario.

I think in Mario Sunshine, it was actually all Bowser Jr.'s idea to frame Mario and kidnap Peach, however it was Bowser who initially told Bowser Jr. that Peach was his mother. So it's not as messed up as Bowser using his son as a pawn in his plan.

Wait why were people excited to play as bowser in odyssey you got to play as him in Bowser's Inside Story
StickCreation Studios because Odyssey was a main series Mario game, and Inside Story was a spin off. I felt excited both times honestly. Also it’s possibly because even though he was playable in Inside Story, that was 10 years ago. Meaning it’s been about a decade since we were actually able to play as Bowser in a game that’s not a sports game.

I will say I'm actually a bit sad that Super Mario RPG wasn't mentioned. I get probably why it wasn't; it's canonicity is unlikely at best, but I always imagined that when he called Mario "friend" upon entering the first zone where you will fight him, its because the last time he was seen, he had teamed with Mario to battle Smithy, and the game does give him some nice new powers, like the Hurly Gloves, and fear. Oh well.
Apart from that, a very nice video.
I feel that no one recognizes how Bowser uses the Raccoon Leaf in the final fight of 3D World. You don't actually see it that we'll however. The best way to recognize is when he bursts out if the wall in phase 2 and instead of swiping with his claws, he attacks with his tail. It even has the iconic sound when you swipe your tail with the raccoon leaf.

@@Meme_Lord1802 I know what one is. I just went off with how the Super Leaf turns Mario into Raccoon Mario where as the Tanooki Suit turns you into Tanooki Mario. The weird mix in the 3D Mario games still confuses me on why the Super Leaf turned you into Tanooki Mario when in the 2D games, it turns you into Raccoon Mario.

I think a good in-universe explanation as to why Bowser "fights" were the player just dodging at first is that Mario was still fairly inexperienced. In Super Mario World, Mario has a lot more experience and guts to face Bowser in an actual fight, and this would show in most of the games afterward

Galaxy/64 bowser was by far my favorite. He was taken as an entirely serious villain that was also seriously dangerous. I strongly dislike how nowadays bowser is taken as a joke. He doesn’t even remotely feel like a dangerous and or serious villain anymore and honestly, that saddens me a bit.

Super Mario Bros. 2 was not originally a Mario game it was a reskin of another game called Doki Doki Panic. The reason for that is because they thought the real Super Mario Bros. 2 would be too hard for us Americans. The lost levels is the real game and it was only released in Japan they didn’t get the reskined game.

Fact: super mario bros 2 is based on doki panic and is spinoff the actual mario. The real second mario game was super mario bros 2: the lost levels, and it did feature bowser. Probably my favourite plot point of New Super Mario Bros is that when you defeat Bowser Jr, Bowser pretty much goes into rage mode for you defeating his son.
