Yes, I have seen this one but will watch it again ..thank you 😊it really was very sad to see her husband break down over the lake ..shows that he is a sensitive person ..
I grew up under the threat of nuclear war. We did drills at school. My grandparents had a fallout shelter built into their basement, with walls of concrete several feet thick. That's where my grandmother stored her jars of jellies and canned vegetables, and a deep freezer for the food she put up out of their garden every year, enough to eat until the following harvest. We never needed it as a fallout shelter, but we were ready just in case.
I enjoy this program very much, from it's beautiful scenery, very old homes (compared to what most of us have in the US), their British accents and different ways of labeling things, such as what they call the first floor, we call the second floor in the US, etc. Great program!
The mystery house obviously meant a lot to the husband. In the very beginning, he teared up talking about a house he had wanted, but it was taken off the market. He reminded me of someone who had experienced some great difficulty, perhaps PTSD. The wife's only expressed opinion was to dislike the beams and likes to move furniture around often. If the land and the lake makes the husband happy, then buy that property!!
Ive said this many times...if youre a married man, there is no point in turning up for the viewings. IF you ever got your own way (you won't), the man will still be paying the price, long after the mortgage has gone.
I thought the same thing Elizabeth, why not buy the lake with the little bit of land and build your new home there ? It's possible I guess they wouldn't allow a new build due to the historic home and property so close.
The wife got everything that she wanted. So I hope she's happy moving her furniture around and having a bedroom for her dog and her mother She seems Mighty selfish to me. And she got her land for her Pony. It's all about her!!!
One very good thing about the second property is the possibility of ground-floor living, such that this couple could conceivably "age in place" or grow old in that house, not having to worry about navigating stairs every single day. Sure, house two didn't have a pond and lots of land, and it was at the high end of the budget, but it's going to remain accessible for them, physically, pretty much forever.
Ann Keefer you are right, I find it mind boggling that people are looking to retire but always look for masters upstairs. I would want a one level house or the possibility of converting one of the room on the ground floor for future. Stairs are not friendly for old age
The second was my favorite although not being someone who likes to swim my first thought was take the pool out and put in a garden.lol. The third is lovely but I couldn't live in a house that closed in. The house was awkward to walk through . The land is gorgeous.
What gets me ... with all these videos .... not just this one ... is when they say "I'd like a garden with a couple of Acres or more "! ... when they haven't a clue how big "a couple of acres actually is "!!!
To be fair she Did mention rescuing ponies, and they need about half an acre or more each, so in this case, maybe they did get it right. But most of them have no idea. She cannot do anything with it, she is not even allowed to let shepherds graze their goats any ,more, but because of the fire risk she has to maintain it. Costs her a fortune! For nothing! Hahaha!
With the beautiful sanctuary, it was a delight to see Scottish Highlander cattle along with Belted Galway. The hons of the Scottish Highlander remind me of the Texas Long horn which seem to be a larger version. The Scottish cattle ate much more gentle than our Texas cattle. If I ever retire, I would like a pair of crossed Scottish Lighlander and Belted Galway - the cross keeps all but the horns.
Practicality won out...more like the wife's view won out. It was amusing to see the different reaction of the two to the mystery house --- the husband was adorable! I understand both have to live in the house but I felt very sad for the husband.

I quite understand; I don't like small, claustrophobic rooms with tiny windows. Sometimes, it isn't JUST the beams, but what that style is and brings with it. A house with large windows FEELS much larger than 'keyhole windows'.
Have to agree. The grade 2 listing wouldn't be my cup of tea. I didn't think any of the house were what they asked for. The entry to the third floor bedroom would present a big problem for the Tall husband. The pool house looked more like a summer or weekend getaway home. Not really what I think of in an Escape to the Country house. I hope they found the right house for both of them. The dog belongs to both of them, and since when does caring about our mother's safety while visiting make us selfish? Lighten up folks.

The mystery property has a lot of amenities for less money, unfortunately the wife is a no go ,so he's probably going to get stuck in the second house. Happy wife happy life or at least less to gripe about!
Really? A hospital receptionist. Pretty sure we know who contributed the lions share of that house budget. But for every haughty woman like her, there exists at least one man with no spine. And if she knew anything about the needs of equine she would know two acres pasture is woefully inadequate.
Jules really got on my nerves on this one. Why does she have to say "wow"? Amazing and lovely seem perfectly positive to me. Good grief. Th mystery house had a lot of character and beautiful land but the rooms really were tiny. Can totally understand that they didn't got with it.
Having watched this a second time 3 months on, I’m still amazed at her lack of any emotion, dreary beyond dreary, I feel v sorry for him. The mystery house is perfect, but Mrs SELFISH is al me me me 😢😢
Alashabibti & AL AC, you are BOTH right! This is a lovely couple and I don’t get how some people feel their nasty comments add something of interest to the comments. It’s just another form of cyber-bullying!
The only down part about these programs is that no one ever seems to buy one of the 3 homes showen them... not that I have watched all the programs... but so far none of them have a house purchase.... and for me that is very annoying... like why even watch when you know no decision will be made other than the decision to not buy any of them.
he can find a lake to use and not have to take care of it will be better to avoid that horrible mystery house! it was 100% opposite of what she wanted.
The trouble with this particular presenter is that he thinks that his opinion is important. It is not. His job is to listen to the couple and probe for what they want and need. Clouding things only places him as a salesman, not the person you want to help you .
Feels like folks are reacting more to tears and emotion than sensibility and realities, and jumping to pretty awful conclusions and assumptions about the wife and their relationship. Remember, we're getting limited access to their lives, everyone has "deal-breaker" criteria that the show is going to try to get around with the mystery house, and everything is edited down from snap judgements. The vast majority of the folks on this show don't end up getting any of the homes shown- it's ultimately a tourism show for the countryside. To me she just seemed uncomfortable in front of the camera, and that their dynamic was simply an "emotional one and sensible one" trope. Husbands get labelled sensible & practical, but when roles are reversed, wives get labelled domineering and controlling. They're looking for a forever home and lifestyle. House 2 had the best of both worlds- land for birds and ponies, open spaces in the home, minimal maintenance since it's only 10 years old at the time of filming, and ground-floor living for them, their furbaby, and elderly family. Swimming or water aerobics is a wonderful way to stay fit as you get older. The courtyard pool could be converted to a lovely pond & garden if desired. If they ever did want to sell down the line, house 2 would get snapped up in a heartbeat. House 3 would be quite difficult for anyone with current or future mobility issues, between the chopped-up rooms, stooping through doors, and multi-level living. Can y'all imagine trying to get around in there with a walker or cane? It would be really difficult for more than 2 people to occupy some of the indoor spaces comfortably, without doing some work (like removing the dividing beams, and peninsula in the kitchen) which, if I understand correctly, is really difficult and expensive to do in a Listed property. The upkeep for a home that old, along with basically a park, would be daunting for just about anyone. The land was undeniably lovely, but that type of property truly is a lifetime commitment. It would be an ideal space for someone who wanted to use the land for a cottage/tiny house/glamping holiday let.
Thank you. Commenters calling a woman who loves animals, cares for her mother, does charity work, and knows her hubby better than anyone else "selfish" is truly disgusting.
I didn't like the .we the woman. Seemed cold . Silly laugh . I think that she should have said take the mystery house, her husband clearly loved it . The inside was pretty, you don't have to move furniture every day.
I can't be alone in thinking she comes across somewhat smug and ungrateful. Yes, her laugh is annoying -- creepy really. She said there was a 'bathroom' in the bedroom, when it was just a tub! The husband can't find a new house in the country fast enough though. Anyway, Jules is amazing as usual.
I was curious about all the houses so I watched all of it but This Woman's laughter is mind-boggling to say the least. Can't stand it!!!

WOW! Judgemental!
Great.but people should make up minds
I visited the town of Great Malvern and the Malvern Hills just once in 2008.
Jules really got on my nerves on this one. Why does she have to say "wow"? Amazing and lovely seem perfectly positive to me. Good grief. Th mystery house had a lot of character and beautiful land but the rooms really were tiny. Can totally understand that they didn't got with it.
That bathtub in the bedroom would have to go. No thank you .
What’s with the camera work?
Having watched this a second time 3 months on, I’m still amazed at her lack of any emotion, dreary beyond dreary, I feel v sorry for him. The mystery house is perfect, but Mrs SELFISH is al me me me 😢😢
Id fill that useless, high maintenance, seldom to be used pool with soil and have a Percy Thrower sunked garden.
Sad really. Could they not have built somewhere on the property to heal the breach. I see her point but still.
Some of you people are so rude, her laugh is fine.
Are you rude to call other people rude? Hmmm....
Alashabibti & AL AC, you are BOTH right! This is a lovely couple and I don’t get how some people feel their nasty comments add something of interest to the comments. It’s just another form of cyber-bullying!
I thought she had a wonderful laugh.

The only down part about these programs is that no one ever seems to buy one of the 3 homes showen them... not that I have watched all the programs... but so far none of them have a house purchase.... and for me that is very annoying... like why even watch when you know no decision will be made other than the decision to not buy any of them.
i live in a flat in the malvern area currently would love to be able to afford a house here
Her laugh got on my last nerve!
Her personality was worse.
@@stephaniejade7056 What personality?
he can find a lake to use and not have to take care of it will be better to avoid that horrible mystery house! it was 100% opposite of what she wanted.
The trouble with this particular presenter is that he thinks that his opinion is important. It is not. His job is to listen to the couple and probe for what they want and need. Clouding things only places him as a salesman, not the person you want to help you .
I don't think the wife likes very much of anything which makes you wonder why she does charity work - is it for show?
VERY cotrolling wife...he had NO chance..
And 100% selfish
100% judgemental
What an uninspiring woman, no enthusiasm and all about me me me. Gorgeous houses, the barn for me was perfect
Her laugh really gets on my nerves.
BoredCertified -- I think she's charming.
i didn't even notice it, perhaps you need something for your nerves.
quite cackley
All totally wasted on them.
She has the most annoying laugh.
The lady has to stop dying her hair.....she is getting very bold......
the word is'BALD' bold, has a very different meaning !
Her laugh seems very hollow 😊
These videos are terrible. Herky-jerky movements, over-saturated colors, dialog out of synch.
Why so jerky ? Makes me suspicious that someone is pirating the episode.
the person who recorded this had some issues.
