  • Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 16, Go Pro Hero Session 5, and Google Earth Pro. This is one of our family's favorite places in all of Europe! Home of the first Winter Olympics, this is the best place in the French Alps.
Here we document our arrival, visit into Chamonix, and then ride the Montenvers funicular train to the Mer de Glace glacier, for a tour in the ice cave, before ending the day, back in Chamonix

It was expensive but that train ride was something that one must experience if possible. Jungfrau is on our list. Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked it!

I loved this video! I can see why it is one of your families favorite places in Europe. Glaciers are really cool to walk through! I never knew you could. We went into one just outside of Zermatt. It was an experience.
    Thank you for sharing!

I already knew it. But it still is a shock to see the glacier gone.
When I was there in 1980 the glacier reached close to where the railway station is now.
I actually went down from the station and stood on the glacier itself. The glacier was also far more white and bright. At the time I was not aware of global warming.
Now it has eroded away due to global warming resulting in this environmental and climate change. A cause still denied by ignorant people and greedy individuals misinforming the people about the consequences of climate change.

Last time I came there it was in 1991 or 1992. There was no gondola, if I'mcorrect just a 10/15 minutes walk down to reach the ice :(

In august 1980 it was about 3 minutes or so.

Very good video and you have a beautiful family. Question: During certain part of your video you seem to be using a computer program to show the landscape. Will you please tell me how you did this? thanks

Thanks for the complement. Certainly. I pulled down Google Earth Pro and learned how to make "tours" that you can then record and apply as new video into your films. Not every area has very good 3D representations yet though. I'm always looking for good map data to use

How long did the train ride take?

I apologize. I didn't see this earlier. We waited for about 30 minutes and the ride was about 30 minutes and all of it was beautiful. Hope you get to do it

I was enjoying the video until the music at 11:50. It sounded like a scene from the movie The Omen...so creepy and demonic. It ruined the beauty of the mountains. Had to stop watching.
